43. Black Siren

And after that simple apology between Jay and I, everything was back to normal. It was nice to get back on track with things, but something else in my gut told me that it wouldn't last for much longer. However, it wasn't like everything was back to normal, since now Killer Frost was technically Jay's henchman, but I told myself I could tolerate it. Besides, like I said earlier, this was an even better Hell for her.

I haven't seen a trace of her since that night though, but I wasn't worried. I knew that when the time came when we needed her, Jay would have it under control. Besides, you can't run or hide from a speedster, that much I knew. Plus, you'd have to be plain stupid to try and get away from someone like Zoom.

But for now, things were back to normal. And by normal, I mean running away from the scene of the crime, after stealing from the Central City Museum.

To get back in the groove of things, Jay and I thought we'd do a simple robbery mission. We didn't really need the pieces of art that we stole, or the jewelry, but of course, it was fun. I enjoyed the thrill of it all; plus, it meant that my name would be back on the news yet again.

Jay decided to snag the art pieces while I took care of the jewelry, so that's why I was on the run back to home base. Somehow the two of us got split up back there, but I didn't care all that much. The cops did show up, but it wasn't like they could catch a speedster, and I knew that they wouldn't even try to catch Zoom. Anyone that has tried to do that has found a hand through their chest, so rarely did anyone attempt to do that anymore.

So here I was now, dashing down Main Street with a pocket of pearl and ruby necklaces, making my way towards home. The lights and cars fly by me as I dash along, my feet working on their own. It was almost like I didn't have to focus anymore when it came to running; it was just a natural thing that I did on instinct.

However, just before I turn the corner to head towards an ally, I hear a loud sound before I'm being knocked off of my feet. My legs twirl up over my head as I'm thrusted to my left, my body hitting the ground before rolling a few times. I feel cuts and scrapes form on my arms and legs, even my cheek, but before I stopped rolling, I could already feel them starting to heal.

For a moment I pause, dazed as to what even happened, but then I'm quickly on my feet, looking around for my attacker. It takes me a moment to pinpoint the direction it came from, but when I did, I wasn't met with something I was expecting. I was waiting to see some sort of meta wanting to go up against Silver Trickster, but instead, I saw what appeared to be a girl the same age as me, if not a little older. She wasn't standing as if she wanted to fight, but instead she looked scared.

I hold my ground as I bite my tongue, wondering what was going on here. It was then I notice a man lying on the ground in front of me, between her and I. The girls' eyes are wide as she takes a few steps backwards, starting to run away.

"What the hell," the guy on the pavement below moans, not yet noticing me. At this point, I was looking down at him, but just as soon as I look back up at the girl down the ally, I see three other men come out of the dark and grab her, throwing her to the ground.

Usually I didn't care about things like this; I just went on and let people do what they wanted. But something about this time made me stop and watch, and it made me wonder if I should interfere. I mean, technically, I was already involved since I was knocked off my feet by something I was unaware of, and at this point, I was curious to stick around and find out what that something was.

The three men utter nasty things as one of them grabs her wrists, pinning her to the ground. Her dirty blonde hair whips around as she struggles to get free, but she wasn't strong enough. It was then I saw one of the other men pull out a knife, and that's when I acted on instinct.

I use my speed to dash down the dark ally and snag the knife from the man's hand, along with throwing him and the other two men into the wall. Two of them fall to the ground in a heap, but one other manages to stay conscious as he looks around, curious to know what force just changed the game.

I stop in front of him then as I look down, his knife in my right hand. He looks me up and down, terror on his face. "Y-You're the speedster that works with Zoom, S-Silver Trickster-"

"The one and only," I state simply before I glance down at the knife in my hand. "Oh, I think this belongs to you."

I half grin before I plunge the knife into his leg, hearing his scream echo down the ally, but it blended in with all of the other sounds of Central City. A simple tear falls down his cheek as he breathes heavily, trying to stop the bleeding by wrapping his hands around the entry wound. He tries to say something, but I don't stick around to hear it, because when I looked back over to see if the girl was okay, she was gone.

My eyes focus at the end of the ally, catching a quick glimpse of her turning the corner. My legs work fast as I flash out of the ally and stop directly in front of her, shock and panic on her face. "I just saved your life, and you thank me by running away?"

She opens her mouth to say something, but instead, her words form into a scream. I was taken off guard in that moment, because with her scream came the same force that knocked me on my ass not too long ago, and the next thing I knew, I was lying in the middle of the sidewalk once again.

