Simply Liberating

Your legs might cry out in protest, burn with pain,

But you know it’s worth it, the hard work and strain,

For when you feel that breeze rippling through your hair,

Taking with it your every worry and care,

When you feel the sun’s warm glow on your face,

That takes you to that heavenly, dreamy place,

You know that each hill you conquer and climb,

Gets easier, feels more natural each time.

Surely there’s no point in elaborating,

The breath taking views,

You can’t lose,

When it’s you and your bike it’s simply liberating.

The sheer speed makes your body tingle with excitement and exhilaration,

Each new bend you fly around brings waves of anticipation,

Freedom beckons, with the click of each gear,

And you get a strange buzz from that odd fear,

Of the possibility that you may never again want to walk or slow,

Of the possibility that this freeing speed may be all you now want to know.
