Dear Diary,
Two weeks until the Spring Formal. I wish I didn't care but it's kind hard to ignore when boys are asking out girls left and right, posters advertising it are hung up all around the school, and both Erika and Sienna are mentioning it in every other sentence.
I can tell Erika's trying to stop talking about it because I can't go and she doesn't want to make me feel bad but I don't think she can help it. She's really excited and I don't know why... She's never gotten this excited over any other dances. Hmm...
Sienna on the other hand is rubbing it in my face. We've never really gotten along, usually we ignore each other, but now I'm starting to think she hates me!
Now I really want to go. Not because I want to dance with Landon or anything like that. No the reason I want to go is because Zeke talked to me today. Zeke is the head of the yearbook committee and the school newspaper. We're pretty good friends. He also happens to be Landon's best friend.
Anyway Zeke wanted to talk to me about the dance. No he didn't ask me to go with him or anything. Here's what happened.
Zeke ran up to Erika and I in the hallway when we were heading to the bus. When he saw us his face started to go red.
"Hi, Ella. Hi, Erika. Ella, Are you going to the dance?"
"Uh, why?" I asked nervously. I was worried he was going to ask me and I would have to break his heart.
"Well I was wondering... Well actually I wasn't wondering Mr Abbot told me to do this. Can you take pictures of the dance for the year book and the newspaper? You're on both of them so it makes sense to have you do it." He said.
"I can't sorry."
"I was hoping this wouldn't happen. You see Mr Abbot said that if you couldn't we'll have to give your spot to someone else." Zeke said rather upset.
"You mean I'm fired!?" I exclaimed.
He nodded.
"Okay I'll find a way to be there."
He smiled.
"Great! Hey, Erika, can I talk to you, alone?" He asked.
"I'll save you a seat." I told Erika. I headed out to the bus.
It only took a few minutes. Erika sat down next to me.
"So you going to the dance now?" She asked.
"Ugh! I don't know! I mean I want to. I want to stay on the newspaper and yearbook, but I can't go." I exclaimed. No one payed any attention to me besides Erika.
"Wait! You can do it for me!" I exclaimed.
"What?"
"You can take pictures of the dance for me! Please, Erika!"
"Alright." She sighed.
"Great!" But that was before I remembered Erika is horrible with technology of all kinds. Computers she accidentally messes with the screen so it appears upside down, phones she shouts into the speaker, and cameras her finger blocks the lens. She's not stupid, she's just technically challenged. Maybe I should ask someone else.
"Ella, you're a teenager. Just go to the dance. Teens sneak out all the time. You'll just get in a little more trouble." Erika said.
"Thanks, conscious." I rolled my eyes sarcastically.
"I'm serious, Ella. Mom will be gone until 12:30 that night. I checked her schedule. Please come with me."
"I'll... think about it."
Should I sneak out? It seems wrong and I don't want Bella to get mad at me, but I really want to go! What should I do?
Sincerely,
Ella
