18 - Diet Mountain Dew
<Serenity HQ Terrace>
The celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Serenity Hyperbotics was in an uproar. Seungcheol had confidently given a speech and after him a few senior members had also spoken their hearts out.
As the party proceeded, the senior authorities took their leave as all the employees were left alone to enjoy without any filter.
"It has been a long time for us to celebrate this freely!" Minghao nodded, sipping his wine.
"All thanks to Wonwoo hyung's boyfriend." Seungkwan teased, "He was in charge of the planning."
"Shut up, will you?" Wonwoo rolled his eyes.
"Woozi should have been here too!" Joshua scoffed.
"Yeah, you're right." Jeonghan nodded.
While on the other side, there was another person who was restless for the same.
"What happened hyung?" Dino asked as he swung his hand around Hoshi's shoulder.
"Nothing, I think I'm going to leave." Hoshi stated.
"Already?" Jun raised a brow.
"Yeah- I'm having a severe headache." Hoshi acted out, "I'll have to leave."
"It's okay, take good care!" Dino and Mingyu bid him a goodbye.
"Now why is he so grumpy?" Jun pointed at Mingyu.
"Let's go." Dino stated.
"What happened to you?" Seokmin patted Mingyu's shoulders.
"I swear! I'm getting best wishes for dating Mr. Jeon rather than receiving praises for organising all this." Mingyu gulped a shot of alcohol, "Why can't people understand that we aren't even dating? And moreover, why can't they just mind their damn business?"
"Calm down, Mingyu." Seungcheol said in a laid back tone.
"For real, they'll fade away in a few days." Vernon nodded.
"Exactly, everyone will forget sooner or later." Dino stated.
"But I won't." Mingyu clenched his jaw, "I'll make him regret this!"
"Well, all the best, I guess?" Jun shrugged.
"And-" Seungcheol halted when he saw Jeonghan getting a bit too casual with another employee. He recognised him as Park Junwoo, the HOD of the accountancy department.
His grip on the glass of alcohol tightened as he watched Jeonghan's hand resting on Junwoo's arm as they continued to laugh together. What was so funny that they had to laugh like crazy?
He took a gulp of his alcohol, jealousy and possessiveness flaring up in each of his veins as he tried to maintain his composure.
"Hyung-" Jun nudged him as all of them sensed the tension.
"And he says he has no feelings for him." Dino whispered to Vernon as both of them laughed to themselves.
"I heard it." Seokmin sternly stated but then grinned, "And I agree."
"Let's give him some space." Mingyu suggested.
Seungcheol took another sip of the bitter drink, his eyes never leaving Jeonghan and Junwoo. Something about the way they were laughing and interacting together didn't sit right with him.
Seungcheol continued to watch the two, his mind racing with unpleasant thoughts. Every laugh, every touch, every smile between the two men only served to anger and frustrate him further.
He knew he shouldn't let jealousy get the better of him, but he couldn't help it. Jeonghan was his (since when?), and the thought of him talking and laughing with another man so casually, it made him feel inadequate.
Jeonghan felt Seungcheol's gaze on himself as he clung onto Junwoo's arm. Seungcheol clenched his fists, the sight making his blood boil, "I swear, don't play this game, Jeonghan."
Seungcheol drowned the rest of his drink in one gulp, the alcohol burning his throat like fire. He needed something, anything, to calm his racing thoughts and cool his boiling blood.
Jeonghan excused himself from Junwoo and headed to the restroom, feeling Seungcheol's gaze on him the entire time. As soon as he entered the restroom, he leaned against the sink and let out a deep breath.
He knew he was playing with fire by flirting so openly with his colleague-cum-friend, in front of Seungcheol. But he couldn't resist the thrill of it, the adrenaline rush it gave to him to see the older so agitated.
