CHAPTER 2

You grunted as you felt the heat from the morning sunlight on your face, making you cover yourself with the pillow. You hissed at the pain your headache was causing you.

I should really stop drinking.

Then you quickly sat up as you came back to your senses, making your head hurt even more.
You remembered you made plans to meet Hoseok that morning to discuss about your possible job.

You rummaged through the covers, in desperate search of the phone and breathed a sigh of relief when you saw the time, it was still early.
You examined the living room.
It seemed that Jisoo and Jin hadn't gotten up yet, everything was still quiet.
Usually you could hear them getting ready for the day even though they try their best not to wake you.

It was practically impossible not to wake up but you didn't blame them. You were crushing on their living room couch; you were bound to hear everything that was going on in the small apartment.

You took advantage of the still sleepy atmosphere and decided to take your time to get ready.
You noticed you still had some time to kill so you decided to head out earlier and take a walk.

You didn't have a car, hell you didn't even have a driver's license yet. You recognized you had to sort out your new Korean documents in the upcoming days. Not that it would make any difference since you didn't have spare money to actually buy a car.

The morning breeze made you shiver as you sank more into your coat.

Shit.

Who could've thought October would be so cold?

When you arrived Hoseok greeted you with a warm cup of coffee. Usually, you didn't drink coffee nor you like the taste of it but that day you thought you'll make an exception. After all, you really needed it to recover from last night's hangover.

"How are you today?" Hoseok asked with a gracious smile.
"Oh I'm okay, thank you. How are you?"
"Fine, thanks. So shall we begin?"

The conversation with Hoseok lasted for hours; you two went in detail about the restaurant, their goals, expectations and future ideas. He was very impressed with your approach on how to solve different types of challenges you might face in the future and you two seemed to agree on quite a lot.

After a while the conversation shifted, allowing you to know more about your possible future boss.

You found out he was born in Gwangju but moved to Seoul to pursue his studies, he had a dog named Mickey and he was roommates with Jimin; they've been living together for a while.

You jumped lightly as you heard the door open; you seemed to do that every time the door would open.

Because, not going to lie, you were hoping to see him. Last night's feeling didn't leave you; you couldn't stop thinking about him. His penetrating gaze, his breathtaking smile, his wavy messy hair and oh my God the voice. That sensuous, smooth voice...

You were so caught daydreaming that you didn't notice Hoseok asked you a question.
"What?" you asked, composing yourself.
"I asked if you could start on Monday?" he repeated himself.
"So I got the job, just like that?" you asked perplexed.
"Just like that".
"oh... I would be delighted to work for you, Jung Hoseok".
"Oh please" he said standing up, you followed.
"We told you to call us by our names" Hoseok smiled "I can't wait to work with you Y/n. We are going to have so much fun together" he said with a bright smile while clapping his hands.

"What are we celebrating?" a deep voice caught your attention.

Taehyung approached Hoseok and you. He looked stunning in his casual attire; the white t-shirt hanged perfectly on him, accentuating his long veiny arms. Way different from the look of last night you thought.

Taehyung ran his hands through his hair as he stood in front of you.
"Y/n is going to work with us starting from Monday" Hoseok specified.
"Oh that's great" his eyes met yours as he raised an eyebrow. This must be a habit of his, you noticed.

"So Y/n, I'm going to give you a tour of the place now" said Hoseok while rocking back and forth.
"It's okay Hobi, I'll show her" Taehyung suddenly interjected.

"But I need to show her the office where she'll work" Hoseok pointed out confused.
"I think we'll manage, thank you Hoseok" Taehyung responded.

He then came closer making you back away a bit. You observed the movement of his hand, making its way to your back. You quivered as you felt the palm of his hand pressed on your covered skin.

He applied some mild pressure forcing you to move forward; you could barely feel your legs as a worm feeling spread through your body.
The two of you made your way to the hallway, leaving a very much perplexed Hoseok behind.

Taehyung and you made your way into the elevator. He didn't say a word since you left Hoseok and it was making you feel uncomfortable.
You were standing on the opposite side of the elevator. He was looking forward with a relaxed expression on his face. You wanted to start a conversation but didn't know what to say.

