14 - Criminal Love
<Serenity HQ>
"All alone, Mr. Jeon?" Mingyu chuckled while leaning against the doorframe of the Web Designing cabin, "Did your friends ditch you because they couldn't handle your lectures on manners?"
"How may I help you, Mr. Kim?" Wonwoo ignored his comments.
Mingyu laughed mockingly and walked in to sit on the window's platform. He pushed the doors open to let some mild breeze flow in.
"Mr. Kim close the window." Wonwoo sighed irritatingly, "What do you even want?"
"Nothing. I came here to attend some lectures on etiquettes." Mingyu teased.
"Then you may leave because I'm really busy to deal with your nonsense." Wonwoo scoffed.
"Oh c'mon you're always busy." Mingyu grinned, "Don't you have time to loosen up a bit and teach your manners to everyone?"
"I've better things to do than wasting my time with your crap." Wonwoo scoffed heavily.
"Those better things may include getting some good breeze from this window." Mingyu taunted.
Wonwoo sighed as he stood up. He walked closer to the younger and pushed him back while holding his collars. Mingyu stumbled, his back hitting the ledge of the window, lurking on the edge.
He instinctively grabbed onto the frame, trying to maintain his balance, his heart racing from surprise and the realisation of how close he was to falling.
"This is what loosening up means to me." Wonwoo continued to hold him to the edge.
"WHAT THE FUCK MR. JEON, I'LL FALL DOWN!!" Mingyu yelled.
"Exactly." Wonwoo chuckled.
"Mr. Jeon- listen-" Mingyu tried to calm himself but that wasn't possible with him hanging on the edge of the window, "You're going to make me fall!!"
"And?" Wonwoo raised a brow, "Do I look like I care?"
"You can't be serious, this is not funny!" Mingyu squeezed his eyes shut for a moment, "I'm warning you, stop this!"
"Wow, the audacity?" Wonwoo chuckled mockingly, "You're warning me? For what?"
"What do you mean?!" Mingyu gulped, "You're literally holding me to the edge, I think a warning is more justified here."
"Not warning, Mr. Kim." Wonwoo pushed him more, "Manners will work better."
"WHAT THE FUCK?!!!" Mingyu yelled, "What do you even want?"
"Ask nicely and then I might spare you." Wonwoo nodded, "You wanted to take lectures on etiquettes from me, right?"
"Please." Mingyu immediately blurted out, "This is not funny anymore, seriously. I don't want to fall. Please, let go!"
"You can try harder." Wonwoo joked.
"What do you mean try harder?!" Mingyu yelled.
"It's the matter of your life, Mr. Kim, c'mon, try harder." Wonwoo chuckled.
"Please, Mr. Jeon!" Mingyu swallowed all of his pride at once, "I'm begging you, don't do this. I'm sorry for bumping into you that day and trying to tease you right now."
"Good job." Wonwoo nodded as he pulled Mingyu in.
Mingyu clutched his chest tightly and inhaled deep breathes. He drank some water as he looked at Wonwoo, "Are you crazy?!"
Wonwoo crossed his arms against his chest while glaring at the older.
Mingyu quickly shut the windows, "Who pulls this kind of stunt huh?!"
"It worked, didn't it?" Wonwoo rolled his eyes, "The Kim Mingyu with a huge ego was begging for mercy. That's what you get for being your usual, infuriating self."
"Wow! Seriously?" Mingyu gasped, "You almost threw me out of the window and now you're acting like it's no big deal?"
"Don't be so dramatic-"
"DRAMATIC?!" Mingyu's eyes widened, "I survived a near-death experience and that's what you call me? Dramatic?"
"I was just testing your limits." Wonwoo nodded, "And apparently, I found them."
"You've got a twisted way of testing someone." Mingyu retorted, "Next time, try something less life-threatening."
"Oh c'mon, you survived, didn't you? No harm done." Wonwoo shrugged.
"No harm- WHAT?" Mingyu was in disbelief, "I could have died? Do you understand that? D-I-E-D!!"
"But I don't see you dead?" Wonwoo raised a brow, "I don't understand what's the problem when you are all fine."
"You-" Mingyu scrowled, "This damn cabin is cursed. What kind of people live here? Change the name from Web Designing Team to a team of lunatics."
"Without you being here? No, Mr. Kim, that would be a crime." Wonwoo taunted.
"I-" Mingyu was intervened by a call arriving on his phone, "I'll see you later." He warned and left the cabin.
<Rose Quartz Mansion>
"Yeah, Hyeseok had started searching for his daughter's killer while the search for the person who bombed his cars were already going on." Jun explained.
"He just doesn't know that both were the same person." Dino sighed.
"But hyung-" Vernon looked at Seungcheol, "He might find out Mr. Yoon in no time."
"And when he'll know that Mr. Yoon is related to you, he'll jump into unnecessary conclusions." Seokmin nodded.
"That's not the matter." Seungcheol scoffed, "We've to simply destroy him, as soon as possible."
"But it won't be easy, he has his well-wishers too, who are our enemies." Hoshi stated, "If we kill him just like that, our enemies will get a chance to get us into trouble."