Jeonghan splashed water on his face, feeling the cool liquid soothe his heated skin. He looked up and caught a glimpse of Seungcheol standing a few feet away, watching him intently. Nevertheless, he ignored his presence and took a few tissues to dry his face.
"You're going to pretend I'm not here?" Seuncheol leaned against the wall.
"Are you talking to me?" Jeonghan pointed at himself.
Seungcheol pushed himself off the wall and took a step closer with a low grin, "You know damn well who I'm talking to, darling."
"Darling?" Jeonghan raised a brow while looking at Seungcheol through the mirror, "I doubt if you're supposed to address me with that."
"Oh really? You're going to act all innocent now?" Seungcheol took another step closer, his body almost touching Jeonghan's back, "After what you just pulled out there with Mr. Park or whosoever he is?"
Jeonghan turned around, pressing his index finger against Seungcheol's chest to slowly push him away, "You don't need to worry about that."
"Oh, I don't?" Seungcheol grabbed his wrist firmly, "And why is that?"
"Because you don't have the right to interfere in my life, simple as that." Jeonghan retorted, "Our deal for being together is for a mission not for personal life."
"I don't have the right, yeah." Seungcheol trapped the younger between the sink and himself, "Then what am I supposed to do when you get a bit too casual with other guys like that?"
"Nothing?" Jeonghan raised a brow, "Don't you have a life? Mind your own damn business."
Seungcheol leaned closer, "Right now, you are the only business I have."
"Shut up already." Jeonghan chuckled mockingly, "I'll do anything I want with whoever I want, be it flirting or more than that. You better stay in your limits."
"Limits are meant to be crossed." Seungcheol pulled him even closer, "And don't forget, you're the one to provoke me."
"Provoke you? Don't make everything about yourself. The world doesn't revolve around you, Seungcheol." Jeonghan spat, "I'm doing whatever I want to, that's it."
Seungcheol slammed his spare hand against the sink, "And you don't care about the consequences?"
"Consequences are what you're facing right now, for pushing me away when you were supposed to bring this possessiveness up." Jeonghan retorted, "Now you, Choi Seungcheol, just watch that you're not the only prideful one here."
"Is that so?" Seungcheon grinned without humor, "This is what I've to face?"
"Exactly." Jeonghan escaped from Seungcheol's grip, "You just wait and watch, how far I can go. People have already started enjoying the music and dance, let me get a partner too."
"You can't be serious." Seungcheol clenched his fist, "You're not going to dance with that moron."
"I never asked for your permission." Jeonghan chuckled as he walked out of the restroom.
"Unbelievable." Seungcheol rejoined the party with a calm composure. Among the various pairs, he spotted Jeonghan dancing with Junwoo.
The party was at its peak, everyone was enjoying to themselves, having no care about what others were doing. Except for Seungcheol who couldn't seem to mind his own business.
His heart twisted in his chest, a sour taste forming in his mouth. The sight of Jeonghan being so close to someone else made him feel sick to his stomach.
Seungcheol couldn't take his eyes off Jeonghan and Junwoo, the sight of them dancing together making him feel more and more agitated by the second. He needed to find a way to break this up.
He spotted Dino nearby and quickly walked over to him, "Dino!" He said urgently, "You need to distract Mr. Park Junwoo for me."
"What's going on hyung?" Dino asked.
"Just do it." Seungcheol insisted, "Get him away from Jeonghan."
"Alright." Dino winked as he walked away.
"Excuse me." Dino approached Jeonghan and Junwoo, "Mr. Park, can you go to the entrance gate of the office, you've got someone to see you."
"Me?" Junwoo frowned.
"Yeah, a staff member just informed." Dino stated, "You're Park Junwoo, right?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'll see." Junwoo chuckled as he excused himself while Dino apologised to Jeonghan for interrupting and sprinted away.
"Need a dance partner, Mr. Yoon?" Seungcheol spoke from behind.
Jeonghan looked at the surroundings, inching closer to the older, "Was it your plan?"
