Earth

  Lainey was currently picking at the food, she had gotten that morning. She really hasn't been able to eat anything for the past month. The guilt was eating her alive.

Her finger nails were bitten down to the skin, her palms had scars from her scratching at them, and the bags under her eyes were so big they could probably carry herself in them.

Three guards walk in the her cell. " Prisoner 311, face the wall." Lainey obeys, last time she asked questions the guard got annoyed and hit her. " Hold you arm out." One of the guards commands. She did as she was told, Lainey felt a pressure on her wrist then a pinch causing her to wince and yank her arm back. Fighting the urge to punch him, she looks at her wrist to see what caused the small pain and notices a bulky, and heavy bracelet.

" What is this?" She asked one of the guards but they ignored her. The guards lead Lainey out of the cell and into the hallway. She looks over the rail to see all of the delinquents getting taken out of the room.

" we're all going to get floated." She says to herself. The guards push her ahead. "Walk." Accepting her fate, she was the one that stole now she deals with the consequences. she picks her feet up and continues down the hall. The guards not far behind her.

  She follows the guards the rest of the way but to her surprise they lead her to a drop ship. The one her dad had been working on. 'did he know?' he wouldn't do this would he' Lainey thought before asking the guards another question" What's going on?" She asked the guard that was holding her arm.

" Get in line." The same guard demands then walks to stand with the other guards. All the delinquents were getting confused. The lines getting shorter and shorter, soon she was standing in the door of the drop ship.

   " Pick a seat and strap up." The guard standing by the door ordered. Though Lainey get annoyed at this, why wouldn't they just tell her what was going on, she deserved to know if these were her last moments. "Not until you tell me what's going on." Lainey said with her hands on her hips.

    " Lainey just sit down." Tyler told his best friend. She gasped and turned around, she hasn't seen him since the day they got arrested. She runs up to him and hugs him tight, tight enough to where he couldn't breathe but he didn't care he missed his best friend.

  The sweet hug was cut short by one of the guards. "Hate to interrupt the moment but you have to sit down and buckle up." ' At least he was nice about it.'
She thought to herself.

Both teenagers climb up the ladder to the second floor to sit down and buckle up. Tyler sat next to an unconscious blonde, Lainey sat beside him and on the other side of her was a crying brunette girl.

" Are you okay." Lainey asked the poor girl as she finished strapping in. The brunette sniffled and laughed a little. " Yeah I'm just a cry baby, but thank you for asking...." She trailed off waiting for Lainey to say her name. " Lainey, what's your name?" She said and put out her hand for the girl to shake, but before the girl could say anything the drop ship jerked and a screen came on with Jaha's face on it.

    "Prisoners of The Ark, hear me now. You've been given a second chance, and as your Chancellor, it is my hope that you see this as not just a chance for you."

   "Yeah right he just wants to save himself" Lainey leaned over to Tyler and said earning a laugh from the boy beside her. How could they send children down to the ground as lab rats and sleep well at night?

    " but a chance for all of us, indeed for mankind itself. We have no idea what is waiting for you down there."

" Then why send us down there?" Tyler says what most of the 100 were thinking, why them? Why now?

"If the odds of survival were better, we would've sent others. Frankly, we're sending you because your crimes have you made you expendable."

  " Your dad's a dick wells." A kid across from Lainey yelled causing most kids laugh and agree. Wells?what'd he do to get here? He was the one Lainey would never believe would be on this drop ship.

" If, however, you do survive, those crimes will be forgiven, your records wiped clean." He's really gonna forgive murderers..... rapists. Lainey couldn't help but think to herself. A shiver ran down her spine. A realization crossed her mind, she was with a mix of rapists, murderers, and other criminals.

"The drop site has been chosen carefully. Before the last war, Mount Weather was a military base built within a mountain. It was to be stocked with enough non perishables to sustain 300 people for up to two years. No one ever made it there."  

   " Well that sounds very promising." Lainey joked causing some of the delinquents around her to laugh. "Because we spare you no food, or water, or medicine, I cannot stress strongly enough, that Mount Weather is life." Well that sucks, Lainey thought.

