1 - Fear
•Serenity HQ, Seoul, SK•
"I hope we'll together work hard for this company." Seungcheol ended his speech as he had just taken charge as the CEO of the Seoul Branch of Serenity Hyperbotics.
Along with him, Moon Junhui, Kwon Soonyoung, Lee Seokmin, Kim Mingyu, Chwe Hansol and Lee Chan had also introduced themselves and had taken their respective charges, ending the era of the previous administrative team on a good note.
After the meeting ended, a meeting with HODs of several major branches of the company was announced.
When the time had arrived, Seungcheol was walking through the hallways with Mingyu and Hoshi, discussing something.
As soon as they were going to step into the cabin, they witnessed another person rushing into the meeting room.
"I think you're late, Mr.-" Seungcheol looked at his id card, "Mr. Yoon Jeonghan."
Jeonghan quickly moved inside the meeting room, "Still earlier than you, sir." He bowed and walked into the hall.
Seungcheol scrunched his brows. Someone apart from his friends talking back to him like this was very rare and he was definitely not very fond of it. He shrugged as he stepped into the hall.
Jeonghan went to take a seat beside Joshua who was worriedly waiting for him, "Where were you?"
"Sorry." Jeonghan mumbled, "I got in a little trouble."
"More like you caused one. Are you okay-" Joshua was intervened by everyone standing up as the CEO and his two secretaries stepped into the meeting room.
It was a small, introductory meeting which ended within an hour after which everyone went to their respective works.
Jeonghan and Joshua had to part ways too as they were the HODs of different teams. Jeonghan went into the cabin of the Web Designing Team.
"Wow you're back sooner than we expected." Woozi acknowledged.
"Yeah there was nothing special about it." Jeonghan took his seat.
"How did it go?" Wonwoo asked.
"Good enough." Jeonghan nodded.
"So the administration of our company has changed now." Woozi stated.
"Prettymuch." Jeonghan agreed, "But it won't stop us from our small get together tonight, right."
"Of course." Wonwoo chuckled, "Who says no to food?"
"Hyung, you've to get this file signed by Mr. Choi." Woozi handed him.
"Oh right." Jeonghan stood up, "I'll be back in a while."
Jeonghan made his way to the CEO's cabin as he got the permission to get in. He greeted the older after which he put forward the file, "Mr. Choi, this file has to be signed by you to get the approval of beginning this project."
Seungcheol took the file and looked through it.
Soon enough, he looked at the younger, his eyes squinting to recall their previous encounter.
"Mr. Yoon...?"
"Jeonghan."
"Yeah, Mr. Yoon Jeonghan, so you're the HOD of the web designing team, right?"
"Yes."
"May I know the reason of you getting late to the meeting in the morning?" Seungcheol stared at him.
"I wasn't late?"
"I don't appreciate nonchalant behavior, Mr. Yoon." Seungcheol chuckled as he focused back on the file.
"Mr. Choi, I was seriously on time. I was in the meeting room before you, nothing else matters." Jeonghan tried to be as polite as he could.
"Hmm get me a cup of black coffee without sugar." Seungcheol ordered without looking up.
"Excuse me?" Jeonghan frowned.
"Do you have a hearing problem, Mr. Yoon?"
"No? But I'm not paid to bring you coffee, that's not my job." Jeonghan retorted.
"So what? I'm the one who will pass your paycheck so you better get to work." Seungcheol nodded.
"Sure." Jeonghan bowed as he left.
"First day at office and I already have disobedient employees." Seungcheol sighed.
Soon enough, Jeonghan came back with a cup of coffee in his hands, his face plastered with a small grin.
And Seungcheol was definitely not aware of that menacing smile.
"The file is signed." Seungcheol pushed forward the folder, "I want the project to start as soon as possible."
"Definitely." Jeonghan nodded.
Seungcheol picked up the cup to take the first sip of the first coffee of his day. But as soon as the unknown flavor hit his tongue, he spat everything out.