"Plan?" Seungcheol pretended to be surprised, "I wonder what you mean."
Jeonghan clenched his jaw, "Don't be modest."
"C'mon." Seungcheol chuckled while offering his hand, "Dance?"
Jeonghan's eyes flared with a challenge as he accepted the older's offer, "Sure."
Seungcheol pulled the younger closer, their bodies almost flush against each other and started swaying to the music. He didn't miss the challenge in Jeonghan's eyes, and he was more than ready to take it on.
"Why are you doing all this?" Jeonghan asked.
"Doing what exactly?" Seungcheol's grip on Jeonghan's waist tightened.
A smile crept up on Jeonghan's face, "You don't even know how to dance properly. He held me better."
"Oh?" Seungcheol pulled him closer, "Well, I'm sure I can do a lot better than him in many other ways."
"Oh my god, I already miss him dancing with me." Jeonghan chuckled menacingly, "He was just too good with it."
"Really?" Seungcheol's voice laced with sarcasm, "Was he that good?"
"Pretty sure." Jeonghan clutched on the older's biceps, "I thought it was the few sips of alcohol that were making me feel good but no, his tender moves were the cause."
"I'm sure you don't like 'tender moves'." Seungcheol's breath was hot against the younger's skin, "And what are you trying to imply with all this huh?"
"I want to imply that-" Jeonghan inched closer to the older's ear, "That I really enjoyed dancing with him."
Seungcheol clenched his jaw, watching the younger cross all of his limits.
"It was a nice experience." Jeonghan chuckled mockingly, "Having his hands on me."
Having his hands on me.
Having.
His.
HANDS.
On.
Me.
"You enjoyed his hands on you right?" Seungcheol dragged him out of the crowd.
Once they reached a spare room on the outskirts of the party, Seungcheol pushed Jeonghan inside, locking the door behind them. The room was dimly lit, the sound of music faintly echoing from outside.
Jeonghan grinned to himself. His methods were working, a bit too well, "What happened? I was just expressing my genuine feelings."
Seungcheol took a few steady steps closer, "Genuine feelings my foot! You were just trying to provoke me."
"Alright, I was." Jeonghan mocked, "But why are you getting provoked Seungcheol? As far as I remember, you don't have even a single ounce of feeling for me."
"And what did I tell you just yesterday?!" Seungcheol intervened.
"I don't care! You didn't say it on the moment, that's it. I even asked you to take your time to answer me, I could have waited, but no? You were just too sure of yourself." Jeonghan accused, "Now, I'll touch, dance or even sleep with anyone I want. YOU don't have a say in that!"
Seungcheol's heart twisted in his chest at Jeonghan's harsh words. The younger's tone was filled with anger, hurt and defiance. Seungcheol knew he was to blame for all of this - he had messed up badly.
He took a step closer, his voice cracking, "I was wrong. I know I was wrong. But damnit, Jeonghan, you can't do this! You can't go around and flirt with others just to make me mad."
"Shut it, I'm not doing anything for you." Jeonghan retorted, "You shouldn't have intervened Seungcheol, I was taking things further with him, solely for myself."
"Try it and then see what happens." Seungcheol grabbed his wrist, "I won't let you."
"You don't get to say anything in this!" Jeonghan retorted, "Doesn't matter who I am choosing for myself, you shouldn't get bothered, got it?"
"Seriously?! I told you Jeonghan, I DO have feelings for you, just give me some time to prove it." Seungcheol paused, "I won't let you go with some random guy, never!"
"I. Don't. Give. Two. Flying. Fucks." Jeonghan made it clear, "Neither about you nor about your feelings. You're right, I'm doing all this because of you. But, not to get you mad. Rather, to move on from you."
"You don't mean that." Seungcheol tried to hide how hurt he was feeling, well, he himself didn't know he could break down at these words, "You can't just move on like that."
