Chapter 1

Meghan

It's been a month since first day and I've been loving it so far. Being part of the student council is so fun and I get to increase my abilities in journalism club.

I go out the house, leaving a goodbye to my mom, prepare my bike, and ride on the way to school. The cool breeze of air going to my face is my favorite part of the morning.

As I'm five miles away from campus, I hit a huge hump that makes me fall. Darn it. I guess my morning isn't that great after all. Why did they even put a hump in here? And why did I ride so fast? Ugh.

I try to stand up from my place but my right knee has a huge scar that's bleeding. I couldn't even stand up.

I see a black-haired guy, wearing the uniform from my school. "Can you help me?" I ask him.

He turns around to face me and observes my situation. "I't kinda hurts."

"Kinda? Then I guess you're already good," he says and starts to walk away. I am in shock at his reply. How could someone be so rude?

"Excuse me? I didn't mean it like that. I does hurt. Bad. Please help me. I can't really stand," I shout at him and he turns around and rolls his eyes. "Fine."

He guides me to stand and I held on my back. He grabs my bag. "Oh no, it's okay. I got it." Before I steal my bag from him, he already places it on his other shoulder. He carries my bike on his left side and guides me on his right side.

"I'm sorry I'm making it hard for you. I'll make it up to you, I promise. I'll do anything," I look up at him but he seems to ignore it. I look down my knee and whispered, "Fuck you, knee."

We both come late to school and I explain everything that happen to the Hannah, the president. I beg her not to tell this to the principal. When I finally convince her, I go to the nurse's office.

"Oh, my god Meghan. What happened to you?" The nurse guide me to the bed to sit down.

"I guess I biked too fast and then I hit a hump which made me fall," I explain to her as she puts antibiotics on my scar.

"Be careful next time. It could've been much worse," she warns me. "This might take days to cure and I hoped you learned your lesson from this."

I nod. "Yep."

"It looks like you can't walk without support so stay here for a while and just take your afternoon classes," she says and I nod. "I need to eat first because I had nothing in my refrigerator this morning. You're good, right?"

"Yes," I answer. She smiles and left.

I position myself to lie down the bed and close my eyes. I suddenly hear the door open but I didn't open my eyes since my body is tired from all the walking earlier.

"Hey..."

"Hey..."

"Hey!"

I wake up seeing the guy that helped earlier in front of me. "What... what are you... doing here?" I ask him.

"You missed lunch," he says. "It's 2:40."

My eyes widen, my mouth opens, and my heart almost stop beating. Did I skip almost every period today? Shit! I need to go. I sit up and stand up but my legs doesn't want to. Luckily, this guy catches me and our faces are an inch away from each other. His arms are around my waist while my arms are around his neck. I pushed him away which made him fall on the floor while I sit back on the bed. "Fuck! I'm so sorry."

He stands up and sits on a chair. "Really? Do you really have to push me hard? You could've told me to put you back on the bed." He scoffs and looks away.

"Sorry. I panicked." I rub my hand on my back neck. I suddenly hear my stomach growling. "Is there still food in the canteen?"

He smirks. "The guidance councilor might catch you skipping classes."

He's right. I close my eyes and sigh. "What are you doing here?"

"Rest," he simply answers. Wow, rest.

I scoff and shake my head in disbelief. "I'm Meghan Young by the way."

"William Adams."
