New gal (long(er))

My husband had always been good to me. Always kind, sweet, even-tempered, but when he got drunk, it was smart to stay out of his way.

Momma told me to leave him, called him a 'no good womanizing alcoholic', but she doesn't understand him like I do. And nobody loves him like I do.

That's when I saw that new gal hanging on his arm, it 'bout tore my heart in two.

But a southern gal never gives up her man without a fight.

So tonight, I'm in my prettiest nightgown, got candles lit and music playing. I even managed to scrub out all the dirt on my hands from being in the garden. His car's pulling up now. I bet he'll be happy to see me. After all, it wasn't easy digging myself up from underneath them rosebushes.
