WHO IS ESSIE MULLIGAN?!

You may have heard of the brand new Netflix and CBC show, "Anne with an 'e'", but what do you know about the main star Essie Mulligan, who plays dear old Anne Shirley Cuthbert?!

Here at PopSugar we have done some digging and found out some facts for you about the star.

1. Her full name.

Now, you may know her as Essie Mulligan but that isn't her full name. Essie is actually:
Esmerelda Saoirse Aoife Mulligan.

2. She is actually Irish.

The young star who we all believed to be Canadian from her accent on the show is actually from Southern Ireland. We are not entirely sure which part but we do know from many posts on her Instagram that she is from the south of the country known for beautiful accents, potatoes and Guinness and is in fact a farm girl! Living in the heart of the countryside on her family-owned farm.

3. Her age.

Although her character is only eleven, Essie herself is sixteen! Now, looking at her playing Anne you would not think she was that age but it must be due to her costume because looking at her Instagram she does look her age!

4. She comes from an acting family.

Not only is Essie an actress but her older brothers Prosper and Fra are as well! Prosper "Prop" Mulligan is known for his role in the film 'Norfolk' but also is a rising star in Christopher Nolan's new film "Dunkirk" which is in production right now. Her other brother, Fra, has been in multiple tv shows including one with Essie herself! The two played siblings in the British Tv Show, "Dani's Castle". You may not have realised that it was Essie playing 'Esme' with Fra playing 'Gabe' because the young star had to dye her hair to a blonde (see bottom right). Not only that, her cousin is an actor too! But you may know him from being best friends with the heartthrob Tom Holland. Yes, you heard us. Essie Mulligan is in fact Harrison Osterfield's cousin!

5. Relationship status.

Now, there have been no confirmation as to whether Essie is taken or not. However, there are many rumours stipulating the young star and Harry Holland, Tom Holland's younger brother. It all started when they began to interact on Instagram and then many pictures were posted of Essie and the Holland brothers and Harrison! Now we are definitely shipping Hessie! What about you? 6. She has a rather odd obsession with drawing on her body.

Many a times on her Instagram Essie has been asked whether she has tattoos and each time she has denied it. She claims she loves to draw on her body and once she has drawn something that she likes she always draws it on each day after they have been washed off from showering. Now it might seem weird but they do look great on her? Is this suggesting that when she is old enough that she will be getting tattoos?

7. She is a major Marvel and Harry Potter fan!

Now we all have our love for franchises but it is safe to say that Marvel and Harry Potter have a huge fangirl out there! Essie is not shy when it comes to expressing her love for the two franchises and is often sporting merchandise of them! Now knowing Holland, does this mean she could potentially wind up with a spot in Marvel films?

8. She is against animal cruelty!

A number of times we have seen or loveable redhead respond to comments about the make up brand she uses. Essie uses Pacifica products. They are cruelty free and vegan! She expressed how she loves animals and doesn't tolerate cruelty to them and after the animals leave her farm that they have no input as to what happens to them except for that she knows that they are treated with care and are free range! She has also stated that she doesn't use or own any products linked with animal testing or cruelty!  Can she get any more adorable?!