"What the hell is this?!" Seungcheol wiped his mouth with tissues and drank some water.
"I told you sir, it's not my job. I was neither interviewed nor trained for this so it's pretty obvious that I won't know." Jeonghan picked up the file, "Have a nice day ahead." He bowed and left.
Mingyu came into the cabin following the incident.
"Who the fuck is he?" Seungcheol pointed at the door from where Jeonghan had just left.
"He?" Mingyu was confused, "Isn't he the HOD of the web designing team?"
"I know that but his audacity?" Seungcheol sighed, "First he talked back to me before the meeting and now gave me this crap."
Mingyu looked at the coffee on the table and it's stain on a side of the floor.
"Ask someone to clean this and bring me a cup of coffee." Seungcheol massaged his forehead, "And about this Yoon Jeonghan. Drown him with work load. I should see him over working for the rest of the week. Ruin his work-life balance. His eyes should be begging for rest for sure."
"Sure hyung, don't worry about that." Mingyu assured.
"Bitch." Jeonghan slammed the file on his desk as his team members visibly flinched.
"What happened hyung?" Wonwoo asked.
"Who the hell does he think he is huh?" Jeonghan pointed at nowhere, "He's the boss so what?! I'm not his slave to bring him coffee and shit."
"Hyung? What's wrong?" Woozi looked up, "Are you talking about Mr. Choi?"
"Who else?" Jeonghan sat down, "I'm literally the HOD? We all work hard for the company and he just hired it out of nowhere. Of course he won't know the value of these efforts. He asked me to bring coffee for him while signing the file."
"And then? Did you bring him coffee?" Wonwoo questioned.
"Yes." Jeonghan grinned, "But it wasn't worth drinking so yeah, he got his lesson."
"You did great but I don't think it's a good idea to irk the boss."
Everyone turned around to witness Joshua standing at the door.
"And then you're even calling him out without batting an eye on the surroundings." Joshua stepped in.
"Pardon?" Jeonghan frowned.
"I was at the door for the whole time and honestly it could've been anyone, even Mr. Choi himself." Joshua reasoned, "You could've gotten into trouble."
"Fuck it." Jeonghan scoffed.
"Why do I think you're already in trouble though?" Woozi looked at the older.
"True!" Wonwoo remarked, "We don't know much about him but all I've heard is that he and his friends are ruthless. They hold so much pride for no reason and I don't think he's letting this pass."
It was when a knock was heard at the door, "Mr. Yoon?"
"Come in." Jeonghan answered.
"This is for you." The staff handed him an official letter, "A soft copy has been mailed to you. Have a nice day." She greeted everyone and left.
Jeonghan opened the letter and read it, "Wow is he really crazy or what?!"
"What happened?" Joshua asked.
"I'm so done with him already." Jeonghan collapsed on his seat.
"That's too much work for just a week." Joshua mumbled while reading the letter, "And why does it have to be done by Mr. Yoon Jeonghan specially?"
"Told you, he'll not let it slide and it's pretty obvious." Wonwoo nodded.
"He's intentionally doing this to make hyung suffer." Woozi added.
"You should go and talk to him." Joshua suggested, "CALMLY."
"Yeah this is a team work and would be much easier if we help you." Wonwoo agreed, "Only if you don't upset him again."
"Y'all are making it look like it's my fault." Jeonghan rolled his eyes.
"We aren't. But if controlling your temper gives you more time to sleep and chill then why not?" Woozi shrugged.
"Jeonghan, don't escalate this matter." Joshua insisted, "Just go and end it here itself. Don't invite unnecessary trouble for yourself."
"Fine." Jeonghan stood up, "I'll go."
"All the best hyung!"
Jeonghan walked out of the cabin with the letter in his hand. He inhaled several deep breaths to keep his calm when on the inside he was just fuming with anger.
He reached the CEO's cabin as the guards went to inform him about the HOD's visit. He got the permission to step in as he bowed slightly.
"Mr. Choi, please spare me a moment." Jeonghan muttered.
