"Whatever the answer is, it won't change anything between us"
CRACK
Cracking sound was unavoidable when a man in his white-silk shirt suddenly tightened his grip on his tea cup as soon as he heard Soomin's red-tinted lips said those words.
Muttering faint curses, the person who had been enjoying his tea time then placed the cracked cup on the table carefully before cleaning up their stained long sleeve with his beloved flowery napkin.
"Namjoon's game is too strong on this one, isn't it?"
Poking the inside of his left cheek with his tongue, Seokjin who was in the middle of folding the used napkin averted his eyes to the entrance of his room. He bitterly greeted the uninvited visitor with a smile which clearly bore dissatisfaction with it.
"Good afternoon Jungkook."
Shuddering at the tense look of his companion, Jungkook carefully plopped himself down on the comfy couch beside a bad-mood Seokjin and snapped. "Stop smiling like that, it's creepy."
Expecting no further response from the older man, the ignorant Jungkook started to swipe the tea table in front of him with his witty eyes. He then shamelessly shoved a handful of ginger cookies into his watering mouth.
Loud, crunchy sounds followed by cookie crumbs flying out from the younger, busy mouth were clearly inevitable when Jungkook messily devoured the cookies while noisily talking about how tired he was these days.
This uncivilized manner definitely made Seokjin's blood boil even more and nearly caused the older man to crack his new cup of tea for the second time that day. Inhale... exhale... my precious, lovely teacup does not deserve to be destroyed over this kind of animalistic attitude, he thought as he caressed the cup gently, as if it were a living newborn baby.
"Mind telling me why you're here exactly? If you're bored, go find Taehyung."
Biting the inside of his cheek, Jungkook wiped his mouth and shrugged his shoulders as if he were sulking. "As if he has time for me."
Seokjin chuckled as he witnessed the rare sight of a needy Jungkook. "Missing your little friend quite a bit, aren't you?"
"Meh..."
Minutes had passed in silence between the men. Both of them were lost in their own thoughts, enveloped in the relaxing scent of mint tea and the lingering aroma of ginger cookies in the chilled room.
"That girl, her level of self-control and logical thinking is quite impressive. Even your smooth matchmaking moves couldn't penetrate her thick skull. Namjoon really spent some time on her, didn't he?" Jungkook asked, his eyes fixed on an empty space.
Seokjin furrowed his eyebrows slightly. "Isn't that obvious?"
So, he's quite upset about it, Jungkook thought as he tried to hold back his chuckle by biting the lower part of his lip with his front bunny teeth. "If you are that bothered, then why don't you ask him to loosen up a bit?"
"Why don't you?" Seokjin asked, his eyes full of expectation. His pride was too high to stoop to such a lame thing, especially with Namjoon. And Jungkook was very well aware of this fact.
"Why should I?" the younger one replied, thoughtlessly chomping on the last piece of the remaining cookies before licking his finger in satisfaction. In contrast to the careless man beside him, Seokjin failed to hide his disappointment. "But I thought-"
"You know, an intellectual woman with good self-respect and a high level of dignity is always be a candy to my eyes. So, why should I do something that could turn my sweet candy into a bland bubblegum that would stick to someone's shoes when it gets stomped on?" Jungkook lamely asked. "Plus, Taehyung would definitely be displeased if I stuck my nose into his baby sister's love life, since this kind of thing isn't even listed in my job description."
Clapping a few times to remove the remaining cookie crumbs from his hands, Jungkook stood up and wiggled his leg to let some of the crumbs that had stained his jeans fall lifelessly onto the artificial fur carpet beneath him. "Well, I need to go. Thanks for the tea break."
Eyes twitched countless times due to the upset feeling that slowly erupted inside him. Seokjin gritted his teeth as he sarcastically snapped, "Glad that I was able to satisfy your gormandizer need, my dearest fellow."
Jungkook laughed. Victory was visible on his face as the thought of him easily annoying the great Kim Seokjin filled his off-guard mind. Yet, it didn't last long until Seokjin said something that made Jungkook halt on his way out.
"Ah, I just remembered that a couple of weeks ago, I caught a glimpse of her eagerly running after someone who strangely resembled you. It couldn't have been you, right? I mean, you wouldn't do something so reckless as to clumsily reveal yourself in front of her, especially when she strongly suspects that you know the answer to her dead brother's mystery. Taehyung would definitely be displeased if-"
"Fine! fine! I'll tell Namjoon-"
"Tell me what?"
Both Seokjin and Jungkook jolted when the said man suddenly appeared at the entrance, looking at them with a pair of curious flickering eyes. Jungkook smirked as he noticed that the intimidating Seokjin instantly became jittery when the charismatic Namjoon stepped into the room.