"Exactly." Mingyu nodded, "We've to trap him in a way that would safe-guard our business too."
"We've to ruin his business and turn his well-wishers on our side." Seungcheol suggested, "We've to go all in. His end is more important than anything else."
"But we had a plan hyung." Jun stated, "Why do you suddenly want to make everything quick?"
Seungcheol didn't reply as he continued to roll the paper weight on the table.
"For Jeonghan hyung, right?" Hoshi answered.
"When did he become your hyung?" Mingyu asked.
"When I dropped him home that day." Hoshi answered.
"So all of this is happening to keep Mr. Yoon away from Hyeseok?" Dino confirmed.
"Stop asking these unnecessary questions." Seungcheol massaged his forehead, "Just focus on executing the plan."
"Yeah yeah, why not?" Vernon rolled his eyes.
"What are you going to do with him though?" Seokmin asked.
"Release him." Seungcheol stood up, "Mingyu, Hoshi, drop him home tonight itself."
"Are you serious?" Jun gasped, "He knows everything about us."
"So? He isn't a threat, don't worry." Seungcheol assured.
"On one hand you say you don't even like him and on the other hand, you are so sure of him?" Mingyu raised a brow.
"Those are two different things, don't mix them." Seungcheol nodded.
"Oh really?" Hoshi mocked, "If it was someone else, you would have killed them already."
"Your gun didn't dare to roar in front of him, why so?" Vernon added.
"He's already annoying me a lot with this bullshit of love, now you all don't need to start as well." Seungcheol frowned.
"Alright." Jun scoffed, "You know yourself better, so, it's upto you."
Seungcheol didn't reply as he left the meeting room.
Seungcheol walked into the basement and untied Jeonghan without looking at him.
"What are you doing?" Jeonghan asked.
"Mingyu and Soonyoung will drop you home." Seungcheol stated.
"Home- what?" Jeonghan gasped.
"Yeah, are you planning to stay here forever?" Seungcheol stared at him.
"You're going to let me go without giving me an answer?" Jeonghan scrunched his brows.
"I've already answered you, Jeonghan, I don't love you. I never will." Seungcheol declared.
"Stop pretending-"
"I'm not pretending." Seungcheol intervened, "Why can't you get this inside your head?"
"And why can't you simply accept your feelings?!" Jeonghan was finally free from the ties, "Why?! Okay it might not be something as deep as love, but I refuse to believe that there's literally nothing."
"Believe whatever you want to." Seungcheol stood stern, "But don't expect anything from me. I annoyed you so much, brought you here and tied you up. I even threatened you so much, what's there to love me anymore?!"
"I just do? I can't define it, Seungcheol. Because of course, I'm not as practical as you are." Jeonghan retorted.
"Listen to me Jeonghan, you stalked me, sent me anonymous texts, killed two people, planted bombs and what not. And then you've the audacity to call it love?" Seungcheol crossed his arms, "Let me tell you, your love is pretty destructive."
"Yeah? Then tell me what you were going to do to that person who was following you? What were you planning against Hyeseok for bombing your port? And lastly, you knew exactly what was going to happen to Areum." Jeonghan sighed, "I didn't stalk you to get your information, I did it to force your memory to recall me."
"Very well explained, thank you so much." Seungcheol nodded, "But it wasn't convincing at all."
"What do you want me to do, Seungcheol?!! Why can't you put your pride aside for once?"
"And why can't you stop forcing your feelings on me?" Seungcheol frowned.
Jeonghan stared at the older in disbelief, "Then why are you letting me go? As far as I know, you would never spare someone who is so freaking wrong in your eyes."
"Because I can't bring myself to hate you, alright?" Seungcheol scoffed, "I can't raise up my hand to hurt you. That's it."
"That's it? Oh god!!" Jeonghan massaged his forehead, "That's what we count as feelings, you dumb fucking idiot."
"Shut it, already." Seungcheol stated, "Just go, no more discussions."
Jeonghan inhaled a deep breath, "So you're sure that you don't feel anything for me?"
"I don't." Seungcheol looked away.
"Don't say that to the wall, say that to me." Jeonghan sternly stated.
"I. Don't." Seungcheol's eyes were interlocked with the younger.
Jeonghan stepped closer to the older, "Say no one last time, and I'll leave your life as if I never happened."
Seungcheol averted his gaze as he looked at the door, "MINGYU! HOSHI!"
"Yeah, hyung?" Both of them stepped in.
"Take him home." Seungcheol ordered as he began to leave.
"Alright, Mr. Choi." Jeonghan chuckled bitterly, "I promise, you'll never see THIS Yoon Jeonghan again, even if you decide to swallow your ego and ask for it. I'll never be the same again for you."
Seungcheol turned around, "Better, isn't it?"
Mingyu and Hoshi looked at each other as the decided to leave the place.
"Yeah, much better." Jeonghan nodded, "And in return, don't you dare try to interfere in my life."