Seungcheol chuckled to himself. He knew that this sudden change of attitude was nothing but the aftermath of issuing that notice.
"Yes, Mr. Yoon, how may I help you?"
"Mr. Choi, I think there's an error in this notice." Jeonghan placed it on the table, "This work is supposed to be done by the entire team."
"But I want it to be done by the HOD himself?" Seungcheol stated.
"But it's always done by the team." Jeonghan reasoned, "It helps us to get numerous point of viwes and opinions. Different mindsets help to enhance the diversity of the project and it always works in favour of the company. That's my own experience, I've been here for more than five years."
"Hmm, great point, I must say." Seungcheol took the letter and tore it, "Fine, it will be done by the team."
"Thank you Mr. Choi." Jeonghan chuckled as he began to leave.
"Did I dismiss you yet?" Seungcheol's husky voice echoed.
Jeonghan turned around, "Pardon?"
"I've another work for you Mr. Yoon." Seungcheol scoffed, "You know me and my trusted people have just taken charge of this branch of the company. We're still getting used to this place. So, I want you to explain everything about this company, the employees, etc. I've heard you're also dealing with the stocks department of Serenity which is a cherry on cake, I also want the reports of the market growth of the company to be included in the presentation."
"Uh- okay." Jeonghan nodded.
"This Sunday."
"WHAT?!" Jeonghan gasped. Sunday was coming in just three days and it's supposed to be a day off.
"Yeah, we've lot of work on the working days and I can't postpone this for too long. So, Sunday is done." Seungcheol declared.
"But-"
"No ifs and buts Mr. Yoon." Seungcheol intervened, "Dismiss."
Jeonghan clenched his first, taming his urge to punch the older across his face, "All this for just a bad coffee?"
"All this because you're my employee." Seungcheol assertively stated, "And you need to learn some discipline. Don't forget Mr. Yoon, a simple notice by me brought you on line. I can do much more than that if you don't BEHAVE."
Jeonghan stared at him blankly.
"Don't gawk at me, dismiss." Seungcheol focused back on his work.
Jeonghan sighed as he left, intentionally slamming the door loudly.
"MR. YOON." Seungcheol immediately called him back.
Jeonghan walked back in, "What?"
"That's not how you close the door." Seungcheol glared at him, "I'm warning you for one last time. Don't be stupid to invite trouble for yourself. Close the door nicely and leave."
Jeonghan couldn't word out how annoyed he was. He closed the door appropriately and left the cabin.
"Damn this man-" Seungcheol scoffed massaging his forehead, "This attitude huh?"
"Why are you talking to yourself?" Hoshi stepped into the cabin and took a seat in front of the older.
"Nothing." Seungcheol grunted.
"Say."
"This person- Yoon Jeonghan." Seungcheol sighed, "He is literally getting on me nerves since morning."
"Ohh him?" Hoshi chuckled, "He's gorgeous though, you can try to discipline him in a nice way, you know?"
"Hoshi?" Seungcheol raised a brow, well aware of his playful nature.
"Joking!" Hoshi laughed, "And we're in office, it's Soonyoung."
"Yeah whatever." Seungcheol rolled his eyes.
"Leave him hyung, we've literally much bigger stuff to deal with." Hoshi exclaimed, "And here you are, focusing on a mere employee."
"You're right." Seungcheol nodded, "Let him be, I can handle him whenever I want."
"Exactly, he's not a big deal." Hoshi nodded.
"Anyways, did you check for any possible threats or any suspicious personality here?" Seungcheol asked.
"No." Hoshi nodded, "This place is so boring I swear. Didn't find a single interesting person to either torture or simply play with."
"Well, your frustration is a relief for me." Seungcheol chuckled.
"I'm so jealous of you." Hoshi scoffed, "You got a pretty bickering partner."
"Shut up, Soonyoung." Seungcheol frowned.
"Anyways, I'll get going." Hoshi stood up, "Let's survive together."
"For real."
A/n : Guys- keep your swearing preserved for later-
