Chapter 1 - the Twin's Birth (Rewritten)
It was a cool African morning and the golden sun crested the horizon, bathing the land in golden-orange light. Hundreds of Animals were making their way to a certain place, that place was...
Pride Rock, and for a good reason.
The Animals were gathering to celebrate the birth of the children of King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi. Every creature in the land would gather, it was a momentous occasion that had been passed down through the generations, since the time of Mohatu.
As the animals, from the small termite, to the enormous elephant, gathered at Pride Rock, some of them parted to clear a path for a elderly Baboon with a staff. The old Baboon made his walked up Pride Rock to greet King Mufasa, who welcomed him with a hug for his old friend.
The baboon then approached the Queen, who cradled two cubs in her large paws. He lifted up his staff and shook it just above the two cubs heads, the seeds rattling inside one of them.
The two little cubs both swatted at fruit was attached to the staff, the baboon chuckled and cracked open the other fruit and took some of the sticky juice that was inside it and spread it one the boy cub's head and then the girl cub's head as well.
After doing this, he grabbed some dirt off the ground and sprinkled it on the two cubs. "What are their names Sarabi?" The baboon asked her. " The boy is Simba and the girl is Zafira , Rafiki" Sarabi smiled. Rafiki chuckled warmly. "Those are perfect names".
He gently picked up both cubs and walked towards the edge of Pride Rock. Rafiki lifted the cubs into the air. upon seeing this, the animals who had gathered at Pride Rock all reared up and celebrated.
But, there was one Animal who had not come to celebration. It was the king's Brother, Scar.
Scar watched as a small mouse ran out of a small hole in the wall of his cave. Scar caught the little rodent in his paw and held it up to look at it.
"Life's not fair, is it?" Scar said to the mouse.
"You see I, well I shall never be King and you... Shall never see the light of day" Scar said before opening his mouth to eat the mouse.
"Didn't your mother ever tell you not to play with your food?" The King's majordomo Zazu scolded him as he flew in.
"What do you want?" Scar said, his attention leaving his prey.
"I'm here to announce that King Mufasa is on his way, so you better have a good excuse for missing the ceremony this morning" Zazu said, distracting Scar so that the mouse got it's tail free and climbed out from underneath his paw and scampered away.
"Oh look Zazu you made me lose my lunch" Scar said.
"Ha! You'll lose more than that when the King gets through with you, he's as mad as a Hippo with a hernia" Zazu laughed, turning away from Scar.
"Ooh, I quiver with fear!" Scar growled intimidating Zazu with ease.
"Now Scar, don't look at me that way, Help!!!" Zazu screamed as Scar caught him in his mouth.
A voice suddenly interrupted Scars new meal. The lanky lion turn to face his brother.
"Scar! Drop him" Mufasa ordered him. Zazu's beak popped out out of Scar's mouth.
"Impeccable timing your majesty" Zazu said, causing Scar to spit him back out.
"Why if it isn't my big brother, depending from on high to mingle with the commoners" Scar taunted, circling his older brother.
"Sarabi and I didn't see you at the presentation of Simba and Zafira" Mufasa stated with a stone cold expression.
"That was today? Oh I feel simply awful" Scar mused, then he ran his claws down one of the walls in his cave, leaving scratch marks and making a horrendous screeching noise.
"Must've slipped my mind" Scar continued, looking towards Mufasa and Zazu.
"Yes well, as slippery as your mind is, as the king's Brother, you should have been first in line!" Zazu stated, flying up to look Scar in the eye. Scar clicked his teeth together, promting Zazu to duck behind Mufasa's front paws.
"Well I was first in line, until the little hairballs were born!" Scar said leaning down to look at Zazu. He emphasized the word 'hairballs' with such venom that it made Zazu flinch a little.
"Those Hairballs are my children and Zafira is your future queen" Mufasa said threateningly, using the same cold tone he used earlier.
"Oh I shall Practice my curtsy" Scar taunted again before turning away from Mufasa.
"Don't turn your back on me, Scar!" Mufasa yelled at his brother. Scar looked back at them, his cold lime green eyes glowing.
"Oh no Mufasa, perhaps you shouldn't turn your back on me" Scar starting to walk away.
"Is that a challenge!?" Mufasa roared, running in front of his younger brother.
"Temper temper, I wouldn't dream of challenging you" Scar said casually, with an eye role.
"Pity, why not?'' Zazu questioned.
"Well as far as brains go, I got the lion's share" Scar bent down to Zazu's level. He look up at his older brother, rising up again. ", but when it comes to brute strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool". Scar walking away.
Mufasa watched his brother stalk away into the tall grass. "There's one in every family sire, two in mine actually," Zazu said flying up to land on Mufasa's shoulder.", and they always manage to ruin special occasions".
"What am I going to do with him?" Mufasa said with a sigh, shaking his head slowly in disappointment.
"He'd make a very handsome throw rug" Zazu joked, trying to lift the king's spirits.
"Zazu..." Mufasa looked at his Majordomo with a small chuckle.
"And just think... whenever he gets too dirty, you can take him out and beat him" Zazu said to Mufasa as he walked away from Scar's den. The king laughed at that statement.
