A LOUD series of knocks tore Sunny away from her dream of trees and Namjoon's warm hands. The light outside spilled through her curtains, raining down on her face just enough for the girl to groan aloud. Before she could roll over and bury her face back into her pillow, the knocking began again. Whoever was outside was persistent. She rolled off of her bed and searched for a pair of pants to pull up her naked bottom half. "Coming!" she shouted, her words fading as they were drowned out by a large and tired yawn. But her words didn't cease the action. She pulled a pair of sweatpants onto her legs and stomped through the short hallway, the knocks on the door rattling the kitchen cabinets. "I'm coming!" she finally snapped, rubbing the sleep from her tired eyes.
She unlocked her door and swung it open, revealing a fresh face she hadn't seen in a while. Wen Junhui, with his hair pulled back underneath a hat, smiled down at an underdressed Park Chinsun. She staggered on her feet, quickly moving the door halfway closed, hiding behind it. "Junhui," she breathed out with a nervous laugh. Her curly hair stood on ends, sticking out in every which direction. He leaned against her doorframe with a smirk. "Good morning, beautiful," he greeted her, igniting a flame beneath her skin. Her cheeks turned a rosy shade. "Wh–What are you doing here?" she questioned him. He peered over her head into the empty apartment. "I wanted to take you out for breakfast," he answered, his eyes now resting on her face. "Wh–Why?"
His eyebrows puckered into a frown and he shifted back onto the flats of his feet. "I wanted to see you again... Are you okay?" The color on her cheeks seemed to grow as he leaned forward. He locked their eyes. "I'm fine! I just, you took my by surprise." She nervously tucked her wild hair behind her ears before releasing a sigh. "I need to get dressed. Come in." She opened the door wider for Junhui to step into the room through the front door. She pushed the door closed behind him and quickly wrapped her arms around her. "I won't be long." She moved to race back to her room before turning back toward the male. "Where are we going?" He hummed as he picked at the plant sitting on her counter. "Just to eat at the café," he replied without looking over at her. That was all she needed. She escaped back to her room and picked out an outfit.
She slipped on a pair of high waisted jeans and a big, white t shirt that hung down to the middle of her thigh. She tucked the front of her shirt in and accessorized with a jean jacket she had stolen from Namjoon. Wow, most of my clothes are from the guys, she thought to herself as a smile crossed over her pretty features. She ran a brush through her tangled curls before settling on tying her hair back into a loose ponytail. She slipped on her white Vans and left the safety of her bedroom. Junhui was still standing by the counter, his fingers jabbing at his phone screen. "I'm ready," she voiced, her smile wide. His eyes traveled up the length of her legs, taking in each rip in the dark blue fabric, his eyes ascending until he stopped on her face. She smiled wider once their eyes met. "You look amazing," he told her, biting down on his bottom lip. She hid her cheeks behind her hands as she smiled, quietly thanking him for the compliment.
"I hope you're hungry," he hummed, pocketing his phone. She raised her eyebrows questioningly. "Because I'm starving." He laughed at her expression. She crossed the room to open the door when he stopped her suddenly. His hand engulfed hers. It didn't feel the same way it did when Namjoon held her hand. She held her breath as he tugged her toward the door. "I hope you don't mind." She quickly shook her head, sliding her fingers between his to intertwine their hands. He smiled at her action. He opened her front door and exited first, pausing to let her lock the door. "I actually am pretty hungry," she voiced as they bound down the front steps to her apartment. Junhui grinned to himself. "Well, order whatever you want. I'm paying." She nudged him with a giggle.
He lead her to his car. She remembered it upon spotting it. She had sat in the passenger seat before, begging her bladder and stomach both not to unload in the floorboards. She nervously inched toward the vehicle. Junhui opened the door for her, allowing her to climb in and settle in the seat before closing it behind her. "Okay, Sunny. He's just a boy," she whispered to herself, blowing air out through her pursed lips. Junhui crossed the front of his car to get to the driver's side. Sunny buckled the seatbelt over her waist. His car wasn't the cleanest. He had mail stranded in the passenger side floorboard. The dash was dusty, but it wasn't disgusting. His car could be filled with old candy wrappers and drinks, or rotten food. She slid her feet back, scared to mark a single piece of mail.
He pulled onto the street and drove the short distance to the café. People stood outside. A woman was walking her dogs. Three girls were taking pictures in front of the sign. Sunny smiled to herself when she noticed an older couple leaving the cool building, their arms looped with each other's. Junhui cut off the car once he had parked, making Sunny tear her eyes from the couple. "I love this place!" she cheered. Her and Jungkook went there often, always buying way more than either of them could eat. She also remembered the day Jin had caught the two sneaking more cakes into Sunny's bag to take home without the others seeing. He had never laughed so hard in his life when she discovered the heap of icing staining the inside of her bag. She unbuckled herself and pushed open the passenger door to get out.
