Chapter Twenty: Most Probably Get Arrested
"This is so cool!" I yelled over to Cody.
He laughed a little, "I know!"
I don't know how fast we were going, but I didn't care. I was pretty sure we were going really fast. My arms were wrapped around his torso and my face was pressed against his back.
"Where are we going?" I yelled over at him through the sound of the wind that was hitting our faces.
"You'll see!"
I stayed quiet and held on. Suddenly I noticed that we were going out of town.
"You said you weren't gonna kill me!" My eyes widened at the sight of us heading down a high way.
I felt his body shake indicating that he was laughing, "Geez, you watch way too many movies."
I rolled my eyes and looked ahead, "I'm serious."
He took another right turn and soon we were going down a slope, though still on the road.
"Almost there," he announced, "Wanna try something fun?"
He turned his head slightly to the back and I pushed it back immediately, "Focus on the road. I'm too young to die."
"Yeah yeah."
"What were you saying?" I asked again yelling to him.
Man, I've been yelling way too much.
"I said do you wanna try something fun?" He repeated.
I raised my eyebrows even though he couldn't see them, "Fun?"
He scoffed, "Yeah, don't you know what it is?"
"I do. It's just, what kind of fun?"
"You're gonna stand up."
I shrug, "Yeah sure. Right after you stop. "
He shook his head, "No. I mean now. "
"Like now as in right now when we're going 100km/hour?"
"Yes. Like right now. "
My eyes widened and held him tighter.
"Hell no! I'm killing myself!"
"You'll be fine. It's totally safe. C'mon."
I hesitated for a little bit. Battling with myself whether I should do it or not. I mean it would be fun. I've never done anything like this ever in my life. I mean, it's not on my bucket list too and I know bucket list are for when you want to kick the bucket but, this could be worth telling a story about won't it?
After thinking for a while, I nodded my head slowly.
"Fine. But if I die, you're dying with me! "
"Okay, slowly get up and stand up on the seat. I'll slow down a little so you have balance to stand then after you stand, I'll go a little faster. Make sure to hold onto me," he barked the instructions.
This is going to be the death of me.
I felt the motorcycle slow down, "Okay stand up now!"
Without hesitation, I stood up. Even though with wobbly legs, I figured if I died, at least my ghost would come back to kill him. I put both my feet on the seat and rested my hands on his shoulders. The wind rushed through my hair making it even rough. I smiled and looked down at Cody whose eyes were on the road but he was grinning.
I straightened up a little because right now I probably looked constipated from the back. I stood up a little straighter, my hands still holding Cody's shoulder tightly.
I laughed and looked ahead again. The highway was real clear. No cars, no trucks. Nothing. It was just clear. The afternoon sun was setting on the beach down below on the road ridge that we were currently driving on. I realized that we were slightly going out of town. Like we were on the high way.
The road was on the cliff overlooking the ocean where the sun was just starting to go down. It was almost meeting the sea line, just right. I shook a strand of blonde hair away from my eyes and looked over at the sea. The waves were roughed, crashing against the rocks on the shore. It was awesome.
I laughed again for no reason at all. "This is awesome! " I yelled.
We sped up and curved the side of the cliff and came to a stop where cars came to park to take pictures of the sun set. Cody slowed down and stopped his bike smoothly. The little curve in the side of the road overlooking the beach.
As soon as we stopped, I jumped off the motorcycle and stood on the ground.
"That was awesome! " I cried smiling.
He chuckled and got off his bike.
"You've never done that before? "
I gasped, "Are you kidding me? I would've never had the guts before!"
He nodded his head walking over to the rail that acted as a barrier overlooking the edge of the cliff over to the beach below and stood there gazing ahead.
"What was different this time? " he asked turning back to look at me with a smirk.
I rolled my eyes, "Definitely not you. I guess it was... I don't know. Maybe I just wanted to try something new. " I shrugged and walk over to join him on the rail.
"How do you know this place? " I asked quietly. The both of us leaning on the rail and looking over to the beach just about time where the sun was setting.
He shrugged, "I use to come here with my family when I was little."
