+ Chapter 10. This gotta be a big joke!
I was trying not be suspicious. There's just a lot going on right now and I don't want any other Autobot to figure out what I had done. All the things I had to take care of kept me awake last night. I feel like I am putting too much effort in the girl with as result, that I am stuck with her.
I parked in the hanger and rushed towards the meeting room. 'You're late.' I ignored Prowl and sat down. True, I was late but that was because of Skyla this morning. 'You wanna explain yourself?'
'Stuck in traffic,' I muttered and waved it off. The meeting started but all I could think about was Skyla. It's not I don't trust her in my house, but I don't trust Cooper. Hopefully she stays inside and doesn't go out for a walk or whatever. 'Sunstreaker? We are talking to you.' I glanced at Prowl. 'You heard what we said?' I looked around the table. 'Half.'
'Seriously, what is wrong with you,' Prowl scowled. 'I've to go.' I got up. 'What on earth are you talking about?' Optimus got up as well. 'There's something I need to take care of.' I walked over to the door. 'We have a mission for you, Sunstreaker. You can't just leave.' I turned. 'Yes, I can. I warned you before. You're on the side of the humans. You listen more to than to me so... maybe ask Lennox how he feels about me going on a mission. If he's comfortable, if he has enough trust,' I spat. 'Sunstreaker, that's not true. I do trust you,' Lennox said as he got up. 'Yeah, right... even the fallen would join the Autobots sooner than you will every trust me.' I snorted and shook my head.
'I don't have any respect for you, or for this pathetic race. Neither do you have any respect for me... so.' I trailed off. 'Sunstreaker, you're our only front liner right now. We need you,' Optimus said. 'Need me? Really? It's a big joke. You've chosen the humans above me so don't start crying now. I have better things to do.' I left and slammed the door closed. I haven't lied a word about what I just said. It wasn't a excuse to leave. It was the truth. Optimus trusts the humans and not me for obvious reasons.
On my way home, I made a quick stop at the mall to pick something up for Skyla. I can't keep doing this. When I got home, I figured out I had been worrying about nothing. She was watching TV. She muted the TV and turned. 'You are so early,' She gestured and got up. 'I know... I left early.' She raised a brow. 'I cleaned the kitchen, like you requested,' she signed. 'You've done that in a record time,' I muttered as I peeked into the kitchen but I can't complain. It smelled good and everything was spotless. She shrugged and sat back down on the couch.
((Skyla's P.O.V))
I unmuted the TV. Sunstreaker started to mind his own business anyway. After an hour, Sunstreaker called my name. 'Come here.' He gestured me to sit next to him. I frowned while I slid in the chair beside him. 'I want you to keep this with you...' he handed me an IPhone. 'It's yours, picked it up when I came back from work. I just don't trust Cooper. You don't talk, but I suggest that if you're in trouble, you just call me, alright?'
I looked at the IPhone before gesturing. 'This is too expensive. He snorted and rolled his icy blue eyes. 'It doesn't matter, alright? I've to spoil my money on something and with taking you in, I am getting myself in a lot of trouble. Not just at work but also here because of Cooper. I can't be in two places. You just take this, keep this with you and use when you need it.' I gave a small nod. 'You haven't told anyone about me, isn't it?'
He grunted. 'Its uh... complicated. You're not really who you think I am. Everything is just making this task really difficult. Soon or later, I can't avoid being sent in a mission and some missions take months. If I leave for months... I can't protect you... than you're on your own and my team. I am really popular, because of my disorders and entire personality, so... it's just really complicated.' I looked at the phone in my hand again. 'The most important thing is... we need to deal with Cooper.'
'Why haven't you killed him? You're capable of doing it.'
'I know but there's something that doesn't sit right with me and I can't figure out what it is. Normally I just kill people, if not for joy then for a purpose. This time seems different for some odd reason. Does it make sense...? Sort of?'
I shrugged. 'Cooper is a dangerous and powerful man,' I signed. 'When I looked at him—' he cut himself off. 'Never mind, perhaps he just reminds me too much of my father.'
I raised a brow while he got up. 'You've mentioned that before. Are you afraid of him?' I signed. He snorted and rolled his eyes. 'No, I am not afraid. It just makes me hate him even more,' he replied arrogantly before sitting down on the couch and switched the channel to the football game. He's done talking. I got up and placed some soda and popcorn in the coffee table. 'Thank you.'
'Thank you.' I gestured. He waved his hand and concentrated back on the game. 'We are going to change plans...' I turned around. 'This afternoon, we are not going to the mall... there's something else I'd like to show you. Perhaps you understand me a little better after that,' he said without looking. Sunstreaker sounded serious. He glanced at me and I gave a small nod. 'I think it's important for you to know the truth,' he added.