She resembled a child walking right into the candy store their parents had always passed by, not once allowing them to go in and taste the treasures inside. She bounced on her heels as she waited for Junhui to exit the car. She breathed in the cool air. The smell of sweets and coffee wafted through the breeze, exiting the front door every time someone came in or left. Junhui chuckled at her excitement and quickly intertwined his fingers with hers. "I used to come here a lot when I was training," he explained. She noticed the way he smiled when he talked about training. She understood that happiness. She understood the pride that he felt about making it. "So, tell me." She hummed for him to continue. "How's it going? With the group, I mean."
She released a dreamy sigh once he asked his question. She squeezed his hand as she skipped toward the café. "Oh, it's amazing! The girls are so sweet. It already feels like we're best friends, you know?" He ruffled his hair as a chuckle slipped past his lips. "I do know. It's nice being in a group. Its like a second family." She pulled open the front door and giggled at the feeling of the cool air hitting her skin. He followed her small frame into the building and toward the counter. She stood on her tip toes, her palms flat against the counter as her eyes squinted in order to read the small words on the menu. Junhui moved behind her, letting his hand rest on her hip. "Could I get a Matcha milk tea?" she asked sweetly, earning a nod in response. "With a small slice of cake?" — "Sure," their waiter replied, taking down her order.
"One Americano and a breakfast plate," Junhui recited his order with a smug grin. His thumb looped into one of her belt loops and he gently pulled her body closer into his. She fought the blush from her face, allowing him to hold onto her. "Alright. I'll bring your order to your table." Sunny smiled and pushed off of the counter. She allowed Junhui to lead her to an empty table, taking the seat right across from him. "What's your favorite part about being an idol so far?" She shushed him, her eyes scanning the café for any nosey patrons. He raised his eyebrows in questioning as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Our members actually haven't been announced yet and we want it to stay that way," she explained with a nervous smile. "But why? I mean, it doesn't make sense to me."
"My brother. He's super overprotective and if he found out that I had started training, he'd kill me." Junhui frowned. "He's an idol. Why can't you be one?" Sunny lazily shrugged her shoulders. She never really questioned Jimin's distaste of her being an idol. She always just pegged it as him being concerned for her. "You should be able to do what you want to do without him hovering over you all of the time, you know?" Sunny noticed the slight aggression in Junhui's tone. He looked upset, even a little angry. "Yeah.. Sometimes it can be a little suffocating. I won't lie." Before Junhui could reply, their food and drinks were being set before them. Both thanked the waiter and began eating. Junhui placed some of his eggs onto Sunny's place after catching her eyeing the food.
"You should eat well. You don't want to faint," he chuckled. She smiled appreciatively and began eating. Just as the silence became comfortable, Sunny felt her phone buzz within her jacket pocket. She pulled the device out, smiling at the contact.

"Who are you texting?" Junhui asked through the eggs in his mouth. Sunny quickly locked her phone, the smile she hadn't realized she sported fading from her face. "Just Namjoon. Sorry." She tucked her hair behind her ears and picked her phone back up. The cake melted against her tastebuds, and the milk tea made her belly smile happily. The two finished eating, Sunny checking through her messages with Namjoon discreetly. When they were finished, the duo paid and left the café, joining the warm air once again. She rolled up the sleeves of her jacket. "I can hold your jacket for you," Junhui offered, eyeing the small girl. With a beaming smile, she pulled the outer layer off and handed it to Junhui, forgetting that her phone sat it in its pockets. "Thank you."
The two walked back toward Junhui's car in silence, the birds chirping overhead filling the comfortable atmosphere. "I don't want to part ways just yet," Junhui spoke up, pulling Sunny's hand. She stopped and turned to look at the male who gripped her hand within his. "I'm enjoying my time with you, Chinsun, and... I don't want it to end." A dark red shade painted her cheeks as her lips pulled upward into a shy smile. "Do you want to spend the day with me? As a date?" — "A–A date?" she repeated in surprise. He looked down at their conjoined hands shyly. "If not, that's okay..." She drew in a shaky breath. What could a date hurt?, she thought to herself. "Okay," she said as she exhaled. "Its a date."
Little did she know that Namjoon had gotten dressed and waited for her arrival, sitting in the dorm living room alone.