"Interfere in your life?" Seungcheol chuckled, "You've been nothing but trouble in my life. Do you really think, I'll waste any more time on you?"
"Yeah, why would you?" Jeonghan nodded, "I was the stupid one to fall for you when you were just high on alcohol. I was the dumb one to assume that kiss as something meaningful when all you wanted were some clues."
"Don't bring that up." Seungcheol's voice was low but stern, "You know it very well that it was mistake, a temporary lapse in judgement. You very pretty well involved in it."
"I was because I meant it." Jeonghan gulped, "I didn't do it for some secondary intention like you."
"Yeah right, it didn't mean anything to me." Seungcheol lied, of course, "Anything else?"
"Nothing, literally nothing." Jeonghan chuckled bitterly, "I don't even know why the fuck did I meet you in LA. And worst of all, decided to fall for a pathetic person like you.
"Pathetic, yeah." Seungcheol stepped closer to him, gently pushing him against the wall, "You said there's something between us, fine, what if there is?"
"Accept it!" Jeonghan's heartbeat raced at the proximity.
"And, what if I don't?" Seungcheol looked at the younger intently. Jeonghan didn't reply as Seungcheol inched closer, his lips ghosting over the younger's, "Tell me, What if I do not accept it? What then?"
"Then, what's there to say?" Jeonghan whispered, "I'll leave, just like that."
"Oh, will you?" Seungcheol chuckled bitterly, "Then, I'm not accepting it. There, problem solved."
"Thanks, I guess?" Jeonghan mumbled, "You're already too good at forgetting things, I'll try as well."
"Really?" Seungcheol leaned forward until their noses touched, "Will you? Promise?"
"Seungcheol-" Jeonghan clutched the older's shirt, "Why are you doing this? Why are you pushing me away and not letting me go either? Don't play with me."
"Oh, I'm not playing with you." Seungcheol's hand gripped the younger's waist, "Or, am I?"
"Then what do you even want?" Jeonghan looked into his eyes, "You aren't accepting your feelings and at the same time not letting me go, why?"
"Selfishness." Seungcheol whispered, "It's called selfishness."
"And?" Jeonghan's breath quickened as he felt Seungcheol's lips too close to himself, "Is it something you should boast about?"
"Not really." Seungcheol's grip on his waist tightened, "But, who cares? Do you?"
Jeonghan stayed silent. Was wording out a 'no' that hard? Was getting into more trouble, worth it? Was it?
"Does that matter, Jeonghan?" Seungcheol leaned in, to nibble on the younger's earlobe, "If it's too bothersome, then say no? Ask me to stop, do it."
Seungcheol's hand traced the younger's arm, "I'm such a selfish bastard, as you said, right?"
"Why are you running away from commitments?" Jeonghan's face was stern.
Seungcheol felt speechless for a moment, his grip on the younger turning possessive, "Stop asking stupid questions."
"You want me without any commitments, right?" Jeonghan clutched the older's collars, pulling him closer, "Do it. I won't deny. I dare you."
"Don't say anything that you don't actually mean." Seungcheol warned.
"I mean it." Jeonghan whispered, "If you really don't feel anything for me then why are you hesitating? Ruin me Seungcheol, just do it."
Seungcheol could swear on anything and everything that he had never met someone like Jeonghan in his entire life. Why was he like that?
"I annoyed you so much, why don't you take your revenge?" Jeonghan added.
"Stop that."
"If you'll leave me just like that, it will give me a wrong impression, Seungcheol." Jeonghan continued to hit the older's sensitive nerves, "I'll start thinking that you actually care."
Seungcheol slammed his hand against the wall, beside Jeonghan's face, "I said stop it."
"Can't dare to hurt me?" Jeonghan's fingers traced the older's jawline, "Why?"
"Oh my goodness!! Why are you so stubborn?!" Seungcheol retracted himself with a sigh.
"Don't worry. You're acting up because you think I'm not capable to detach myself from you." Jeonghan slowly walked towards him, "Let's see how much you'll be able to act up when you watch me not sparing a single glance at you."
"Don't be too confident on yourself." Seungcheol retorted.
"All the best." Jeonghan muttered as he left, slamming the door shut.
Seungcheol loosened himself as soon as the younger left. He knew he did feel something for Jeonghan, there was no denial in it.
But it wasn't that simple, at least not for him.
Jeonghan was absolutely a genius in inviting trouble for himself. And being Seungcheol's love interest just meant more trouble, especially when Hyeseok was going crazy to hunt down his daughter's culprit.
Seungcheol's only focus was to swipe Hyeseok off in every possible manner. He had to ruin his business and then his life.
Only after that he could bring himself to think about Jeonghan. And now he also knew that he was never getting him back, so there wasn't any chance.
Of course, Jeonghan wasn't supposed to wait for him like that and Seungcheol wasn't expecting anything like that either.
Seungcheol shrugged the heavy feeling in his heart and decided to distract his mind and pay attention to the task in hand - Demolish Min Hyeseok before he reaches Jeonghan.
And along with that, he braced himself to face whatever Jeonghan was going to have for him, from tomorrow.
