Chapter 17

"What's happening? Can someone enlighten me?" Moira's father asked.

Nagsisimula namang magkagulo sa pagitan namin, ng mga Dankworth's, at ng mga royals. All can't believe what's happening. Kahit ako ay nagulat sa sinabi ni Moira. I wasn't really expecting she'll say that and how she made up her find to come up with decision was fucked up.

"No..." I muttered.

"Is this even serious?" the King questioned. "Danworth's?"

Moira's father looked so confused and somehow embarrassed to face the king. "I actually don't have any idea, your highness."

"I'm not joking," Moira said and all our eyes falls on her.

I just hope she stops stalking or it will be the end of my career as a Silver Knight. Hindi ko rin malingon ng maayos ang mga kasamahan ko dahil panigurado'y binabato nila ako ngayon ng mga mapanuring tingin. I have actually mentioned it to them before pero hindi ko na ikinuwento pa kung anong meron sa amin ni Moira. And now that they found out about it, wala na talaga akong kawala.

But it's already eight months ago, kinalimutan na namin ang isa't isa kaya hindi ko maintindihan kung anong pumasok ngayon sa isip ni Moira at inilaglag niya ako sa harap ng mga matataas na opisyal sa aming harapan. She could've picked Brody or Duncan or Ryle, even Cameron is an option there pero bakit ako pa ang pinili niya?

Is it just because we have a past at mas madali iyon para sa kanya? How about on my part?

"Mister Langdon, how will you explain this?" My Command Chief ask.

Bigla akong na-blanko ng mahagip ng tingin ko ang mga kasamahan niya. They were all looking at me, waiting for an answer pero hindi ko sigurado kung tama ba ang mga salitang bibitawan ko. Pansin ko ring nag-aabang lang din ng sagot ko si Moira. I don't know if she meant this to happen. Kung siya ay may pagkakataon pa siyang gawing maayos ang buhay niy matapos niyang dalhin ang Silver Knights sa misyong ito pero sa ginagawa niya ngayon, I felt attacked. She's trying to manipulate the situation to her cause.

"Mister Langdon?" pag-ulit nitong pagtawan sa akin.

At wala rin naman akong nagawa kung hindi sabihin na rin ang katotohan. I can't run away from it kung papanindigan ni Moira ang statement niya. Tumango ako at hindi ako tumingin sa mga mata nila. I only meet my Chief's eye.

"Yes, Sir Chief. She's speaking the truth," I stated. "We have a past relationship but it didn't take long, Sir."

I can feel the heavy breaths and disappointments from my mate but I know that this isn't a big deal. If Moira picks me to be her husband and if we already have a past relationship, that's her reason to choose me and maybe the others tend to feel betrayed because they don't have any idea about it.

I look at the Dankworth's and somehow their face plastered all sort of confusion.

"Is this your final pick, Miss Moira?" the King asked her which the scene came out irrelevant to him. "Would you like to take this man to be your husband?"

She look at him. And she nod to make a response. "Yes, Your Highness, I'm picking Nathan Langdon to be my husband... that's what my parents wants me to do so I have no choice."

And then she looked at me, smiling like nothing to worry about.

"Then this should be all fine," the King announced. "Whatever they may have in the past, I don't think it's shocking, honestly. If they met before, that's a good thing because they've already built something before so in this moment they shall continue what was left. And I'm happy for this two, I hope I will be invited at the wedding," he laughs like Santa Claus holding his belly.

The Dankworth's laughed that made them feel relieved for the moment. Maybe, they are also happy with Moira's decision. If they just knew what happened to us before, they wouldn't like to hear the whole story.

"I think this is wrong," Cameron steps in and all our eyes shifted to him.

"Hey, Cam. What are you doing?" Brody asked, hinawakan pa ni Brody si Cameron sa braso pero hinawi nito papalayo.

Parang alam ko na rin kung saan pupunta ito. I know he wanted to make a scene but I hope hindi makakasama itong ginagawa niya. He's a good person, hindi ko lang alam kung anong nagtutulak kay Cameron para gawin ang mga bagay na ganito. I've known him since I entered the Knights and he wasn't the kind of person who keep secrets from us and be mad like what we're seeing to him now.

Maybe he just really want this. Unlucky for him, he wasn't picked. Hindi rin naman sa lahat ng pagkakataon, all will be fair in his end but then people always do a way to raise their worth. Cameron is doing the opposite thing now.

"What are you saying Mister Cameron?" the Chief asked him.

"I would just like to tell everyone here that Nate knew that Moira's around the area we're searching for. We don't know for how long he found her pero itinago niya sa amin 'yon. He didn't even nudge to tell us about it. Magaling na itinago ni Nate 'yon sa amin and I think he really did that work great pero para saan? Bakit kailangan niyang ilihim na nahanap na pala niya si Moira habang kami ay patuloy na nagpapakapagod sa paghahanap sa kanya? See what's happening here? Moira picked Nathan now because they already have an existing agreement," ngisi pa nito.

"No, we don't have!" sagot ko. "I'm not even expecting to be chose, Cameron. I know you guys already knew about that."

"But you still lied to us." Cameron smirked.

"But you also lied to us, Cameron," sabi ni Brody.

The King sighs. "So, is this true Mister Langdon?"

"Yes..." direkta kong sagot sa hari.

"May I, You Highness?" pagtaas ni Moira ng kamay niya bilang pagrespecto at pinahintulutan naman siyang magsalita ng hari. "Nathan didn't do it for himself. I asked him not to tell everyone because I wanted a peaceful life. I don't want to carry the burden of my family business so I tried to run away but I guess that won't work anymore. 'Wag niyong sisihin si Nathan dito. He only do it for me and no, we don't have an existing agreement because I never knew about this marriage reward. So I guess, everyone understood... can we all go now?"

"Does anyone have complains?" the King asked and no one answered. "Silver Knights except Nathan Langdon can go back to your cabin now. Command Chief you'll stay as we will talk about something and Dankworth's thank you for your time and you can talk to Nathan Langdon now as you wished."

Then the Silver Knights left the throne room. Hindi ko na sila nakausap pa dahil mukhang wala sa wisyo ang lahat. Biglang bumuhos ang kaguluhan, walang gustong sumalo kaya ng umapaw, kailangan merong gumawa ng paraan and I think Moira did that for me.

And I don't know what will happen next but I'm still not quite sure if I'm going to be remained one of the Silver Knights or now to my new role of Moira Dankworth's husband.
