Chapter Fifteen: I Can See The Light!

"She's fine, all she had was a minor panic attack."

"What do you mean a minor panic attack?"

"A minor panic attack meaning-"

I groaned, my eyes fluttering open then closing instantly when meeting a bright light. The voices I heard suddenly fell silent.

"What's happening to her?" The deep husky voice asked sounding like it was freaking out.

"Um...she's waking up," the second voice that sounded like a female replied in a duh tone making the second voice mumble an oh as if he had just realized it was normal to wake up.

I instantly sat up from the bed with my arm over my eyes shielding them from the blinding lights.

"Oh my God, I can see the light! Am I dying?" I cried struggling to blink properly.

Just then a head came in front of the light blocking it from me, "Much better?"

"Thanks," I replied still not taking my arm away from shielding my eyes.

"Hey Page," the deep voice said. It sounded familiar although my brain was hurting to even try to remember where I heard it before or who it sounded like.

"I'll leave the both of you. Make sure to get her out of here before your third period begins. I'm not going to the principles' office again and getting accused for making out with students, especially now, two of them," the female voice said followed by the sound pt a door opening and closing leaving me confused but still not saying anything.

And then there was silence.

"Where the hell am I? Is this heaven?" I said deciding to break the uncomfortable silence. Still with my arm over my eyes.

"Yes, you're in heaven. And I'm the baby Jesus," the voice said chuckling slowly.

"If you're baby Jesus, who was the lady?"

"My mom, Virgin Mary."

"Funny," I said rolling my eyes.

I put my hand down and looked up to meet with a person I didn't think was going to be here standing beside the bed that I was now sitting on.

"Eugene?" I asked unbelievably staring at him.

"In the flesh or should I say, baby Jesus a.k.a me, has returned?" he smiled looking at me.

"That's not funny," I said with a snide.

"Right, sorry."

"What are you even doing here?" I asked frowning at him.

"I ah, I brought you here. You passed out in the hallway during second period," he added when he met my confused expression.

"I passed out?"

"Yeah, the nurse said you had a minor panic attack or something," he replied scratching the back of his neck.

"A minor panic attack?"

"Yeah, you know, like a panic attack that is.....minor," he finished off slowly like he was unsure how to explain. "Look I have no idea what happened to you but you passed out, that's all I know."

"And how did you find me again?" I frowned looking at him. Why did he help me? Literally all my life I've never said one word to him. At all. The only person in the group of the three that I've talked too is Aldan, obviously.

He scoffed, "What do you mean how did I find you?"

"Everyone was in class, so how did you magically appear?" I fought back the urge to roll my eyes.

"Oh that," he chuckled, "I was skipping class. That's how I came across you in the hallway having this..." He motioned to me, "whatever that was."

"OK whatever, thanks again," I slowly moved to the edge of the bed and put my legs slowly in the titled floor. I looked up and saw that Eugene was watching me very carefully, in fact, he was already standing beside the bed closer than he was before.

"Ahem, I can walk," I said raising my eyebrows at him.

"I know, its just, I'm being cautious," he stated and smiled nervously.

"You don't have to be, in not that clumsy," I rolled my eyes and hopped down from the bed.

"Speaking of clumsy, I'm sorry about this morning in the hallway," he said looking at me.

"It's whatever," I waved it off searching for my textbooks that I had with me before I blacked out.

"Oh okay cool, I just thought I would clear that up because I don't want to cause any trouble and-"

"Okay stop with your literal reasoning for a minute and answer me this-"

"What?"

"-where the hell are my books?" I asked breathing lightly and looking around the room.

"Your books?" Eugene asked frowning at me, "What books?"

I sighed and ran a hand over my face, "My books Eugene, the ones I was holding before I fell and had this minor panic attack in the hallway."

He thought for a while and kept mouthing the word books to himself as if it was going to help him remember. After a few silent moments he looked at me.

"What? You know where they are?" I asked trying to hide my happiness. Those books are my brains. If I loose them, I am doomed.

"No," I released a long breath, "but I know who we can ask," he finished and smiled at me like he had just won an Oscar.

I made a bored expression and looked at him, "Let me guess, the nurse?"

"Yeah! Oh wait, that was obvious wasn't it?"

I groaned shaking my head and pushed past him walking out of the nurses office. I came to a stop when I was outside of the office looking around for her. But that wasn't what made me freak out, what freaked me out and made me mad was when I walked out and saw Aldan standing in front of the door with my books in his hands.

Oh I am dead meat. He is here to kill me.

"Page!" He said with, what was that, relief? Yup, definitely relief. Walking with both relief and concern he came to stop in front of Eugene and I. "Are you okay?"

I frowned and looked at him, "I'm fine. Why?"

"I was um- looking for you," he said scratching the back of his neck.

"What for?" I snapped again looking at him.

He sighed and looked at me, "Look I just wanted to give you your books and check in on you okay? I felt bad and...You know what," he paused and gave my books to me handing them violently to me when he hit them against my bare palms, "I was trying to be the least nicest and you don't even appreciate it."

"Nice?" I scoffed, "This is your definition of nice? Well of you think it is, let me be the first to break it to you and tell you it is not! Its not nice to make people feel like trash and then apologize all for nothing just so you can do it again! Its not nice, to leave people who just in fact had a minor panic attack in the hallway and just leave them like that and then all of sudden appear out of God knows where and starts asking if you are alright when you know they aren't! That's not nice Aldan!" I said cupping the books in my hand and walking past him not bothering to look behind me.

I was pretty sure I was so close to the school doors ready to get out when Eugene stopped me, "Hey wait."

"Not you again," I sighed looking at him, "what do you want?"

"Geez clam woman. I just wanted to tell you that school isn't over yet," he stated chuckling.

"I know. But right now, I'm not feeling so good so I just want to go home. Excuse me," I pushed past him without him stopping me. But just when I was halfway out, I heard him say;

"You know you should cut Aldan some slack. He's a good guy. He was actually the one who carried you to the nurses office and was afraid you'd be mad when you woke up to see him so he asked me to watch you. Page, Aldan isn't that bad."

I turned slightly and looked back at Eugene, "Just because Aldan did one good thing to me, doesn't change all the bad things he's done to me. Same goes for all of you," pushing past the door, I went out into the school parking lot.
