"Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free."

The gentle light of the full moon, shining on the starry sky, was nicely giving off a warm and relaxing vibe on the cold and nerve-wracking night. Calmly trailing the car that rolled before her, she silently took her time to savor the mellow atmosphere of the road, which during the daylight was usually packed with cars and pedestrians.

Not too long after, the leading car slowed down and pulled over at some random coffee shop right before the main road. She obediently followed by parking her car next to it. Looking thoroughly at the well-designed exterior of the tiny place, that somehow looked so homey from inside her car, she gave her approval of his not-so-bad taste by nodding lightly.

Mesmerized by the colorful little lamps placed around the entrance as decoration, she was lost in her own thoughts until a knock from the outside made her flinch. She barely breathed as she saw his face up close, almost pressed against the other side of the window, signaling for her to follow him inside.

That was unnecessary.  She thought as she grabbed her bag before leaving her car and stepping into the coffee shop where Yoongi went. The interior wasn't bad at all; in fact, it was oddly beautiful. The little touches here and there in the not-so-spacious shop immediately impressed her in no time.

"Cool place."

The words weakly slipped out of her lips, yet were still audible enough to be heard by the person standing next to her. He smiled and led her to one of the unoccupied tables. Yoongi then offered to take their order. Even though he was sure enough of what she would have, he was still asking her coffee preference politely.

"I'll take Espresso."

He frowned at her unexpected choice but nodded immediately when Soomin looked back at him, confirming that he got the words. Minutes had passed, and she noticed that Yoongi was engaged in a friendly conversation while waiting for their orders with a guy who was sitting near the counter.

Once
Twice
Thrice

No matter how many times she tried to busy herself by checking her phone, she kept glancing over at the guy Yoongi was talking to. There was something about him that made her want to spend the whole night just staring at him and admiring his perfectly sculpted face. God obviously spent time on him, she thought.

"Handsome, isn't he?"

She flinched as a sudden, crisp voice interrupted her thoughts. Trying to act cool, she simply hummed while positioning herself to face the guy who was quietly taking the seat across her. It was almost covered by the sound of music played at the shop, but she definitely could hear him chuckled while sipping his macchiato.

"You like the place?"

Soomin nodded lightly while staring at the pitch black coffee served on a white little cup in front of her, she cleared her throat.

"Spill it out," she said flatly. Yoongi frowned at that, unable to comprehend the meaning behind her words. She slowly focused her full attention on him and smiled at his lack of response.

"You have something to say, don't you?" she asked.

"Don't you want to enjoy the coffee first?" he replied calmly, despite the fact that she had touched on the main point.

"Why don't we do both? It's less awkward to talk while you still have coffee to save you from uncomfortable conversation."

Nodding in agreement with her comment, he couldn't agree more with the fact she had mentioned. "How are you?" he calmly started.

"Fine, never been better," she replied while lightly stirring her coffee. "And it goes the same for you, I guess?" she continued.

"..Yes"

Soomin looked up from her coffee to see his face, catching a hint of uncertainty in his voice. What's wrong? Don't you already live your dream? That was what she wanted to say, but she shrugged it off and averted her eyes to the night scenery displayed through the window next to her chair. "Good to know," she said.

"Mind if we talk about... the past?" More hints of uncertainty appeared as he delivered his thought. His nervousness was so visible as he unconsciously kept fiddling with his fingers under the table.

"Sure. Be my guest."

Her unwavering voice made Yoongi shrink into his chair, as if her calmness slowly consumed his courage to open the Pandora's box. He lost the words he had planned to say.

The sharp yet faint sound of the clock ticking on the wall behind them made the silent atmosphere increasingly awkward for both of them. Soomin was waiting for him to speak, but Yoongi struggled to find the right words to start the conversation.

After taking a deep breath, he finally talked.

"Thank you for the letter."

Soomin flinched, as she did not expect him to bring up that topic as a conversation starter.

"The best way to deliver my unspoken chaotic thoughts to you," she said, while scrunching her nose as every cringe-worthy word she had written suddenly flashed into her mind. He smiled at her, finding her cute expression endearing.

"I did a horrible mistake to you, didn't I?"

The silence returned. Yoongi mentally prepared himself for the worst-case scenario, but it never came. It never did. On the contrary, a soft and warm voice slipped from her thin lips.

"If making me fall deeply for you is a mistake, then yes, you've made a horrible one."
