Seungcheol was driving his car to office when he noticed another anonymous car following him for long enough.
He quickly connected a call, "Vernon, Dino, I've sent you my live location. A car is behind me, take control of the nearby cctv's and find out who this is."
Dino's voice echoed, "What if he's that stalker?"
"I don't know, check it."
Soon enough, Vernon stated, "No no, he's Hyeseok's man. There is his mark above the number plate of the car.
"But-" Dino intervened, "The stalker can be Hyeseok's person too?"
"Pretty-much." Seungcheol nodded, "Don't worry, I'll handle the rest. You just keep tracking that car."
"Hyung, one cctv of a mall caught his picture. It's a bit blur but I've sent you." Vernon stated.
Seungcheol checked the image, not really recognising the person. He increased the speed of his car, keeping in mind, the place to trap the person.
He continued but after a while, the car was out of sight.
"Vernon? The car disappeared." Seungcheol addressed over the call.
"I know hyung-" Vernon frowned, "An alleyway came and after that we can't spot the car. There's no cctv around."
"Now what?" Seungcheol scrunched his brows.
"I don't know." Vernon muttered, "He really disappeared in thin air."
"Ask Hoshi to send some people to that alleyway where he disappeared." Seungcheol stated and cut the call.
He reached the office and parked his car when his phone buzzed.
He opened the messages and his phone almost slipped off his hand.
It was a picture of the same man who was following him but he was, dead.
Don't worry darling, I took care of him.
I know you could have done the same but
let me show what I can do as well.
Your enemies are quite dumb though.
I understand why you're always
so frustrated. Calm down and try to enjoy life.
Bye bye, love you, idiot.
His phone rung again as he picked up, "Yeah, Mingyu?"
"When are you coming to office?"
"I've just arrived, what happened?"
"The man who was following you is-"
"Dead. I know."
"What- how?"
"Gather in my cabin, I'm coming." He hung up the call and reached his cabin quickly.
"Hyung-"
"I'm going to kill everyone for real." Seungcheol slammed his hand on the desk.
"What happened?" Jun asked.
Seungcheol showed the messages to everyone.
"Damn-" Seokmin gasped, "He killed? He kills? He can kill? I thought he's a lover boy or something."
"And over that, how does he know everything?" Hoshi added.
"That's the point." Seungcheol stated, "The fact that he knows everything about me even before I do is very concerning. If he turns out to be someone from our enemies then we all will have to deal with unnecessary trouble. And I absolutely don't want it."
"Hyung, I think you should calm down and carefully look back. You might be missing some clues because of recklessness." Jun suggested.
"I know." Seungcheol sighed as he heard a knock on the door.
"Better not be Mr. Yoon." Mingyu muttered to Hoshi.
"Come in." Seungcheol stated.
Jeonghan stepped in. He was taken aback for a moment by seeing everyone in the cabin. He bowed to all and went to Seungcheol's desk.
"Good morning." Jeonghan muttered while reporting his presence on the side tab as he had been asked to. Not to mention again, he was the new assistant of Seungcheol, so yeah.
"Good morning." Seungcheol mumbled, "What brings you here?"
"I swear you've a very weak memory power." Jeonghan stated slowly so that others won't here, "I'm your new assistant and you told me to report my attendance here when you come to office."
"Whatever." Seungcheol mumbled to himself, "I'm so stressed right now."
"You reap what you sow." Jeonghan muttered without looking at him.
Seungcheol didn't say anything, not in the mood to argue. Jeonghan left after doing his work.
"How am I supposed to stay calm and think when he's just messing with my mind 24/7?" Seungcheol scoffed.
"At least he's a good distraction from the stalker." Hoshi teased.
"This ain't funny!" Seungcheol whined.
<Serenity HQ>
"Hyung! Pack-up!" Wonwoo stood up, "We're going for drinks today."
"Yes finally, a good beginning of the upcoming weekend." Woozi chuckled.
"You all go, I've to go to Mr. Choi's cabin and work on a presentation." Jeonghan nodded.
