The Obsession

Sammy woke up in front of Y/n's gate to the sound of a skeleton chicken and the warm sun on his cloth-skin.

Vampires:
That girl's gone quite mad
That girl's gone quite mad
Hope nothing happened that's too bad

Citizen 1:
She's all alone up there
Locked away inside

Citizen 2:
Never says a word

Child:
Hope she hasn't died

All:
That girl's gone quite mad
That girl's gone quite mad

Sammy got up to look at the giant castle, trying to catch a glimpse of her. Nothing; only the pitch-blackness of her windows.

-

Y/n paced around her room - well, more like floated, as her legs had seemed to disappear to make it easier - her hands behind her back

Y/n:
Christmas time is buzzing in my skull
Will it let me be? I cannot tell
There's so many things I cannot grasp
When I think I've got it, and then at last

She placed a card on top of the house, then knocked it down with a wave of her hand.

Y/n:
Through my long, green fingers it does slip
Like a snowflake in a fiery grip!

She took one of the cards, clasping her hand around it, and let it go up I'm flames, singeing it to ash. Her entire house was decorated in green leaves and red berries, although scattered may have been a better word for it.

Y/n:
Something here I'm not quite getting
Though I try, I keep forgetting
Like a memory long since past
Here in an instant, gone in a flash
What does it mean, what does it mean?!

She bent over a small bowl, taking an eyeball out with her thumb and finger, holding it close to her face.

Y/n:
In these little bric-a-brac,
A secret's waiting to be cracked
These dolls and toys confuse me so
Confound it all! I love it though

She picked up a doll on the table missing an eye and put it in the socket. The doll blinked one eye at a time as she was set down.

Y/n:
Simple objects, nothing more
But something's hidden through a door
Though I do not have the key,
Something's there I cannot see
What does it mean, what does it mean?!

Purple flames scattered the room, blowing everything back. On his bed, Toby glanced up, then went back to his nap.

Y/n:
What does it mean?

She took one of the books that had been blown, the corner of it blackened, and flipped through it.

Y/n:
I've read these Christmas books so many times
I know the stories and I know the rhymes
I know the Christmas carols all by heart

My skull's so full, it's tearing me apart
As often as I've read them, something's wrong
So hard to put my long, green finger on

She sunk onto the floor, surprised when Toby took the book away to stop her from losing her sanity.

Well, thanks, Toby. But it was far too late for that.

Y/n:
Or perhaps it's really not as deep
As I've been led to think
Am I trying much too hard?

She sprang up, the dog taking his blanket and moving rooms. He just wanted to sleep.

Y/n:
Of course! I've been too close to see
The answer's right in front of me
Right in front of me...

It's simple really, very clear
Like music drifting in the air
Invisible, but everywhere
Just because I cannot see it,
Doesn't mean I can't believe it!

You know, I think this Christmas thing
It's not as tricky as it seems
And why should they have all the fun?
It should belong to anyone!

Not anyone, in fact, but me
Why, I could make a Christmas tree
And there's no reason I can find
I couldn't handle Christmas time

I bet I could improve it, too
And that's exactly what. I'll. Do...

The lights on her house went off, only showing the red glow of her eyes in the pitch blackness.

-

"Patience, everyone.  Y/n has a special Job for each of us.  Dr.
Finkelstein, your Xmas assignment is ready.  Dr. Finkelstein to the front
of the line."

Sammy ducked out of the line as Finkelstein rolled his way to the front, looking nervously ahead. All that he could think of was the burning tree etched into his memory.

-

Finishing with the vampires, Y/n took out a huge blueprint and put it on the table for the doctor to see. "Do you think it would be possible to make some of these?" There were crudely drawn reindeer and a big box for a sled with Santa scrawled on.

"Hmm...their construction should be exceedingly simple, I think."

"Perfect! Here, you can keep this for reference." Instead of her normal refined, graceful self, she was chirping away, jumping around like a kid with an ice cream cone.

He rolled it up and wheeled away to search one last time for Sammy.

"How horrible our Xmas will be," the mayor said.

"Jolly, Mr. Mayor."

His face switched around. "Oh...how jolly our Xmas will be." Out of nowhere, he was pelted, trying to shield himself. Seeing who it was, he demanded, "What are you doing here?!"

The children ran over, two boys and a girl.

"Y/n sent for us."

"Specifically."

"By name."

"Lock!"

"Shock!"

"And Barrel!"

The mayor looked behind his shoulder nervously, calling out, "Y/n! Y/n! It's Oggie's boys!", much to Shock's annoyance.

Y/n looked over and smiled. She barely had to tilt her head down, she was that short in her normal form. "Hello, my dear children. You arrived swiftly. I have a job for you three that I know only you can do. So listen up."

"And we thought you didn't like us, Y/n," Shock giggled.

"Of course I don't dislike you. Now. No one must know. Here's the plan..." She leaned closer to them and whispered, the mayor trying to listen through his megaphone. "Understand?" she finished, pulling away. "Oh, and one last thing. Leave that bastard Oogie Boogie out of this!" She resisted a shriek as the mention of his name.

"Whatever you say, Y/n."

"Of course, Y/n."

"Wouldn't dream of it, Y/n."

Behind their backs where nobody could see, their fingers were crossed.

When they left, the mayor informed her, "I don't trust them."

"Oh, Mr. Mayor. They aren't bad children. They only need a proper parent figure."

Um...I have no interest in writing this song, honestly, but here's the video. Have at it. The only difference is the name, anyway.
And don't worry. Y/n and Sammy will have some cute moments soon.
