Jealousy & Self Worth

"A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot."

-Proverbs 14: 30.

Lately, I've been sort of... jealous.

Just recently, my mom and a guy from our church have officially become a "thing" and are now dating. My little brother has a girlfriend. My great-grandmother has a boyfriend. Just *grrr*.

Sometimes, for us single ladies, when everyone else is paired off (like socks) it feels like a.) #foreveralone , b.) we're going to have to get a bunch of cats, and c.) just be kind of miserable about it. Thoughts like, "Why don't guys take interest in me?" and "Is there something wrong with me?" run through our heads and we begin to feel like we aren't good enough for anyone.

This can leave us feeling worthless. But remember, YOUR WORTH IS IN GOD NOT IN GUYS.

" But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God."

-Ephesians 2: 4-9

"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. "

-Matthew 6: 25- 34

" I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

-Galatians 2: 20
