Chapter 4: New Determination

Buster walked back to the Moon Theater, sad and wet. He went to the bathroom and used the blow dryer to dry himself, turning him into a puffball. He then walked through the happy crowd back to his office.

Nana then went down, looking for him.

"Mr. Moon?" she called.

She looked backstage and through the costumes before ending up in the office. She turned of the music he had on and opened the drawer of his desk to find him, moping.

"Oh for heavens sake," she said.

He sighed and told her, "What can I say, Nana? I'm a failure."

"Oh poppy cock," Nana remarked.

"I was reaching too high," Buster continued.

"Honestly. One negative comment and it's all 'Woe is me'," she said.

"Nana, come on. She said I'm not good enough. I mean, heck, I've just been told that my destiny, all my hopes and dreams, they all end right here," he explained.

"Well, what did you expect? That she would drop to her knees and declare you a genius? Roll out the red carpet for the great Buster Moon?" Nana questioned.

"She-She ran me off the road into a canal!" Buster objected.

"Well, you're still in one piece, aren't you?" she asked.

"Well, yeah. But--" he admitted.

"Well anyone who dares set out to follow their dreams is bound to face a lot worse than a dip in the canal," Nana pointed out, saw Hobbs at the door, then requested, "Oh Hobbs. I found him. Being the car around. There's a good chap."

"I-I just thought she'd see we deserved a shot," Buster sighed as Hobbs left.

"Never mind what this person you don't even know said. Do YOU think you're good enough?" she wondered.

"Of course," he answered.

"Then you must fight for what you believe in. Guts, stamina, faith, these are the things you need now. And without them, well maybe that scout was right. Maybe you're not good enough," Nana told him, heading out the door.

But she peeked back in to see the wheels turning in Buster's head, making her smile before officially leaving.

Buster couldn't sleep at all that night, so he got dressed and packed up the things he would need for the audition. As he left, he called Rosita and told her what was up.

"No. I know, Rosita. But trust me on this. It'll be totally worth it. Listen, I'm outside her place now, so can you call the others and have them meet up in half an hour?" Buster requested, she agreed, then he said before they hung up, "Great. Thank you."

Then Buster went in a club where Ash was playing at.
