Chapter 18: Porsha Now the Lead

"I can't do this," Rosita shuddered, gripping the rail.

"Why didn't you tell me you were afraid of heights?" Buster asked.

"I never even pictured you with any fear, Rosita," Jamie added.

"I wasn't. I mean, I've never been afraid in my whole life before, but I...suddenly, I just...I don't know what happened to me. Did my kids see that?" Rosita said.

"Hey, you guys. What's going on up here?" Porsha asked, coming up.

"Who is that?" Rosita asked.

"Mr. Crystal's daughter, Porsha," Jamie answered.

"Ooh. Can I try?" Porsha asked, holding the harness.

"No no no no no no. I can't let you jump off here," Buster said.

"Daddy, he won't let me jump!" Porsha called down to her dad.

"Moon, come on. Let her do the thing," Crystal told him.

"Yay!" Porsha cheered and hooked herself up.

"Porsha, wait!" Buster called as she ran for the edge.

"Whoa, hey. Wait just a minute," Sasha added.

Then Porsha leapt and cheered as she soared through the air.

"I love it! Whee! It's easy!" Porsha cheered.

"Alright, let's get you down, Rosita," Buster said.

"We got ya," Jamie added.

"Oh my gosh, you guys. This is exactly like the dream I had last night. Seriously, you were all there. And you and you and that funny-looking guy over there. All of you," Porsha explained while landing on a Venus prop then gestured to Buster, "And you asked me to sing for you."

"I...I did?" Buster asked as he, Jamie, and Rosita got down from the lift.

"Yeah. And so I was like..." Porsha started, cleared her throat, then sang while swinging around more.

[PORSHA:]
"This girl is on fire
This girl is on fire
She's walking on fire
This girl is on fire"

Jerry clapped as Porsha was lowered to the ground.

"Well, that's a lovely dream you had there, Porsha. Um okay everybody, back to first positrons, please," Buster signaled then offered to Rosita, "Here Rosita. You wanna try it with the helmet this time?"

"Oh, but now I know what the dream meant. Yeah. She's afraid. She'll never be able to play the part. But here I am, and I'm young, and I'm not afraid at all," Porsha said, taking the helmet and putting it on.

"Just because you're younger than her doesn't mean you don't fear that," Jamie pointed out.

"Uh yeah it does. You've never even done anything like that," Porsha remarked.

"Well, not the jump. But I have been swung around above an audience with my boyfriend, and it was terrifying but worth it," Jamie said.

"Oh. Well, never mind. But I still think I'm fearless enough to do this," Porsha stated.

"I can't just give you Rosita's part. I mean..." Buster started when Crystal got to him.

"Moon, walk with me," Crystal told him.

They then went on the Saturn prop and walked on the rings.

"What's wrong with you, huh? What, you got a kink in your think?" Crystal asked.

"It's just that I wrote this part for Rosita and--" Buster started.

"Yeah yeah yeah. Let me tell you something, Moon. What you have here is an opportunity to make me happy. And when an opportunity like that comes along, you better grab it," Crystal remarked, grabbing Buster, then added, "You get me?"

"Uh..." Buster said.

"What? You don't think my daughter's good enough for your show?" Crystal wondered.

"No, Mr. Crystal. Well, I-I think she's wonderful," Buster answered.

"Oh, good. So you'll figure it out," Crystal stated, straightening Buster's bow tie.

"I'll...Yes, I will," Buster nodded.

"Daddy, I'm hungry for French toast!" Porsha called.

"Jerry!" Crystal shouted.

"Yes sir," Jerry responded.

"Get her some French toast!" Crystal ordered then told Buster as he put him down and walked away, "And by the way, I like the set. That whole 'rings moving around' thing. Creative, quirky, I like it."

"Bye, Daddy," Porsha waved.

"Okay. Let's have Porsha measured for a costume right away, please," Suki instructed.

"Yes, right away please," Jerry added.

As they argued about getting French toast for Porsha, Buster came back around to see Rosita, still a little panicked but better than what she was earlier, and Jamie giving her a comforting side hug.

"You okay?" Buster asked.

"A little shaky, but I'm okay," Rosita answered.

"Yeah. You know, uh...Look, maybe this is for the best, huh? I mean, you really were scared up there," Buster told her.

"Right," Rosita nodded sadly as the other cast members came up to her.

"I'll write you another part, Rosita. A really...a really really great part," Buster assured.

"You alright?" Ash asked.

"Oh I'm fine," Rosita answered, giving Buster the helmet.

"Really?" Johnny wondered.

"Yes. You're all very sweet, but like Mr. Moon says, this is probably for the best," Rosita told them.

"Seriously?" Meena asked.

"Seriously. I am completely fine with this," Rosita nodded with a forced smile.

But Jamie could tell she was hiding how she really felt. Rosita could tell when she felt that way, so she figured she would return the favor later that night.