"Ugh him again." Wonwoo rolled his eyes.
"He's being too much." Woozi was disappointed.
"Don't worry, just go." Jeonghan smiled for them.
Both of them left while patting his shoulder after which Jeonghan went to Seungcheol's cabin.
"You sit, I'm coming in a while." Seungcheol walked out.
Jeonghan sat while settling his laptop and file on the desk. He waited for the older after which he rested his head on the table and didn't realise when he dozed off.
Seungcheol arrived after a while and noticed Jeonghan's serene face. He stood by the doorway, staring at the younger and getting drowned by each moment.
And it irritated him even more. He didn't like getting drawn to someone in this way. He hated how Jeonghan had this effect on him. He wanted to look away but he just couldn't.
It was as if Jeonghan was a work of art and he was the admirer, a secret one.
Seungcheol shrugged, warning his mind to stop making a fuss. He knocked at the table as Jeonghan flinched and sat up straight.
"Having a rough day, I see." Seungcheol walked around to sit on his chair.
"Yeah, because of a particular someone." Jeonghan drank a glass of water.
"Go wash your face." Seungcheol pointed at the attached washroom in his cabin.
"I think so too." Jeonghan grumbled while walking away, slamming the door shut.
"I'm sure you hold grudges with doors." Seungcheol chuckled.
"With people too." Jeonghan spoke from inside.
Seungcheol focused on the screen after which he heard Jeonghan struggling with the door. Thinking, it was nothing much, Seungcheol teased, "I think the door is taking its revenge."
"Mr. Choi- it's not funny." Jeonghan was serious, "I think I'm stuck."
"Stuck?" Seungcheol looked back.
Jeonghan tried to open the door, "Yeah, I guess?"
Seungcheol stood up and approached the washroom, trying to open it, "Are you sure it's not locked?"
"I'm not interested in locking myself in a washroom and act like I'm stuck." Jeonghan retorted.
Seungcheol tried several times but failed, "Mr. Yoon, get aside, I'll break it."
"What?! Noo." Jeonghan stated, "I won't be paying for it."
Seungcheol sighed, "I didn't ask you to. Just move aside or your face is breaking along with the door."
"Okay, I did."
Seungcheol inhaled a deep breath after which he applied a good amount of force against the door and broke it open.
Jeonghan's eyes widened, "Damn you did it! That was hot."
Seungcheol frowned, "You were better stuck there." He just couldn't understand Jeonghan's behavior at times.
"Sorry I forgot a stone face like you can't take compliments." Jeonghan walked out.
"I-" Seungcheol gave up as he followed him out, giving a pitiful look to the door.
"I wish you were as kind to me as you're being to the door right now." Jeonghan sat on his chair.
"You still have this job means I'm kind enough." Seungcheol took his seat as well.
"This job is the only reason you're getting a taste of victory each time." Jeonghan rolled his eyes.
"Or else? What would you have done, Mr. Yoon?" Seungcheol grinned.
"First of all, wipe that annoying smirk off your face." Jeonghan muttered.
"How so?" Seungcheol leaned in, "Do you mean you would have kissed me if I wasn't your boss?"
Jeonghan's breath hitched at the sudden shift of words between them, "You're being too bold, aren't you?"
"I thought that was hot." Seungcheol teased him yet again.
"You love to get on my nerves, don't you?" Jeonghan tried to maintain his composure.
"C'mon, who won't love to see this flustered face of yours?" Seungcheol winked.
"I hope you aren't drunk, Mr. Choi because we've to work." Jeonghan scoffed.
"Indeed." Seungcheol nodded as they started working on the presentation.
They were sitting opposite to each other as Jeonghan leaned forward to show the older his laptop's screen while explaining it. But Seungcheol's thoughts halted as he was met with a familiar scent.
Seungcheol held Jeonghan's wrist and inched closer to sniffle it.
"I'll recognise you just by your tempting scent."
"W-what are you doing?" Jeonghan gasped, trying to retract his wrist.
Seungcheol stood up from his chair and walked around the desk. He turned Jeonghan's chair towards himself and rested his hand on the seat's back.