"Maybe or maybe not?" Jeonghan mocked, "But today's night would definitely be a great distraction, wouldn't it? He must be waiting for me."
"You're not going anywhere." Seungcheol held his shoulders firmly, "I'm not letting you go."
"I never asked you, Seungcheol. I'm not your toy to play with." Jeonghan retorted, "I'm a human being and I know what I've to do with myself. And right now, I've found a pretty good distraction from you."
Seungcheol felt as if each of his nerves would burst at any moment. He pinned the younger against the wall, "Stop this, Jeonghan. You can do anything to make me suffer but don't you dare let anyone touch you. You- are mine."
"I'm not at all yours." Jeonghan spat, "I'm no one's. I'm not a possession to belong to anyone and I totally HATE the way you're objectifying me."
"I didn't mean it in that way and you know that." Seungcheol explained, "I just can't bear the thought of you being with someone else."
"You brought it on yourself." Jeonghan stated, "I can and I will go with anyone I want to. Not to mention again but you don't have a say in that."
"You won't." Seungcheol's voice was low and dangerous, "Touch anyone else out there and you'll see their corpse lying right beside your feet."
"You won't dare." Jeonghan raised a brow.
"You very well know that I'm not bluffing." Seungcheol whispered, "You don't want the silence my gun invites."
"And why would you do that?" Jeonghan frowned, "First, you pushed me away. Then you can't digest me being with anyone else. What the fuck is your problem?"
"I messed up and I admitted it, didn't I?" Seungcheol scoffed, "Why can't you just give me a chance?"
"That's my choice." Jeonghan stated, "And I have decided whom I'm going to be, tonight."
"I won't let you, got it?" Seungcheol felt his blood boil, "I. Won't. Let. You."
Jeonghan laughed menacingly, "Look who thinks he has a place in my life to give his damn opinions."
"Stop it now Jeonghan, it's getting out of hand." Seungcheol's grip on the younger tightened.
"Or what?" Jeonghan inched closer to the older, "Or what are you going to do huh?"
Seungcheol's hand slipped to the younger's waist, "Are you really just asking or provoking me to go overboard?"
"What's the difference?" Jeonghan raised a brow, "It's the same thing."
"I'm warning you." Seungcheol pulled him closer, "You're not igniting a very great fire here."
"Oh my, how exciting!!" Jeonghan chuckled, "Where's your ego now? Heard me talking about another man and couldn't do shit?"
"You shouldn't have done that." Seungcheol grunted, "Never."
"Oh I know you can just grit your teeth and act like you can do this and that." Jeonghan's index finger pierced the older's chest, "When in reality, all of your pride is just a facade. Your wide eyes and clenched jaw won't change the fact that someone else had his hands on me."
"Enough." Seungcheol pinned the younger's wrists above his head, "It's enough."
Jeonghan chuckled in victory as he whispered, "C'mon, enough talking. Why don't you put your mouth to a better use?"
With a low growl, Seungcheol crashed his lips against Jeonghan's claiming them in a fierce, possessive kiss. His tongue demanded entry, seeking to taste, to consume, to claim.
Seungcheol's hands roamed possessively over Jeonghan's body, pulling him closer, his touch claiming and desperate. He poured all his pent-up desire into the kiss, his tongue tangling with Jeonghan's hungrily.
Seungcheol's hands slid under Jeonghan's thighs, effortlessly lifting him up against the wall. The younger man's legs automatically wrapped around his waist, pulling him even closer, their bodies pressed flushed against each other.
Jeonghan's hands twisted in Seungcheol's hair, pulling him closer. The younger's lips moved hungrily against the older's, his tongue exploring his mouth with a fierce, urgent passion. He could feel Seungcheol's body press against his, the hard muscles, the heat, the possessive touch, and it only fueled his desire.
They reluctantly broke the kiss, their breathes coming out in ragged gasps, their bodies still firmly pressed against each other. They stared into each other's eyes, their gazes filled with a mixture of desire and raw need.
