Willow's death

Biana's POV:

"What were you thinking, Biana?! That Tam and you would live happily ever after forever? Forget it! He has Glimmer to care about, not you. He likes Glimmer....not you..."I was in my room, quietly sulking to myself while hugging Mr Sparky.

"But then again...I'm bound to be with my 'soulmate'. Whatever stupid hullaboo Willow said. This soulmate thing is ruining my life! I can't even be with who I want..."I grumbled.

"Oh, so you're all so grouchy now, huh? And you're blaming me?"A familiar voice boomed.

I didn't turn around,"Leave me alone mum, I'm having some-wait, I wasn't blaming you."

I turned around.

Oh snap.

Willow was glaring at me, she was giving me the 'so you have chosen death face' and I gulped.

"W-Willow? W-What are you d-doing here?"

"Come with me, girl. And I'll show you the consequences of talking behind Willow Heral's back."Willow snarled.

My face turned white.

I was going to die.

"Seriously, Willow, what are you doing-OW!! My ear!"I whisper-shouted.

Willow turned my ear even harder, and I winced, "What do you mean, 'am I doing here?' Why can't I be here? "

"Uh....coz you're dead? You can't touch me! Besides, you only appear in my dreams! Also, how come no one hasn't come barging into my room already? You're way too loud!"I said, wringing myself out of Willow's reach.

"Hah! Say's who? I only do that because I'm lazy! Besides....I am your soulmate mentor!"

My eyebrow rose," What soulmate mentor? You never said anything about that!"

Willow stared at me,"Didn't I mention that? Well, fine! I hate long conversations....but because of the terms and conditions of soulmate mentor rule number #1051, I have to!"

She immediately sat down, and the thought struck me that she was dead, she couldn't get through solid things, but I waved the thought off quickly, who knew what sort of rant she would start if I asked her.

"All growing soulmates have their mentors, who were past soulmates. Most of the mentors who are most likely dead have to guide their growing soulmates-"

"You realize what you're saying now is 'most' right? Does that mean that there are some soulmate mentors that are alive? If so, can I meet them?"I asked eagerly.

"Yes, yes, NO. You are NOT going to meet up with the mentors who are living. Besides, it would be almost impossible for you to find them. They love to keep to themselves. Not that I would blame them, I would have done the same if...I was still living."Willow said, her expression darkening.

At that moment, I had no idea what stupid idea hit me, probably a hammer that wanted to get me beaten up, but I asked,"I-I know this is a touchy subject, but...how exactly did you die?"

"I told you, I died while trying to save my soulmate."Willow said, though her voice was softer.

"....Yeah, but...how? And don't tell me you died while trying to save your soulmate again,"I glared at her when she opened her mouth,"I-If you are my mentor, I need to know. I thought that people should always learn from past mistakes."

Wow, I really wanted a death wish right?

Willow scowled so deeply, it almost seemed like the room had darkened, but still, she thought for a while, before sighing, but still scowling and said,"To be honest, if you were there and just saw it, you would think that my soulmate murdered me."

My jaw dropped so low it was practically touching the floor, "Your soulmate what-?"

Willow's eyes looked down to the floor," He killed me."

"B-But you said he grieved f-for you-"

"He did grieve for me. Right after he killed me."

Willow paused for a moment before continuing, "He entered the 'Unstoppable state.' Otherwise known as the state where most soulmates who enter that mode lose themselves. Luckily, not more than 20 have gone into that state."

"So he...entered that state and...killed you?"I whispered.

Willow nodded grimly.

"But how could you allow that?  If I remember correctly, you told me you were a psionipath, couldn't you just shield him? Unless...he was more powerful than you."

"You really don't have ears, do you? I told you more times than I have pulled my soulmate's ear, that I. DIED. BECAUSE. I. HAD. TO. SAVE. HIM. When are you ever going to get that into your brain?"Willow growled.

"And...we're back to square one, right? You know, I wonder, why can't I just look at your memories? Won't that be easier? "I asked.

Willow brightened,"What a stupid but otherwise good idea! I'm so happy I thought of that!"

"Er...I think I-"

"Don't worry, it won't hurt, I'm not as good as my soulmate for this, but I'm sure it'll be fine."Willow said, she clasped her hands with mine and a searing pain went through my head.

So much for fine...I thought as I was swept into her memories.

~Flashback(in Willow's POV)~

"What a joke, you defeat us? Looks like the councillors guards are failing terribly." Hoyt snarled.

"Shut up."I hissed.

"Hmm....team leader, aren't you? Haven't you learned your lesson already? Hmm....looks like you haven't... Well then, let me say it out for you, '30 guards killed after-"

"You heard her. Get. lost."

I didn't need to look over to my side, I already knew that James was standing beside me.

