Bri Kinda Sorta Apologizes

Being a light sleeper was a given when you regularly slept where you weren't allowed nor wanted. So getting smacked in the face by anything after sleeping on prison floor for less than four hours was bound to snap Silver awake. He jolted, grabbing at his chest for what was thrown as it fell to his lap. He glanced up, seeing two pale blue eyes peering through the wall slot at him. "Did you just throw bread at me?"

Bri walked around to the front of his cell and leaned against the bars. "I'm going to guess you didn't eat before you left the sewers last night?"

"Uh, you would be correct." He pushed himself up and picked apart the bread loaf. The cell door squeaked open and he felt the sleeping bag rustle as Bri sat down next to him. "So did anyone see you come here?" he asked, holding out a broken off piece of bread to her. "Might be a bit suspicious to see a returning Wandering Coin just enter the jail by themselves."

"I made sure I wasn't seen. I know how to avoid detection." Even with the rest of the jail sound asleep and no chance of anyone coming down to their level, she kept the Fred mask on. Even though, if one of the prisoners saw, who were they gonna tell?

"Oh do you now?" he teased.

"Yup, learned from the best." She bumped his shoulder with hers, sending light shivers up his arm.

"Now you're acting like one of us."

They fell into a comfortable silence, with Silver wordlessly insisting that she share the bread despite her already having eaten. It was toasted a golden brown on the outside and was the size of Fred, plenty for both of them. Training for the games meant eating a lot, he claimed.

"Hey F12! You want some?" The sleeping prisoner didn't even twitch. Soft snores echoed back at them and Silver just shrugged. "More for me and her then."

"You know he'll get food later right? We don't starve our prisoners."

"It's for holding down the fort while I was gone. Off fighting dark guilds and making you the best costume." He tapped her mask at its mention. His hand briefly brushed against her cheek as he pulled away, strands of her hair tickling him. Despite the cold dense air filling the jail, her skin was warm to the touch like his. Silver's outfit did breathe well, keeping him from overheating, but he couldn't help but want to cuddle up to her and share the warmth.

"Sooooo, you'll go back to the sewers now?" Bri asked, pulling him out of his thoughts. "You know you'll have to train your actual members for the Games at some point." Several implications with that went unsaid.

"I didn't plan on staying away for too long. Besides Fred says the future hasn't changed."

She raised an eyebrow. "The what?"

"The future where he saw us married." He didn't smirk, only smiled. Like he was revealing a secret he kept from everyone else.

Bri rolled her eyes, but couldn't hide the hint of a smile on her face. Her braids fell over he shoulders, fanning her face, and Silver resisted the urge to poke her cheek. "Slow it down there bud, we're not even together."

"Suuuure, keep telling yourself that, love."
