9. Guardian Angel

"Barry, this is a terrible idea."

Cisco points at me, nodding. "I'm with Raven on this one."

Barry sighs, looking over at Caitlin only to get the same look as the rest of us. "Oh come on guys, it's not that complicated. I just go back in time, get the answer from Wells, and then come right back. Simple."

"What about your other you?" Cisco asks, raising an eyebrow.

"I'll just knock him out or something," Barry shrugs, acting as if all of this wasn't a big deal. "It's not like he'll see me coming."

Caitlin crosses her arms. "You don't think Wells will see this coming? He's from the future too, you know."

"I'm a good actor, you guys know that," Barry says, causing me to raise an eyebrow. He thought he was a good actor? He should see me. "This will work guys. It's all we can do...none of the books are working and I've read just about everything."

Everyone looks around at one other in silence, trying to decide what was the best option here. I personally didn't care all that much, since this wasn't my timeline for Barry to screw over. Whatever happens happens, but I couldn't care less.

"Your plan is terrible."

We all look up to see Harry walk in, a backpack slung around his shoulders. He must have been out looking for Jesse. Cisco asks first. "Did you find Jesse?"

"Does it look like I found Jesse?" he snaps back, walking forwards and throwing his stuff down in a nearby chair. "Barry, how many times have you traveled through time?"

Barry shrugs. "A few..."

"Do you have any idea how many things you could screw up?" Harry says, proving a good point.

Barry retaliates. "All I need is one conversation with Doctor Wells-"

"He's not Wells, I'm Wells!" Harry yells, throwing his jacket to the side then. "This man has been studying you for fifteen years and you don't think he's going to know who you are?"

Cisco pipes in then. "I don't know, he is pretty good at acting. You guys should have seen him over there on Earth two impersonating himself, kissing Iris-"

"He will know, Allen!" Harry yells, cutting Cisco off. "If Thawn figures out who you are, the timeline will be altered, people could die, and everything you screw up, only you will know. No one else."

Barry folds his hands. "Actually, about that...I was thinking that Raven could come with me?"

My jaw drops as I turn to him, giving him a look that I've never felt on my face before. "You want me to come with you to screw up the timeline? Barry-"

"You really are insane," Harry scoffs, crossing his arms. "But do whatever, it's not my time line for you to screw up."

Harry walks out of the room, leaving the rest of us to make the decision, but we all knew that Barry was set on doing this. The room is silent for a moment before Cisco turns back to Barry. "Why in the world do you want to bring Raven?"

"She's a speedster and she's not from here, so she couldn't mess anything up with herself. Plus, if Wells finds out that I'm not who I say I am, he won't know about her. She could easily swoop in and be the-"

"I already told you, I'm not a hero!" I spit, tired of hearing that word. "Listen, Barry, this idea is stupidly crazy. There's no way in hell it will work..."

I fade off as I look back to Barry, seeing a look on his face I hated seeing. It wasn't exactly sadness, but it was more of despair, and I hated it. I hate it and I hate him.

I sigh. "But it's worth a try, especially if it will help you get faster."

Barry looks up then, a half smile on his face. He was grateful, I could tell. "So are we doing this?"

I nod, regretting my answer. "We're doing it."

I'm screwed.

"Stop right there!" I hear an officer scream at me as I run down the stairs, holding onto the bag in my hand as tight as I could. If I dropped it, there would be no point to what all of this was for.

You see, I wanted to try things on my own for a change. Jay's had me come on different heists with him here and there, but I was always the side kick, and I hated being the side kick. I wanted to try things on my own for a change and show him that I could do it by myself. It was a lot harder than I thought, since I managed to trigger the lasers that were in front of the diamonds that I was after, causing the alarm to go off, which was why I was now running from three police officers.

If I would have thought things through a little bit better, this would have gone as planned. I forgot that I hadn't refueled on Jay's speed ability until after I triggered the alarm, because when I went to run away, I basically face planted from the slowness. So now here I was, running at the speed of a normal 16 year old girl, wishing that I knew how to drive.

My feet work fast, but not fast enough, as I leap off the bottom step of the stairway, pushing the door open before bolting through the lobby. Flashlight beams bobbed across the walls in front of me as I focused on the main door, wanting to get the hell out of here. Maybe when I reached the streets I would lose the officers easier...hopefully, at least.

However, when I pushed the doors open and was about to jog down the steps to reach the street, I was met with a surprise that I hadn't expected. When I caught sight of the street, all I saw were at least eight cop cars flashing their lights at me, the officers that belonged to each of them pointing a gun at me.

It took me by surprise alright, but I wasn't giving up then. I was going to prove to Jay that I could do this, and these police officers weren't going to ruin that. I might have lost my speed ability, but I didn't lose my anti-gravity.

