Chapter 3: Not Good Enough?

The talent scout, Suki, made it to the lobby when Buster arrived to catch her.

"Uh, Suki! Suki Lang?" Buster called, getting her attention, then he continued as he went to her, "I'm Buster Moon. Hi. So glad you could make it. Uh, would you like some popcorn?"

"Oh no thanks. I'm not staying for the second half, so..." Suki trailed off.

"Oh. But we thought you were enjoying it. Not that we were watching you or anything," he said.

"It really is a cute little show," she told him, laughed, then added, "Just not what we're looking for."

"But-But wait. You gotta see the second act. I'm telling ya, it's a smash!" Buster assured.

"Okay, Mr. Moon. Can I be honest?" Suki asked.

"Of course," he answered.

"Are you sure? 'Cause folks say that when they don't really mean it," she wondered.

"No please. Please. Be as honest as you like," Buster urged.

"You're not good enough," Suki declared before approaching the exit.

"What?" Buster asked, following her.

"Taxi!" Suki called then remarked while taking the snack, "You know? Maybe I will take that popcorn."

Buster was too stunned at first to say anything.

"Look, you've got a nice little local theatre here and it's great for what it is, but trust me, you'd never make it in the big leagues. Bye now," Suki told him before getting in the taxi.

It drove off as Nana came up to him.

"Well? What did she say?" Nana asked.

Buster turned to her and said before running off, "I'll be right back!"

Then as the taxi continued driving, Buster rode on his bike after it.

"Nah. Mm-mm. A few laughs. A bunch of quirky ideas, but anyway, about Thursday," Suki said on the phone.

She then heard a knock and turned to see Buster, hanging on for dear life.

"Oh my," Suki said.

"H-Hi! It's me again!" Buster told her then exclaimed as he went off balance a bit, "Whoa! Whoa!"

"I'll call you back," she replied, hung up the phone, then asked Buster while rolling down the window, "Are you out of your mind?"

"When are you holding auditions?" he wondered

"Uh, tomorrow. But there's no way--" Suki started to object.

"Please listen--" Buster tried to say.

"Get outta the road, you idiot!" a driver yelled.

"Do you mind? I'm in a meeting here!" Buster told him then asked Suki, "Could you at least give us a chance to try out for your boss?"

"Driver, could you please lose this maniac?" Suki remarked while rolling the window back up.

"Wait wait wait. Hold on. Hold on. Please. Please," he begged before he let go.

The taxi turned, making Buster go off in the canal then shot up in the air by a whale as the crowd there watched.