Everything about that man was intimidating you.

"Nice pants" you then said.

What? Nice...pants? Great, now I'm sounding like an idiot.

Taehyung then distractingly looked down at his pants.
" Thanks" he shrugged his shoulders.
You couldn't let the conversation die out so you tried to think of a good follow-up.

For God's sake.

"You look different today, it suits you" you said.
Taehyung turned slightly his head to your direction, listening to you carefully.
"Thank you. Today is my off day. I just came here to pick-up some files" he said.

As the elevator's door opened you two stepped out. You gasped when you noticed you were on the last floor of the building, entering a vast, lavish club. It was empty as it was nearly noon. You couldn't help but ask yourself what it usually looks at night, when it's packed with people. Countless of window walls were surrounding you, the sunlight travelled through them, making you squint your eyes.

" I thought we were going to the office" you said confused.

" The office is on the first floor, right above the restaurant. Hoseok will help you settle on Monday. I wanted to show you this" Taehyung said while looking at you.
"It's beautiful" you mumbled. "You own a club as well?"

"Well no, this is Jungkook's side business" Taehyung scratched his cheek vacantly.

"But we all like to come here" he added.

"Jungkook?'" you asked.

"Yes, Namjoon and mine's third business partner. You haven't met him yet." he clarified.

"Oh".

"Come with me" Taehyung then said, making his way through the spacious club.

You followed him on what it looked like an open space, kind of like a big terrace.
You gasped at the sight. The tall building towered upon Seoul, allowing you to see the whole city under you. It was art, art in every sense. The mountains embraced the city, allowing it to bloom in the valley. The sun's light reflected on Seoul's waters as thousands of trees intertwined above. The city told its story in colors; from nature's green to neon street signs. The sight, the aroma, the music and the busy vibe. Everything screamed Seoul.

"Not much to look at right?" Taehyung asked, admiring the breathtaking view.
"I've seen better" you said ironically while still focusing on what you were seeing.
"May I offer you a glass of wine?" Taehyung moved his eyes on you. That gentle look made you melt on your very feet.
"Isn't it a bit too early for wine?".
"Not when you're witnessing this kind of beauty" he said while tilting his head towards the city.
"Wait for me here" Taehyung added.

He left you to your thoughts; you couldn't believe that just less than ten days ago you were on the other side of the world, leading a very different life. You took a deep breath, inhaling as much as you could of this marvelous city. From up there in the sky you felt finally free after a long time.

"Here you go" Taehyung came back. He offered you a glass of red wine.
"Thank you. To what should we toast?" you asked crossing your feet one in front of the other, bringing yourself closer to him.
"Your new job?" he asked.
" How about new beginnings?".

Taehyung looked at you amused; he liked the sound of your words.
"To new beginnings then" he raised the glass. You followed.

"This place is amazing" you said after taking a sip of your drink.
"You should see it when there's live music. Sometimes I manage to convince Kook to let me hire a band. He doesn't like the sound of jazz though so it happens rarely" Taehyung chuckled.
"Was it Count Basie, Chick Webb or Sidney Bechet who first made you fall in love with jazz?" you asked, your eyes lost in his.
Taehyung seemed surprised by the question.

"Sidney Bechet" he answered; his gaze traveled to the floor as he smiled.

"Nowadays it's rare to meet someone who likes jazz. You surprise me Y/n" he admitted.

"Well... I like all sort of things" you said shrugging your shoulders.

"Please, tell me more".

"What?".
" Who are you Y/n?".
"And you? Who are you, Kim Taehyung?"

Taehyung liked hearing his name coming from your lips; it surprised him how much he liked it.
Because it wasn't like him to feel the way he did; you were emitting a palpable, strong energy that drawn him to you. He wasn't surprised that he felt physically attracted to you though: from the moment you walked up to that table last night he couldn't take his eyes off you. He found you extremely attractive but it wasn't just that, there was more.

Taehyung chuckled at the question.

"Okay, fair enough. I will tell you one thing about me if you answer one question".
" A question for a question?" you raised an eyebrow.

"Yes. I'll start. Since last night I keep asking myself what could have happened to make you think you had no way out but to move across the globe. Would you care to share?".