My eyes narrow into slits as I focus on a single gun in the officer's hand, specifically an officer that I've seen on TV multiple times...he's always claiming that one day he'll catch Zoom, but we all knew he was wrong. I picture the gun rising into the air then in my mind, and it does. It was after that I looked around and saw that everyone else's guns were flying into the air as well, utter confusion written across all of their faces.

I grin before clutching the bag of diamonds in my hand, turning and running to my left. I have to jump off a concrete wall and through a few bushes before I'm on the street, running for dear life. I couldn't help but smile to myself at what I did; I knew Jay would be proud.

Suddenly though, just when I went to turn the corner, positive that no officers were behind me, something wraps around my foot. I scream as I topple to the concrete below, scraping my knee and my hand from the impact. The bag in my hand flies open, the diamonds I had collected dancing across the side-walk like a beautiful tragedy.

I grunt as I look over my shoulder at my ankle, finding a piece of metal wrapped around it. There was a green light that was beeping right where the two pieces met, but I didn't know what the hell it was. When I reached up and tried to rip it off, it stayed pressed together tightly around my ankle. What the hell?

"Damn, you're young," I hear a male voice say, causing my eyes to flick up. Anger fills my body then, seeing no one other than Doctor Wells standing in front of me. I really was in trouble now. "I must admit, you did pretty good. You almost made it."

I don't say anything as I focus on him, picturing his body flying into the tree to my right, but nothing happens. I grunt out of frustration. This was supposed to work; it always worked!

"What in the hell is this!" I scream, kicking my ankle down. I tried banging it against the concrete, hoping that it would suddenly break off, but it was hard as stone.

I noticed then that Wells was holding some type of gun, but I wasn't sure what type it was. "Something I've been working on for people like you. Figured I should level the playing field."

I wanted to use everything within me to end him, but I couldn't. I was vulnerable, and I knew that no one could save me now. Not even Jay. "What are you going to do with me?"

"Take you to the police, where you belong." He starts to walk towards me then, holding up a needle filled with a substance unknown to me. I figured that it was something to knock me out, but no way in hell was I going to let him inject me with that. No way.

"What is that!" I scream, scooting away from him as fast as I could. I couldn't get myself to get on my feet. "Listen, please, just let me go and you won't ever see me again. Okay? Please-"

Just when he raised his arm to inject me, something I couldn't explain happened. Suddenly, the needle was dissolving into thin air as Wells looked at it with wide eyes, not sure what was going on. That was when I looked down at my ankle and saw the metal doing the same thing; just evaporating into the air around us.

I grin as Wells screams, knowing that he was the one that was screwed now. The moment the ankle bracelet is gone, I get up onto my feet and do the very thing I had pictured earlier in my mind. Wells goes flying into the nearby tree before collapsing to the ground, motionless. He wasn't dead, but I wanted him to be. I'll let him go this time.

I hear movement behind me then, causing me to turn and see a familiar face. It was the same lady I had seen so long ago back at home...Dust Storm I think was her name.

"What do you think you're doing?" she asks me, her eyes cold. "Does Zoom-"

"No, he doesn't know," I breathe, shaking my head. "Please, don't tell him."

She raises an eyebrow as her hair blows in the wind, peaceful yet mysterious. "What's in it for me?"

"Just take the diamonds, I don't want them," I say, looking back down at them. They were scattered across the side-walk now, but still all the beautiful. "Just please, don't tell him."

She smirks then, nodding her head. "Deal."

I sigh a breath of relief. "Thank you."

I watch her closely as she picks up the diamonds, shoving them back into the bag before standing back up. "Listen, kid. I know you're new at this, but take more precautions and definitely watch out for that guy over there. You hear me?"

I nod my head as she points over towards Wells. "Y-Yes."

She goes to walk away then, but just before she does, she tells me one more thing. "Oh, and if I were you, I'd get a costume...and I would change my appearance. Who knows who saw you tonight and might remember your face. Rookie mistake."

I look down at my hair then, knowing that she was right. I'll have to dye it or cut it or something. "Thanks."

"I'll see you around," she smiles faintly before disappearing in the wind, just like how she did the last time I had seen her. I wasn't sure what it was, but something about her had me mesmerized. I admired how mysterious and clever she was, and I wanted to be like that. As a kid, I always looked up to the hero's in Central City, but I never stopped to think about the villains.

They're a hell of a lot cooler.

Told you guys Dust Storm would come back! Also notice that Raven is 16 now in the flash backs, just so you don't get confused. Those other three years were just of Jay teaching her and the classic heists, so I wanted to skip over some of that. Her flashbacks should be getting extra good now!

Also, are you guys liking this story? I never can tell anymore. I love to write it, but sometimes I get a lot of votes, sometimes I don't, and I rarely get any comments. What's happening there?

Ah well, please leave a vote and comment guys, it mean a lot!
