As Patrick and I reach the hospital, he stops outside the door. "Fuck, Pete, I'm so nervous."
"You're going to be fine. He'll love you." I assure him. He looks at me and nods.
"You really think so?" He asks. I smile at him.
"I know so." I grab his wrist and pull him with me to Bronx's room. Dallon and Declan are sitting there playing iSpy with him. "Hey, Bronx, Declan. Patrick, this is Dallon. He saved Bronx's life."
Patrick smiles and approaches the guy, shaking his hand. "I really appreciate it, man."
"Any time." Dallon says. Patrick turns back to Bronx, and Bronx is smiling at him.
"Hey, kiddo, how're you feeling?" He asks. Bronx smiles wider, if it's possible when Patrick sets a hand on his forehead. "You feel kind of warm." He moves the hair out of Bronx's face.
"I feel fine, uh, umm-" Bronx says, scratching the back of his head.
"You don't have to call me anything you aren't comfortable with." Patrick says. I smile at that, and Bronx does too.
"Is it okay if I call you Pops? Because it would be a little awkward if I called you daddy, and I already call Pete dad, so.." Bronx trails off. Patrick shrugs.
"I'm totally fine with that." Patrick says. Declan is smiling at them the whole time, and Dallon looks impressed with Patrick.
"So, dads, when can I go home?" Bronx asks. I look to Patrick.
"Uh, you're feeling better. You've maintained a stable blood pressure for longer than an hour. If I talk to one of the doctors, I can probably get you out of here in an hour and a half." He says. Bronx smiles.
"The perks of having a doctor as a dad." He says. I roll my eyes at the two of them, and Patrick smiles at me. He walks out of the room.
"Guys, can Bronx and I have a moment alone?" I ask. Declan and Dallon nod, walking out of the room together. "So you like him?"
"Of course I do." Bronx says, rolling his eyes at me. "He's fucking fantastic." I listen at his tone to try and find some form of sarcasm, but I find none.
"So you aren't even the slightest bit weirded out that you find your dad attractive?" I ask Bronx. He shudders in response.
"I don't really find him as attractive as I did. It's just weird having a hot dad when all I've been used to is you." Bronx says. I gasp and hit his shoulder. "I'm joking, Dad!" He laughs.
"Damn right you're joking. Pete's hot as fuck." Patrick says as he comes back in. "Doc wants to keep you overnight, but he said that if Pete would allow me to stay the night with you two, you can go home."
Bronx looks at me, hopeful. Let my son stay in a hospital, which he's been afraid of since he broke his arm at age ten, or let Patrick Stump, the man that impregnated me, stay at my house.
"Fine, fine, you can stay one night." I say. Bronx smiles and cheers, pulling me into a hug that I do not return. I roll my eyes as he and Patrick high five.
--
"How much fucking stuff do you need from your house?" I groan as I carry out a huge suitcase.
"Quit your whining, Pete, that's just my hair products!" Patrick shouts back. The suitcase he comes out with, rolling, is twice the size of the one I'm holding. Declan laughs from his seat next to Bronx in the back.
"Patrick's a pretty boy, Pete." Declan says, laughing. He lies his head against the window, scooting away from Bronx.
Apparently even though Declan is adopted, Bronx thinks it would be too weird to date him because they are basically brothers. Declan was devastated when Bronx first explained that, but he soon realised that he and Bronx are only sixteen, so there are plenty of fish in the sea for him.
The drive to my house takes about twenty minutes. Tonight is Thursday, fuck, meeting day. I could cancel. Or I could go.
"We're supposed to have a meeting tonight." I announce to the car. Declan looks confused, and Patrick's eyebrows raise.
"You're talking about with the gang's dads?" Declan asks. "Everyone but Patrick is in it."
"Yeah, that's the one. I can text Joe and cancel." I suggest. Patrick shakes his head immediately.
"No need for that. I'll take care of Bronx and Dec." Patrick says. I shake my head automatically.
"No way. Hell no. You guys can come with. Joe won't mind." I say, but Joe actually might mind. I don't know, I haven't spoken to him since Monday.
I back back out of the driveway and drive five minutes down the block to Joe's house. I avoid the red light Andy had his wreck at by going through neighbourhoods.
When we arrive, Declan helps Bronx out of the car, and the two go inside and up to Ruby's room where I assume the rest of the children are. Patrick and I walk in slowly after them.
I see Joe, Andy, Gerard, a short guy with black hair, Brendon, Dallon, and Ray by himself. My eyes widen.
"A lot has changed since our last meeting, huh?" I ask. Everyone seems to find that funny. "Alright, spill the beans." I say, gesturing to Brendon and Dallon.
Brendon smiles lovingly at Dallon. "He saved my life." My eyes widen.
"It's my job, Pete. I like to help people. Brendon here was almost run over by a car." Dallon explains.
"And Dallon was there to pull me out of the way." Brendon adds. I turn to Gerard and the short guy next.
"Oreo, right?" I ask. Patrick starts cracking up from behind me, almost falling to the ground. The guy doesn't even flinch.
"It's Iero. Frank Iero." He corrects, a nasty look on his pretty face.
"Frank and I met because of Ray. He set us up on a blind date. It totally worked." Gerard says coolly. I nod.
"What about you two? What's the story?" Ray asks from his seat in the recliner. I laugh.
"Well, you see.."