You staggered.

"Starting strong...okay. Well I...it was everything. It was my whole world and all the people in it; the inertia, my job, the monotony...my failed engagement" you sighed.

Taehyung tensed slightly at those words. He wanted to know more. And, as he took a sip of his wine, he pushed you a little bit more.
"You didn't love him" It was more a statement than a question. You crossed your arms as you sank into yourself.

"I...I don't know. I guess I did at the beginning but then it faded away over time." You were surprised by your own boldness. You were confessing your struggles to a complete stranger but you didn't mind.

Taehyung's caring yet curious eyes encouraged you to continue.

"It was difficult to end things but I had to do it. I felt I owed it to myself. You see; I couldn't live a life that wasn't mine." You then added "I'm sorry, you must think I'm a coward" you lowered your head, facing the floor.
"No I don't" Taehyung said as he took the glass from your hands. He placed the glasses on the table and walked back to you.
"I think you were brave. I takes a lot of courage to make such a decision, I admire that about you" he said standing in front of you.
"Thank you. I'm fine now, it happened months ago".
Taehyung nodded.

"So... what do you want to know about me?" he then asked, spreading his arms.
But before you could ask him anything you heard the sound of your phone coming from your purse.
Quickly you went to answer it.
Taehyung stood there as he watched you speak on the phone, leaning on the fence.

"I'm sorry I have to go and meet Jisoo" you walked back to him, Taehyung nodded.
"I'll see you on Monday Y/n" he said.
You gave a light nod in agreement and you walked back to the elevator. You stopped and turned as you didn't know if you were admiring the view or the man facing you.

Monday couldn't come any slower; it seemed the days were stretched and lasted the double amount of time. You were so bored yet ecstatic that you didn't know what to do with yourself, even Jisoo didn't know what to do with you...and that says a lot. You once even went shopping with Jimin and her, you were that desperate.

You couldn't wait to go to work and feel useful and resourceful again. You knew you were good at your job and you couldn't wait to work with Hoseok on new projects.
On Monday morning you went with Jisoo and Jin to the restaurant. Jisoo escorted you to the office on the first floor. There you met Hoseok who was eager to show you around and present you to everyone.

You were always surprised by the amount of energy that the guy had. And it all went very well with his appearance; Hoseok was so eccentric, he was always the brightest light in the room. His outfits complimented his character. The animal printed suit suited him wonderfully you thought.

You spent the last couple of hours getting used to your new job: Hoseok did a remarkable job guiding you through everything. You were amazed at the magnitude of the business; it wasn't just a restaurant chain as you thought. I was a full-blown franchise with its own patented products and recipes that was striving to expand worldwide.

You caught some free time to go and get a cup of tea. As you were walking through the hallway you glanced here and there in search of Taehyung; you haven't seen him there that morning and you kept wondering whether you were going to see him at all.

While you were standing in the hall, drinking your tea, you noticed your shirt was unbuttoned, leaving your cleavage exposed.

Oh shit, fuck! When did this happen?

You turned to the wall, trying to hide yourself while you were trying your best to button your shirt as quickly as possible.

"Fuck! I hope no one saw me like this" you muttered. "This is pathetic!" you continued to speak to yourself.

"That's weird because I thought that was hot" you heard a voice coming from the side.

You pressed yourself more against the wall as you finished fixing your shirt.
Frustrated, you turned to face the man that was walking toward you.
"Oh my God you did not actually say that" you said irritated.
You were humiliated and angry. Angry at yourself but annoyed at the guy making fun of you.
His inappropriate comment made you lash out at him.
"How old are you?"
"What?" the guy asked amused.
"I just think its childish to make such inappropriate comments".
" Honey you're the one that was walking around half naked" he said, clearly having way too much fun.

You blushed as you checked once again your shirt, terrified that it might happen again.

"But I didn't mind it at all" he said leaning on the wall beside you, with his hands in his pockets.
"Stop it, that's inappropriate" you pointed out.
" Okay I will if you tell me your name" he then said with a smirk on his lips.
"What a cheesy pick-up line" you rolled your eyes.
He smiled at you entertained.

His tall figure was hovering above you and you couldn't help but notice how good-looking the guy was.