I look up at her in marvel, seeing her standing there with utter fear on her face, but I didn't know why. "Now that's a talent."

"What do you want with me?" she begs, taking a few steps back. "I know who you are, and I don't-"

"Well at first I was here to help a girl out," I start as I slowly stand, my bones aching a little after being thrown around twice now. "But now, I'm starting to wonder if there's something else I could use you for."

In my mind, I was thinking about how terrified I had been when I first had met Jay. I didn't know what I was capable of, and I didn't know how to control my powers. After he took me in, things weren't as bad. Standing here now in front of her, it reminded me of that, purely because I could tell by the look on her face that she was scared, but not of me; of herself.

"Use me for?" she asks, almost scoffing.

I shake my head. "Let me start over. First, who were those men back there?"

She opens up to me quicker than I had thought she would. "I don't know. I was just walking down the ally when they came up to me, and I screamed for someone to help me, and then all of a sudden..."

"You were the one who knocked me off my feet," I finish for her, nodding my head slowly. "I'm guessing you didn't know you could do that until just now?"

"No, and I don't understand-" she stops herself then, her hand going to her throat as she shakes her head. "What happened to me?"

"That part is a long story, but what I can tell you is that I can help you." I pause for a moment, wondering what I was doing exactly, but then I continue. "I have powers too, like you. They may not be the same type of powers, but I can help you control them and learn more about them."

"I can't believe Silver Trickster is actually offering to help me. What makes you think I would trust you?" she says, shaking her head. Something about her tone made me know that she knew I was a villain, one of the worst of them here in Central City. I don't say anything as I let her think for a moment.

"I don't have anywhere else to go..." she fades out, looking curious yet hesitant. "I ran away from home, which is also a long story. But..are you sure you can help me?"

"I know I can," I state simply, knowing how much Jay was going to kill me for this. "What's your name?"

"Laurel," she states, nodding her head. "Laurel Lance."

Present

"Damn that girl packs a big punch in that scream," Cisco says as Caitlin patches up Barry. For a little while there, it looked like Black Siren was going to beat Barry, but that was before Wally managed to swoop in and save the day, and by save the day, I mean hit the bitch with his car.

Barry's eyes scan the room before pausing on Cisco, yelling. "What? I can't hear you!"

"I said you got your ass kicked!" Cisco shouts back, emphasizing the letters so that Barry could understand. However, Barry just shakes his head in confusion, causing Cisco to yell even louder. "What I said was-"

"Cisco!" Caitlin squeals, her eyes firm as she looks back at him. Cisco cuts short and leans back up against the desk before taking another bite of his licorice, playing it cool. Barry still looks confused as to what he said, but it didn't matter.

Some time goes by before Caitlin finishes up, grabbing her supplies and quickly leaving the room the moment she was done. Cisco and Barry sort of watch her for a moment before getting back onto the task at hand, but we made sure to wait to talk about it until Barry could actually hear again.

"You said you knew her before, right?" Cisco asks me, pointing at me with his licorice in hand. "Please explain further."

I take a deep breath. "Long story short, I found uh, Laurel, back on my earth and helped her learn how to use her powers. Hunter and I basically created her; she was nothing when I first found her. As time went on, she adopted the name Black Siren and we grew to be good friends. Then that changed, but that part doesn't matter."

Barry stands up out of his chair. "You're the one who taught her how to do that? Damn..."

"I taught her how to be a villain I suppose," I fade out, remembering it all. "She already possessed the talent, I just helped her use it."

Cisco jumps back into the conversation. "So you're telling me that your Laurel on your earth was raised up under Zoom and you? Dear God, have mercy on our souls..."

"She's good," I nod my head, my spit thickening. "She's kicked my ass a few times, but the good thing here is that I know her weaknesses and her strengths, and that will help us take her down."

"Yeah, but the only problem is that we can't have you out there helping," Cisco sighs. "According to Zoom, you're either dead or dying, remember?"

"I don't have to be out there to help," I cross my arms, my eyes flashing between Cisco and Barry. "And if I have to be, I guess that's one up we can afford to lose. We can't keep letting her tear down these buildings, guys. She's distracting us from the task at hand. And I know her better than anyone; if this keeps progressing, it will only get worse. Trust me on that."

Barry's eyes connect with mine as he nods his head, knowing that I was right. "Well then I guess next time we see each other, her ass is going to be the one getting kicked."

Cisco sighs. "Let's hope so."