Jungkook faked a cough and glanced at the restless Seokjin before bluntly blurting out Seokjin's previous request in his own unique way of speaking. "Seokjin asked me to convey his personal advice for you to experience the delightful pleasure of intimacy, so that your insensitivity towards romantic affairs would be lessened a bit."
"Did you just ask him to tell me to get laid?" Namjoon averted his unreadable gaze from smirking Jungkook to the shocked Seokjin, who was now shooting invisible daggers at the youngest with his wide-opened eyes.
"No, that's - Yah Jeon Jungkook! Come back here you punk!"
The youngest flinched while skipping out of the room when Seokjin's furious and desperate shouts called his name. He was already a meter away from Seokjin's room, but he could still hear Namjoon's demanding voice asking for further details of what Jungkook had recklessly said before.
"Good luck with your hopeless love game, Cupid," he said lowly as he tried his best not to hysterically laugh while cheekily leaving the place.
Meanwhile, far from the chaotic situation above the sky, Soomin, who was silently sitting in the driver's seat of her car, rested her head on the steering wheel for a while after parking the car at a random bar on her way back home. "Oh, my head," she muttered.
She lifted her chin to observe the lively and fancy place presented in front of her eyes. She lazily grabbed her sling bag and dragged herself into the bar. "Just go to this bar, and you'll have your thirsty lips and tired brain fully satisfied. Trust me," she thought, remembering the words given by one of her colleagues about the place. She walked in with a bored expression, hoping she wouldn't regret wasting her money on this place.
She went directly to an unoccupied high stool right after the not-so-busy bartender. She smiled as she ordered her drink for the night. "Lemon drop martini, please."
"Nice choice to start off a long night," the bartender kindly said as he gracefully mixed the liquors. "Planning to have only one or two glasses before midnight. I need it for a good sleep. It's been quite a rough day," she said, scrunching her pointy nose.
"Then hope this special mixed martini would light your mood a bit."
She smiled at the sparkling glass and murmured a sincere thank you to the bartender.
One glass.
Second glass.
Third gl-
"How many glass you planned to chug up before you pass out?"
Soomin furrowed her brow as her third glass was snatched away by a hand that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. "What the fu-" she stopped.
She blinked. She took a breath. She blinked again. She took another breath.
Her eyes squinted as she tried to confirm her own vision of the sight of a man standing beside her. His face was red. His breath reeked of alcohol. His grip on Soomin's third martini glass was loose and a bit shaky. This man was undoubtedly tipsy, and one more strong glass of alcohol would definitely knock him out in no time.
Tried to figure out why he was deserted at the very same place, same time, and same depressed vibe as her, Soomin, who was far from drunk or even tipsy, snatched back her glass. "So, now you are stalking me?"
Lamely passing an empty shot glass to the bartender, Yoongi lowly asked for another shot of whiskey. "Don't think of yourself too highly," he said, his eyes locked onto his now-filled glass.
As if being toned down a few octaves, Soomin found that his voice was deeper and huskier than the one he had when he was sober. Somehow, the change made him sound manlier than ever. Clearing her throat, she pulled herself together by downing her remaining martini in one gulp, which elicited a shocked gasp from the oblivious bartender.
"if I deserve it, then why not?"
Laughing at the cocky attitude she gave him, Yoongi closed the gap between them by pulling himself closer to her. He lightly brushed his cold lips against Soomin's earlobe as he whispered, "Sassy." Soomin choked on her breath and instinctively recoiled, grabbing her now-red ear in shock.
"What if I did indeed stalk you?" he bluntly said, his eyes darting aimlessly, completely ignoring the speechless woman beside him.
"Ah, did you give me a leaked glass? Why the whiskey is gone?" He asked the bartender while clumsily checked the bottom of his empty glass.
"I thought it's time for your friend to put his glass away," said the bartender.
Defeated, Soomin sighed. A flashback of her dragging his drunken state back to his house came to her mind, and the unpleasant memory made her groan in displeasure. "I ain't gonna do that again. Should I just call 911? Oh wait..."
"Give me your phone, I'll call Hoseok or Jimin to come get you," she said.
"Am I a toddler?" he asked, his forehead knitted as he gave a demanding look to the bartender, asking for another shot.
"You're drunk. Just give me the phone Yoongi."
"Ah, could you do that again? It feels good when my name slips away from your sassy lips."
"Okay, that's enough." Soomin stood up and started to grip both sides of his jeans.
"Hey hey...Watch your hands, lady."
Soomin groaned when Yoongi chuckled at the fact that she had almost groped his forbidden part while trying to fish out the phone from his jeans. She heaved a relieved sigh when she finally got the phone out. However, it was locked....
"What's the password?" She asked impatiently.
Yoongi hummed "I wonder what..."
Oh it's gonna be a very long night.