He had a cocky little smirk on his lips and suggestive eyes. The way he was leaning on the wall made it easy for you to observe him more; it was pretty clear he was an athletic guy as his muscles pressed on his tight shirt. He had an overall different appearance from the rest of the people working there you thought.

His tattooed arm and earrings made him stand out even more.

Not a bad sight at all...too bad he was an idiot.

"You're cute being angry like that" he gestured in your direction.
"Could you please go and bother someone else? I have work to do" you turned, adamant to go back to work and forget the awkward situation.

"Hey baby just so you know; your shirt isn't buttoned correctly, your tits are showing through the hole."

Your eyes widened as you started to walk faster, adjusting the shirt one more and cursing at yourself.

He stood there, still leaning on the wall, delighted by the scene.

As more time passed you seemed to have forgotten the humiliating incident, delving more into your work.
Hoseok told you that you were going with him to a meeting, just to observe and take notes on the upcoming projects as it was your first day of work.
While you were gathering your things, getting ready to attend the meeting a knock on the door made you turn around. Taehyung was standing near the door; his wide shirt was tucked into his tight black pants as he was nibbling on his sunglasses. The sight of him standing there, looking at you while absently biting the plastic of the sunglasses made you nearly gasp for air.

"I thought I might find you here".
"H... hi" you mumbled.
"How is your first day going?" he asked.
" It's fine, Hoseok is very nice".
"He better be" Taehyung joked.
"Are you going to the meeting" you asked him.
"Yes I am, I'll meet you there." He was about to head out "Oh and Y/n?".

"Yes?".
"After the meeting is over don't rush home, we are going to dinner".

"You and I...?" you asked with a confused expression.

"All of us. I'm inviting you to join us".
"Oh...okay" you lowered your head, your cheeks burning hot.
"But I'm definitely taking you out to dinner these days" he added right before exiting the room.
You felt your stomach contort itself as you kept looking the floor, overwhelmed by the sensation.

You walked with Hoseok and Namjoon to the meeting area; you were so immersed in your documents that you didn't notice that someone was already sitting at the table.
You lifted your head and saw Taehyung sitting, being busy on the phone.

Your eyes widened as you realized who was sitting beside him. The guy you ran into a couple of hours ago was sitting, rocking gently on the chair, eyeing you up.

He still had that smirk as he smoothly leaned over the table, not breaking eye contact with you. He could clearly see he made you nervous and he liked it.

"Well hello again you" he licked his lips.
"What..." you muttered to yourself.
"Oh so you've already met" Namjoon noticed.
"No, we just ran into each other in the hallway" you clarified, not sure why.
"Y/n this is Jeon Jungkook, Jungkook this is Y/n. There... here you go" Hoseok said pointing distractedly at the both of you, clearly too busy with his laptop.
"So that's your name. It's a pleasure to meet you Y/n".

"Likewise" you responded, taking your seat and trying your best to avoid his gaze.
You didn't seem to notice that a very much alert Taehyung was observing the scene with the corner of his eye.

You couldn't believe you made a fool of yourself in front of what it seemed to be your boss. And you didn't just make a fool out of you, you insulted him as well.

Whatever, he deserved that. He was widely inappropriate a part of you kept repeating.

However, you still worked for him so you thought it would be best if you apologized after the meeting and forgot about it all.

From across the table Jungkook was studying your every move and every expression. He couldn't believe how much you were embarrassed by the situation and it made him even more pleased.

"Yeah... she flashed me a couple of hours ago in the corridor. It was the best way to meet our new executive marketing manager".

Your eyes widened disproportionately as another hot wave rushed to your cheeks while Taehyung stiffened.

You couldn't believe he had actually said that.
"What? No I didn't. I was an accident" you almost shouted.
"Y/n it's fine. No one believes the shit Kook says, you'll see: you will get used to him. Now, you get ready...Jungkook quit fucking with Y/n's head. Let's roll people." Hoseok clapped his hands trotting nervously to his seat.

"Dickhead" you mouthed at Jungkook.

He chuckled and then winked at you as he began to listen to Hoseok's presentation.
Meanwhile, Taehyung was still watching you two interact.
