CHAPTER 17
You were supposed to meet Jisoo at the bridal shop; it was finally time for her to choose her dream dress and you couldn't have waited any longer.
You were eager to see your best friend in white for the first time, helping her find the right one.
"Babe, I'll be there in five minutes" you answered the phone as you made your way through the people on the streets of Seoul.
That day was an unusual sunny day for the last week of February. You enjoyed the morning sun on your skin.
"Hurry up Y/n, we have a lot to do today" Jisoo said on the other side of the line.
You hang up before crossing the street, she was waiting you at the corner.
You waved at her, catching her attention.
"Sorry for being late. Got stuck in traffic" you apologized when you reached her.
"Never mind" she kissed you on the cheek "I had to make a phone call anyway" she said while still holding her phone and laptop in her hands.
"Oh no, you need to put those away right now" you scolded her once you noticed that.
"I don't want to hear about contracts, clients or any law-related words" you took the laptop away from her. "Today I want you to focus on this" you pointed at the entrance of the shop.
"It's easier to focus on work. At least I'm good at that" Jisoo said while shaking her arms nervously.
Planning a wedding was no joke and it had started to take a toll on her; all that venue viewing, cake tasting and invitation picking wasn't really for her. She'd much prefer to focus on her job and let Jin do all the work.
She instantly relaxed as she thought of him; every time she'd freak-out over some minor inconvenience, he'd be there to comfort her. Jin was caring and gentle; he was always there for her. Ready to make her smile every time she needed it.
"Stop being such a drama queen. You'll do just fine" you opened the door for her. "Shall we?"
Jisoo looked at you and then at the open door, intimidated.
You signalized her to enter with your eyes making her gulp loudly before entering in.
The lovely workers assisted you immediately, guiding you to de dresses.
Your mouth fell agape once your eyes landed on the spacious room filled with wedding dresses.
There was almost every type of dress you could imagine; princess style, mermaid style, long sleeve, short sleeve, sleeveless, satin, teal, silk and more. All you needed to do now was find something for her to wear.
You two looked each other in the eyes before getting to work, reviewing every single one.
Jisoo had tried a couple of them but none had really made an impact on you two.
"So what's going on between Kook and you?" you heard Jisoo ask from the other side of the fitting room.
"What? What do you mean?" you sipped your champagne while sitting on the velvet couch.
You were waiting for her to try her sixth dress.
"You know... you two had been spending an awful amount of time together lately" Jisoo continued.
"What's up with that?"
You furrowed your forehead.
That was true; in the last month or so Jungkook and you had been hanging out from time to time, mostly to play videogames. You enjoyed being with him, as a friend of course. Sure, you found him very attractive and he managed every now and then to make your heart beat faster and your cheeks turn red but that wasn't a big deal. It wasn't something to concern over. You were friends and you liked him for his quirky personality. The more you spent time with him, the more you noticed how similar you guys were. And it went beyond the mutual liking of movies or videogames; no, it was something much more profound than that.
You could see yourself in his way of thinking or dealing with the world and sometimes that would scare the hell out of you, how similar you were. But you were also different in many ways, allowing you to learn from him and to better yourself. And of course none of that would ever be told to Jungkook; as far as he knew you still found him annoying. Annoying but funny and entertaining.
A friend. Because that's what he was: a friend.
"He's my friend Jisoo".
"Just a friend?".
"Just a friend".
"You're playing with fire Y/n".
"No I'm not" you scoffed irritated. "Why are you making a big deal out of it? We like to hang out from time to time. Why is it so hard to understand that we are friends?" you raised your tone slightly. She was starting to get on your nerves with all those questions.
"And Tae?" Jisoo asked.
"What about Tae?".
" What does he think about you two spending time together?" you heard her voice from inside the changing room.
"He doesn't mind" you answered annoyed.
Taehyung had tolerated the fact that you two were friends even though he didn't like it. He tried not to say anything about it and you limited your time with Jungkook.
"And how are you guys doing?" Jisoo asked.
"What? Why are you asking me that?" you asked back. "We're fine. Everything's fine" you folded your arms.
"Sure?".
"Yeah. Sure".
"alright" Jisoo sighed. "I'm done. Are you ready to see the dress?" she asked changing the topic.
"Yes I am babe" you softened your tone.
"Okay. Here I come"
You became speechless once she stepped out.
The gorgeous, voluminous dress fit her perfectly; the rhinestone encrusted corset hugged her figure amazingly as the heavy pearl white fabric run down to the floor, forming a spacious circle around her. The veil rested on her head graciously as her soft dark locks framed her face.
She was angelic.
Suddenly you felt tears running from your eyes while emotions took over, overwhelming you.
"Jisoo, oh my God" was the only thing you could say before covering your mouth with your hand.
She teared as well before gently lifting her shoulders. "I think this is the one" she smiled.
"Yes. This is the one" you agreed with her.
"I can't believe you guys didn't invite me" Jimin stabbed his meat with the knife.
"I'm sorry Jimin-ah" Jisoo tried to rub his shoulder but he pulled back pouting.