Seungcheol's hands were still on Jeonghan's thighs, holding him up against the wall, keeping him in place.
Jeonghan grabbed the older's collars to pull him closer, "Say what you want right now, Seungcheol."
"I want you." Seungcheol breathed out, "I want you, all of you, right here, right now."
Jeonghan stood back on his own, clutching the older's shoulders, "How much?"
"More than you can imagine." Seungcheol replied, "I just don't want you, I need you, I'm craving for you. Only you."
Seungcheol allowed Jeonghan to push his coat off his shoulders. The heavy fabric slid to the ground with a soft rustle, revealing the older's muscular frame, his tight-fitting shirt clinging to his arms and chest.
"I'm not convinced." Jeonghan unfastened the older's tie, "Rephrase it, Seungcheol."
"I want you more than anything." Seungcheol whispered, "I'm desperate for you, craving for you like there's no tomorrow. I'll do anything and everything to keep you close to myself."
"I'm still not convinced." Jeonghan pulled him closer, "Show me Seungcheol, show me how much you regret pushing me away."
"I will." Seungcheol's hands gripped his waist, "I'll show you how much I regret it. Just, let me."
"I'm watching." Jeonghan nodded.
Seungcheol's lips found their way to Jeonghan's neck, trailing hot, open-mouthed kisses along the sensitive skin. His hands untucked the younger's shirt and slid in, roaming over his smooth, warm skin.
Seungcheol's lips moved to Jeonghan's jawline, pressing kisses along the sharp angle, his hands moving higher under the younger's shirt, exposing more of his skin to the air.
He spoke against the younger's skin, "I regret it, darling. I regret it so much. I should've never pushed you away."
"Right?" Jeonghan muttered.
"Right." Seungcheol's hand roamed over the younger's bare waist, his lips moving back to the younger's neck, "I was too stupid to do that."
"Hmm now you've completely realised it, right?" Jeonghan's hands caressed the older's back.
"Completely." Seungcheol's lips moved along the younger's collarbones, "You're the only one I need with all my might."
Jeonghan clutched on the older's shirt as he whimpered, "Yeah, I want to know that."
"You really want to know how much I yearn for you?" Seungcheol's lips found their way to the younger's ear.
"Exactly." Jeonghan retorted.
"Then I'll show you." Seungcheol whispered, "I'll show you my every need, my every desire. I'll make you realise just how badly I'm dying for you."
"Stop." Jeonghan breathed out.
Seungcheol's hands stilled instantly. He retracted slightly to look at the younger with a confused look.
"Do you think it's that easy?" Jeonghan fixed his attire and crossed his arms against his chest.
Seungcheol realised what the younger meant, "Right, it's not going to be easy."
"This is how bad you want me Seungcheol." Jeonghan grinned, "I'll keep reminding you how much you need me along with the fact that you don't have me because of your very own pride. I'll be with you only after ending every inch of your ego."
Seungcheol calmed his breathes, "I'll let it go, only for you. And I'll prove it."
"You already proved it, Seungcheol." Jeonghan stepped closer, "Now, all you've to do, is, regret, every single day."
Seungcheol nodded.
"If you would've genuinely meant your no, I would've accepted it willingly." Jeonghan stated, "But you said it out of your pride. You wanted it, at that moment too but you had to push me away because you couldn't accept falling for someone."
"You're right." Seungcheol laughed at his own misery.
"I am." Jeonghan pressed his palm against the older's cheek, "Brace yourself, darling. I can be as reckless as you are. It's a game we'll play together. Either both of us will win or both of will lose, there's no in between."
"I'll play your game." Seungcheol held a determined gazed, "No matter what it takes."
"All the best." Jeonghan patted his shoulders and left.
"Alright." Seungcheol chuckled to himself, "Let the game begin. I- no we will definitely win."
A/n : I think the notification for the previous chapter didn't work either.
