March 21st
Dear diary,
Only a week or so until the dance. I haven't told Erika that I've made up my mind to sneak out. I feel like if I say something it'll feel so set in stone, but I've got to tell her soon.
Today in P.E I talked to Landon about his girlfriend or move over his lack there of a girlfriend. The two of us had been joking about a show we both really like when we were interrupted by, you guessed it, my evil stepsister.
Sienna waddled over to us wearing purple, short P.E shorts that could barely pass dress code and a pink shirt that clung to her as if it was three sizes too small. Sometimes I wish my P.E class had a uniform like some schools.
I rolled my eyes and continued to talk about whether or not a TV character would discover his best friend's secret before the season was over. She glared at me and cut into our conversation.
"Oh yeah. I love that show. Superheroes are, like, the coolest." She put on her dumb girl act. I groaned. She glared at me.
"Do you have a problem? Or just a stick up your butt?" Sienna hissed.
"Can you even name one character on the show?" I doubted she had even seen it.
"Uh yeah, there's the uh pyromarker or whatever and the pixel guy."
"Pyromaniac and The PixelWizard, you mean?" I corrected her. She rolled her eyes.
"Whatever," She continued to look at Landon. "So it seems we've got a lot in common. We both have similar tastes in television and, like, a lot of other stuff."
Landon raised an eyebrow. "Er... Yeah, so?"
"So I think I'd look good on your arm at the dance. How about it, Landon?"
Landon looked at her awkwardly. His face made me unsure of whether I should laugh or slap Sienna for making my friend uncomfortable. I snickered anyway.
"Er... I think I'm good." He told her.
"Hmph!" She stared wide eyed at him, unable to believe someone would turn her down. She turned on her heel and walked away, her bronze ponytail swinging.
Landon smiled at me and gestured to my least favorite stepsister. "And that is why I don't have a girlfriend."
"Oh yeah? Girls want to date you, so you don't have a girlfriend. Man, your life must be so rough." I teased. His grin broadened.
"I don't have a girlfriend because the girls who like me act like that. Not exactly attractive." He told me.
"Is that the only reason you don't have a girlfriend?" I asked curiously. I shouldn't have but I had to know.
"I guess I just haven't found a girl I really like yet. I mean there's one..." He trailed off, not wanting to divulge anymore information. "Er... What about you? How come your single?" He asked.
I waved my hand. "Oh there's plenty of time for dating in college and besides I'm not exactly a social butterfly. Plus, have you seen what I've got for sisters? Guys generally drool over them, not me."
It was true in a sense. I wasn't bad to look at, actually most people consider me pretty attractive with my golden hair, freckles, and blue eyes, but no guy had ever really paid attention me. Maybe it was my awkward nature or my tomboyish clothes. They were to busy with Sienna who basically had the body of a model and wore as little cloth as she could get away with. And Erika may have been her fraternal twin instead of identical but she wasn't a bad looking girl either.
"Why wouldn't guys drool over you?" Landon wondered confused. He blushed. "Never mind."
"What? Come on. Tell me." I begged.
He looked hesitant. "It's just... You're much more attractive than Sienna." His face grew redder.
I smiled. "Aw! You're the sweetest guy in the school."
A faint grin returned to his face. He ruffled my hair. "Yeah, well don't expect me to be like that all the time."
"You two," The teacher, Mrs. Diaz, shouted at us. "Quit chatting and get going!"
Landon stared at me with a smirk on his face. "Betcha I can bench more!"
I smiled back. I knew he could bench more, but I still wanted to challenge him. "You're on!"
I've got to tell Erika soon. I need my partner in crime if I'm going to sneak out of the house. I really want to see Landon and stay with the yearbook and journalism clubs. Ugh, which reminds me! I'm going to need to snatch my camera back from my stepmother, Belle!
Oh well. All in due time...
Sincerely, Ella