"This was something I had to do with my maid of honor" she looked you in a lovingly way. "But I promise you I'll bring you with me for the next big thing. God knows I need the help" she sighed.
"The dress was the most important part" Jimin whined. "There is nothing left for me".
"You could help me with the rings" Jisoo suggested.
"Keep talking" Jimin raised an eyebrow.
" You could help me with the shoes also" Jisoo added.
" And the flowers, and the sitting chart...basically everything" she chuckled.
"And you could also help us find me a dress" you interjected.
Jimin's eyes sparkled.
"Fine" Jimin said. "But I'll get to choose what you'll wear as the maid of honor. You don't get a say in it" he quickly shifted his attention to Jisoo before giving you the chance to object. "And you" he pointed at her "You're paying for this lunch" he narrowed his eyes making you laugh.
Jimin was the cutest human being on earth.
"Fine. But we'll need to hurry. I need to meet Jin by 4pm" Jisoo checked her watch.
"But I thought the three of us would hang together" Jimin objected.
"Sorry Jimin, we can't today. Jin and I are going to meet my family later" Jisoo explained.
"Maybe tomorrow?" she asked.
"Maybe. We'll see" Jimin raised his chin up. "What about you? Do you want to come home with me or are you busy as well?" he asked you.
"Of course I'll go home with you. Where would I go?" you raised your brows while taking a bite of the beef you guys ordered.
"Oh I don't know. I thought since you're busy cheating on us with Jungkookie maybe you had made plans with him" Jimin answered irritated.
"See? You see now how that feels?" Jisoo glanced at him making you giggle.
"No. I don't have plans with him today but if you want I can ask him to come to our place" you said with a playful tone.
"No" Jimin hugged you "Today is our day. No Jungkook, Taehyung, Jisoo or Hoseok. We don't need them today"
"Fine" you laughed.
Jimin's plans to have a quiet night at home with you were quickly altered as one by one the whole group came to hang at your place; firstly arrived Taehyung, unannounced, then Hoseok returned home after a change of plans with his boyfriend. Then Jisoo and Jin decided to make a quick stop on their way back. Yoongi decided to make a visit a swell, picking Namjoon up on the way. The last to arrive was Jungkook.
All nine of you were sitting in the living room, chatting and eating as the day progressed.
There were so many unannounced people that made Jimin almost burst in flames.
"You know guys this isn't a hotel. You can't come and go whenever you please" he whined as he watched bowls of ramen being passed around him.
Everyone ignored him while eating and talking.
"Yoongi-ah, come here" Jin made Yoongi some room near him "Let's eat together. I'll feed you"
"Why?" Yoongi asked
"Yoongi-ah!" Jin raised his voice. "If your hyung asks you to do something, you do it. Now come here so I can feed you"
You watched this scary looking man sit near Jin as he let him feed him. It was utterly bizarre.
"I've never seen Yoongi obey someone like that" you confessed.
Yoongi was the type of person that wouldn't take anyone's shit so seeing him being scolded and ordered around by none other than Jin was funny and strange to you.
"That's because you don't know Jin and Yoongi" Jungkook looked at you.
" No one is more afraid of Jin than Yoongi" Namjoon said.
"Well, to be fair we're kind of all low-key scared of Jin" Hoseok added "He can be pretty bossy"
"Yeah but Yoongi fears him the most" Jimin said.
"It's not a matter of being afraid but a matter of respect" Yoongi felt the need to interject with his mouth full of ramen that was fed by Jin. "He's my only hyung here, I feel the need to obey him".
"Well..." Jimin interfered "Yeah maybe but you're also scared of him".
"It's not a big deal though" he quickly added when he noticed the glare that Yoongi gave him.
"Look at Jin for example; he's afraid of Jungkook"
You watched Jungkook smirk.
"And Jungkook is afraid of Yoongi" Taehyung added.
"A perfect cycle" Namjoon concluded.
"Here. Now that that's done can I go to the bathroom now?" Yoongi asked Jin when he finished his meal.
"Yes you can" Jin gave the okay.
"Guys what are we going to do for Yoongi's birthday?" Taehyung asked once Yoongi left the room.
"Does anybody have ideas?" Namjoon asked.
"What about going fishing?" Jin suggested.
"No one apart from you wants that, Jin" Jungkook said.
"You can go fishing on your own hyung" Jimin added leaving Jin speechless.
He looked at Jisoo for support but she shook her head "Sorry love, you're on your own when it comes to that" she shrugged her shoulders.
"What about camping" Namjoon then suggested "We could all rent an RV, maybe two and go for a couple of days on a camping trip. It would be fun".
"That sounds lovely" Hoseok smiled exited.
"It's a great idea" Jungkook agreed as the others nodded.
"Great, so does everybody agree?" Taehyung asked.
"Yeah".
"sure".
"Sounds alright to me".
"I like the idea too" you added.
"We'll organize everything during the next week. Be prepared to leave for a trip in ten days or so" Namjoon quickly said before Yoongi returned to his seat.