Seungcheol leaned in, his hot breath grazing over Jeonghan's neck. Seungcheol scrunched his brows, he couldn't recall the face no matter how much he tried. The scent was familiar but he wasn't very sure.
"Mr. Choi-" Jeonghan placed his palm over the older's chest, "What are you doing?"
Seungcheol stared at the younger, "Have we met before?"
"I work at this place, of course we did." Jeonghan tried to stay calm, as if the proximity wasn't affecting him at all.
"In LA?" Seungcheol raised a brow.
"Why would we meet in LA?" Jeonghan maintained the eye contact, "What are you talking about?"
"This scent-" Seungcheol frowned, "Is very familiar."
"Are you crazy? I don't own this scent." Jeonghan's hand remained on the older's chest, "Many people have it."
Jeonghan had a point. Seungcheol knew it but it was just hard to believe. The logic was fighting against his intuitions and he couldn't take a side.
"Mr. Choi- you're too close." Jeonghan's palms turned into a fist over the older's coat.
"And? Is it reminding you of something?" Seungcheol chose to interrogate more.
"I don't know what are you talking about." Jeonghan looked away.
"Don't turn your face, look at me when I talk." Seungcheol whispered.
"Mr. Choi stop asking me ridiculous questions." Jeonghan stated.
"You weren't in LA, about six months ago?" Seungcheol asked.
"Six months?" Jeonghan tried to recall, "I was- yeah- in LA. Wait- how do you know?! And why do you know?!"
"What hotel?"
"Why would I tell you?"
Seungcheol inched closer to him, "Because, I'm asking."
"I wasn't at any hotel. I was at my cousin's place." Jeonghan nodded.
"Call that cousin right now." Seungcheol ordered.
"She must be sleeping right now-"
"I don't care."
"Enough Mr. Choi, you aren't allowed to invade my personal life like this. Why am I supposed to make you talk to my cousin? Why am I supposed to tell you about my whereabouts outside the office premises? You just pay me for my job, you don't own me."
Seungcheol stood straight and sighed. It was true, he was going crazy because of the stalker, specially because of the morning's incident. He knew he was making ridiculous demands.
But he couldn't help it. Jeonghan was wearing that same scent and turned out he was in LA around that time too. He knew Jeonghan wasn't at a place to lie because if he would have taken a station leave, it must be in the records. So it was obvious why he didn't lie.
It was too much of a coincidence which was itching Seungcheol's mind. He recalled the day when Jeonghan was at the same club where he had got a text from the stalker.
Seungcheol stared at the younger. He was suspicious but he didn't have any proof. If Jeonghan was right in his place then he would be painted as the ridiculous one.
"You better not be lying, Mr. Yoon." Seungcheol warned.
"Lying over what?" Jeonghan looked up, "I can't even understand what you're saying. Why are we suddenly talking about my whereabouts of six months ago? Why do you abruptly have to sniffle my not so unique scent?"
"Because I believe we've met before, even before I came here."
"I'm pretty sure I'm fortunate enough to be met with you only when you came back and not before that." Jeonghan retorted.
Seungcheol remained silent. He was searching for a hint of hesitation on Jeonghan's face. But he looked stern. His voice wasn't betraying him and he was focused. Was he really saying the truth?
"Now what are you trying to read on my face?" Jeonghan snapped his fingers, "Mr. Choi, I think you need to rest or something."
Seungcheol realised that it wasn't enough. He either needed to recall the face or get an absolute proof to know who is the person behind the text.
"You may leave." Seungcheol composed himself, "The presentation will be taken care of."
Jeonghan sighed in relief as he quickly collected his stuff and walked out of the cabin. He made a call to Joshua, "Is it still worth it to join in?"
"Yeah of course, I'll text you the place. We are going to party hard!!"
"Thank god." Jeonghan hung up the call and rushed to his car, happy to be able to join his friends.
Meanwhile, Seungcheol slumped down on his chair, still trying to process everything.
And in that haste, he didn't realise that he didn't recieve any text that night.