"Ah~ The two soulmates, how are you James? Tired of being the weaker one? "Hoyt smirked.

"I'm not weak."James growled.

"Oh, really? Then-AARRGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!"Hoyt screamed, his hands clutched over is head.

James had decided to use his ability.

Hoyt collapsed to his knees for a minute, and I thought that it would be over, but he just smirked as cackled,"What, you think little old me would be defeated by you? I honestly thought you were better at researching. Should I spell it out? I'm a telepath too, idiots."

I braced myself, and placed a shield around everyone.

But not before Hoyt managed to penetrate through James's mind.

James groaned, and Hoyt laughed,"Well well, have a tricky past, eh? Let's escalate that."

"No...mum....don't..."James whispered.

"James! Don't listen! You've gotten over that!"I said desperately, things were turning from bad to worse.

But it didn't work, and James was not listening.

It was like he couldn't gain control of himself, James

And that was when James broke.

His eyes, his beautiful blue and purple eyes shone with rage, and he broke out of my shield like it was nothing, throwing Hoyt to the ground, and Hoyt landed on the ground so hard, the ground collapsed.

James snarled, he raised is hand and all of us, the team, including me was on the ground, our heads bursting with pain.

My mind was spinning, how? What had happened? Who was this person?

But all I knew for certain was that if I didn't stop James right then and there, he was going to tear the whole place down.

"James, don't."I said, as calmly as I could.

He didn't even bat an eye.

The pain in my brain was increasing tenfold, but I wasn't gong to give up.

"James, don't-"

"POW!"

I felt pain, and I slumped to my feet, with James looking down angrily at me after punching me in the guts with a ten pound boulder strength "I won't fight with you James....please stop, you'll end up hurting everyone...."I got up, trying to reason with him.

My mind was filled with thoughts, how was I supposed to do make him come back?

I winced and got up, trying to look at him at the same time as trying to come up with an idea.

Unless...he needed to come to his senses.

"James, listen to me,"I said, as I managed to dodge his attack, "You'd better stop now, get back to your senses, you idiot!"

"SHING!!"

I felt an unmeasurable amount of pain, it felt like billions of knives had plunged into me and I looked down.

Just as I had expected.

James's hand had pierced through my heart.

But the results had worked.

His eyes were slowly returning back to normal, the rage from his eyes dimming.

I coughed out blood, and sank to my knees.

"Willow!"James shouted.

He reached my side, but by that time, it was already too late.

My heart had stopped pumping.

I couldn't hear Jame's pleas and cries, but I managed to say something, barely a whisper, but at the look on his face, I knew James had heard it.

"Shut up you idiot. And do your job like I did."

And that was when the lights dimmed forever.

~End of Flashback~

Biana's POV:

"You-you really said that?"I asked, "You said that as your last words?"

"What, should I have said, "Hey James I love you, time for smoochy smoochy time?!"? Of course not, we were the councillors bodyguards, we put our lives at stake for our jobs before anything else.

I looked at Willow's body, noticing that she really did have the body shape of a bodyguard, fit, but not as fit as goblins or ogres.

"Another thing, elves could be bodyguards?! And telepaths were that powerful? Also, what happened to the guy called Hoot?"I asked in disbelief.

Willow sighed," It's Hoyt! To answer your last question, my soulmate managed to capture him and thrown him in Exile, he probably is rotting away. And yes, telepaths were this powerful. Does that mean you guys are weak now? And to your first question....councillors did have elvin bodyguards, though that stopped after I was killed."

"Wow, the elvin system is seriously messed up."I breathed.

Willow shrugged,"Hey, don't blame me, I don't live in your crappy modern world."

We stood in silence, and she stood up to leave.

But I grabbed her arm, something still bothered me.

"Wait, but just one last thing. Does that mean if we look at our past memories, the soulmates will enter the 'Unstoppable state'? "

"Nope, to be honest, I never really found out what triggered that state. It could be anything, really. Now, I've got to leave, can't be late  for the match. I'm not going to lose!"Willow said, releasing her wrist from my grasp.

I nodded grimly, that information did not comfort me.

As Willow faded away, she suddenly spoke,"Do you know what I'm trying to teach you now? I really don't want all this memory sharing to be a waste."

I scrunched my eyebrows, I still had a lesson to learn? But all we did was look at a memory.

I thought for a moment, before coming to my senses, she had said this all along.

Was she trying to protect me? I wouldn't know.

Did I agree? Not much, not at all.

But it was what had caused her death, and I was trying to not make the same mistakes as her.

Might as well just say it out, I mean, it had already caused enough problems for me, and it didn't look like Willow wasn't going to stop chasing me until I had accepted it.

I looked up just to see her face disappear and I took a deep breath and said it.

"Don't play hero."