You looked exited at Taehyung. You were happy to take a mini trip for Yoongi's birthday; it was finally starting to get a little warmer and work was overwhelming lately so it would be really good to rest for a couple of days in nature, you thought. Plus, it would be really fun to hang out with everybody.
"How's work everyone?" Yoongi asked as he sat next to Jin who patted his head proudly.
"Chaos" Namjoon said.
"We can barely keep up with everything" Taehyung added.
"But that's good...right? It means that business is growing" Yoongi said.
"Yes but it's getting too much for us. We need to hire more people to monitor the shipping of products overseas" Namjoon said "We've already started looking for more employees".
"And we need to find ourselves an assistant" Jungkook added.
"An assistant for the three of you?" you asked. Taehyung didn't mention it to you.
Jungkook nodded "Yes. We've already found a couple of candidates. They're coming for an interview tomorrow with HR".
"You've never told me that" you turned your head to Taehyung.
He shrugged his shoulders "It wasn't something worth mentioning".
Taehyung and you were in a strange phase in your relationship. It was obvious to you that you were in a rough patch. Your relationship was turning stale and you both were feeling it.
There were so many things that bordered him about you and so many things about him that you found annoying. You were still in love with each other but he wasn't doing anything to better things up and you were saddened by that. You felt like he didn't care so much anymore.
You remembered your conversation with Jimin about it a couple of weeks ago.
He found you sitting alone in your room with a sad expression on your face.
"What's going on Y/n? Why are you sad?" Jimin sat next to you.
"It's Taehyung, Jiminie" you sighed "I think he doesn't love me anymore".
"Why are you saying that? You know how much he loves you" Jimin rubbed your back "You're the first girl he's ever loved this much".
"Then why doesn't it feel like it? It feels like I'm annoying him constantly, like he's bordered by me every time we're together. What's wrong in our relationship? I don't understand" you buried your head in the crook of Jimin's neck as he hugged you.
"I think he's hurting Y/n. For the same reasons you are" Jimin sighed "I think you two should talk more and express your feelings better. It's obvious how much you love each other otherwise you wouldn't be hurt this much by it, both of you".
"He talked to you about us?"
"Of course he did" Jimin said "And trust me when I say to you that he's heartbroken. He really wants to better things up. You two should really talk".
But you never did. Neither one of you.
In the last couple of weeks you just coexisted. You hadn't had the guts to do it yet.
But it was time. You decided you'd fix things up that same night.
"Tae would you like to stay over? I really want you to" you smiled as you blushed.
Taehyung's expression softened once he saw you.
"Sure" he answered.
You smiled before giving him a kiss on the cheek, making him flustered.
"I know why you want to hire an assistant Kook" Jisoo said to him "You need to find someone to fool around with and who better than the hot secretary that works for you".
Jungkook chuckled.
"That's not the reason but hey" Jungkook bit his lips "why not?".
"Jungkook, if you fuck our assistant I'll fire you" Namjoon calmly said.
"You can't fire me" Jungkook laughed amused.
"Oh how I wish I could" Namjoon sighed making everyone laugh.
"What's up with that anyway Kook? You didn't brag about girls in a while now". Hoseok asked.
"Don't feel like it" Jungkook shrugged his shoulders.
In the last few weeks Jungkook didn't want nor did he care about that. He wasn't feeling the urge to venture in his club at night to find girls to have fun with.
He didn't really know why though.
Sure, he still had urges but he took care of them all by himself. And sure, every now and then you popped up in his fantasies but that wasn't a big deal. He felt stupid, masturbating to the idea of you like a teenage boy instead of being with real women but he didn't feel any regret in picturing you next to him. Because sure, you were his friend's girlfriend but he wasn't harming anyone; it was just a fantasy and nothing more. And it wasn't happening often, just once in a while.
"What's that now? Jeon Jungkook has lost the desire to go around and fuck random girls" Jisoo gasped as she brought her hand to her chest "Blasphemy".
" What has happened to you?".
"Maybe he's met someone but is too shy to share with us" Hoseok joined.
Instantly, as Hoseok said so, Jisoo's eyes travelled to you watching Jungkook smile.
She had a strange, unexplainable feeling about the whole friendship thing between Jungkook and you.
A knot formed in her stomach as she thought about it.
"No" Jungkook smiled as he shook his head "Haven't met anyone".
The conversation the three of them were having made you shorten your breath.
The idea of him meeting someone didn't agree with you, leaving a strange feeling inside you.
You quickly dismissed your thought as you brought your attention to Taehyung who was sipping his drink peacefully.
You came closer to him, pressing your body on his before giving him a sweet kiss on the lips.
They tasted sweet like the drink he was having.
Taehyung was surprised by it but kissed you back, more intensely than you.
Your heart started to beat faster when you felt his warm breath on your skin as he pulled away from you by an inch. You looked each other in the eyes before smiling lovingly.
From across the coffee table, Jungkook's jaw clenched a bit in seeing you two kiss before taking his gaze away, bringing it to the floor.
And Jisoo had seen it all.