I huffed, "I didn't even know this place existed. Guess I really need to get out more often. "
He smiled a little at that, "What a nerd. "
I bumped him, "What a typical jock. "
"I'm not a jock."
"You're right. You're a jerk. "
He gasped and placed a hand over his heart pretending to be hurt, "How could you! I bring you safely to a remote yet beautiful place and you return the favor by calling me a jerk?"
"Yup. Pretty much, " I chuckled.
He blinked and looked at me, "You're an idiot. "
I laughed and looked at him, "Don't worry pal, I know. "
I turn around looked over the rail again leaning over slightly to take a look at the beach below.
"Wanna go down? " I turn around to look at Cody. He has that smirk on his face.
My eyes widened, "We're allowed to go down there? "
He smirked, "Nope. "
My face grew serious, "What happens if we do? "
He shrugged, "Most probbaly get arrested. "
"How do you know that? "
He chuckled and pointed to his right making me follow, "It says right there. "
The sign that was hanging on a wooded stick read DO NOT ENTER PRIVATE PROPERTY.
"That would horrible if someone didn't listen to that sign wouldn't it? "
He sighed, "Very horrible. "
"But then again... "
He nodded his head, "I feel you."
"It would be fun. "
"It would."
"But I'd probably die even before I get to the cell. My mom would kill me. "
"My dad would kick my ass."
"My mom would skin my fur," I say without any emotion daydreaming and looking at the sun set.
"You have fur? " Cody asked in the same manner.
"Probably. Who knows"
"My dad would roast my head. "
"I wouldn't even last," I say and start chuckling.
"The cops won't even have to do anything, " he chuckled too.
I sighed, "We'll probably get busted and end up in the holding cell. "
The sun was already half way down. More like already down. It was the orange glow that was still shadowing the ocean giving it that afternoon sunset shine.
He sighed too, "Yeah. Probably. "
We both looked at the ground. Silence fell over the two of us.
I looked back up to look at him only to find that he was already looking at me with a smirk.
I follow his action and smirk back at him. We both smile and say in unison;
"Let's do it!"
He turned around slowly walked around the railing, where the slope slowly went down to the beach. He ducked and slowly went down as I followed closely behind him.
"Watch your step, " he said putting his hand out to me as I took it.
"Okay mom, " I scoff taking his hand. He held onto my hand and slowly led me down the slope.
He rolled his eyes and turned back around.
"Walk a little slower geez, " I complain as he pulls me down the slope.
"Sorry grandma, " he laughed.
I pinch his finger and he winces and looks back at me, "You do not distract the driver. If I fall then we both-"
"Hey! Who's there? " We both get startled by a flashlight followed by a deep voice shooting questions while coming closer.
"Woah! " I turn around to tell Cody to shut up only to find that he was on the edge of toppling over.
I held onto his hand, and try to pull him to steady him. Instead of pulling him back up, his weight yanks me forward to him as I fly forward and knock him over making the both of us to come flying down the slope.
I yelled as we both flew down. I could hear him say a bunch of ouch and ow. My head was spinning as I rolled down.
He rolled down the slope and landed at the bottom with me rolling down after him, still screaming. Luckily, he landed first because I flew behind him and landed right on top of him.
"Oof! " he breathed.
"Who's there? " the same person asked suddenly torching towards the slope.
I quickly stood up and tried to drag Cody aside only to find myself struggling.
"Cody get up, " I whisper yell at him only his probbaly dead from me falling on top of him.
"Can't. Breath. "
He says very slowly hardly audible.
I roll my eyes and whisper yell to him, "Be a man and get up! "
He gets up slowly groaning and wincing in pain as he did. After he managed to stand up, barely, he shakes his blonde head to get the dirt out, just then, the flash light landed right at the back of his head causing the both of us to freez in our positions.
"Stop! Don't move! You're crossing private property! It is an offense! "
His back was facing the guard that was torching the back of his head. The cop however couldn't see me. Cody slowly looked up at me.
My eyes widened even more as I looked at him and mouthing, "What are we gonna do?"
His eyes also widened as he looked at me. Suddenly he mouthed only one word.
"Run. "