  Quiet chatter fills the drop ship until one of the delinquents yells " and the spacewalk bandit strikes again." Everyone looks over to see a boy flying in the air and start cheering him on.

  Finn floats in front of Lainey, the brunette girl, Tyler, Clarke, and Wells. He stops infront of Wells. " Your dad floated me after all." Causing everyone to cheer louder. " You should strap in before the parachutes deploy." Wells replied. Lainey couldn't help but admit Wells was right, from what her dad had told her this was going to be a bumpy ride.

Two other teens start to follow Finn out of their seats." Hey, you two say in your seats if you want to live." Clarke told them but they don't listen and continue to float around. Lainey shook her head at their stupidity, she knew they were just having fun but she couldn't help it.

  "You must locate those supplies immediately." Chancellor Jaha's voice was heard in the background.

  Finn turned his head towards Clarke. " Hey, your the traitor that has been in solitary for a year." This causes Clarke to roll her eyes and snap back." And you're the idiot who wasted a month of oxygen on an illegal spacewalk."

  Finn just smirks. " But it was fun. I'm Finn."

Jaha's voice was still heard in the background. " Your only responsibility is to stay alive." The drop ship jerks causing Finn and the other two kids to slam onto the floor.

  " Finn! Are you okay?" Lainey yells. He gives her a weak thumbs up, causing her to chuckle. But she quickly got cut off as the drop ship began shaking roughly. Her heart began to race against her ribs and echoing in her ears. "Tyler I have to tell you something, just in case we die!" She yells over the rest of the delinquents shouting.

    " We're not gonna die Laine!" Tyler reply's back just as loud. Lainey rolled her eyes and clutched his hand.

    " Just shut up and let me talk, I'm sorry, I got you arrested you tried to tell me no but I didn't listen!"

  " Lainey it's not your fault stop blaming yourself, it my fault I should've done more to stop us!"

  A huge crash rocks the ship making the kids jerk, but then silence. " Listen, no machine hum." A boy said from the other side of the drop ship. " Whoa, that's a first." A boy with goggles on his head said from beside him. There was always a machine hum on the ark no matter where you went, without it Lainey found that it was calming and peaceful. Lainey sighed of relief, resting her head back against her seat.

  Their buckle's came undone causing everyone to get up and go down the ladder that was in the middle of the room. Clarke, Finn, Tyler, and Lainey ran to the two guys that followed Finn out of their seats. " Finn, is he breathing!" Clarke asks him, he just shakes his head. Finn looks down and shakes his head. Kaia notices this and puts her hand on his shoulder. " It's not your fault Finn, it was their choice to follow you." She says trying to comfort the boy.

  " Thank you....." He trails off waiting for her to say her name. " Lainey." He smiles. " Finn." He holds out his hand for her to shake, and she does with a chuckle.

  Lainey stands up and walks to Tyler who was beside the ladder. " Shall we." Tyler says with a smirk on his face. " We shall." She replied causing both of them to chuckle a little. " Ladies first." Lainey joked pointing towards the ladder.

   Lainey and Tyler make their way down the ladder. "Hey, just back it up, guys." The guy by the large door said. He was dresses in a guards uniform, and gel held his hair down. He looks a little older than the rest of them.

'what's a guard doing down here?' ' maybe the ark sent him to keep everyone in line.' ' but why would they only send one.' A million thoughts run through Lainey's head.

  Clarke pushed passed Lainey bumping their shoulders."Stop. The air could be toxic." She told the guy by the door. He rolled his eyes and replies. " If the air is toxic, we're all dead, anyway." The guy did have a point. Before Clarke could reply a girl coming down the ladder interrupts them. "Bellamy?" She makes her way through the crowd, and ups towards Bellamy. "God, look how big you are." He says with a smile.

  Lainey shifts from one foot to the other wanting to see the earth already, but shes not gonna say anything because, If someone interrupted her and Tyler reunion then there'd be more than just two bodies. Right on cue, Clarke interrupts them.
" Where's your wristband." Lainey elbows her 

  " Can't you see they're having a reunion." Lainey's eyes roll with annoyance, causing Bellamy and the girl to nod their heads in thanks.

  The girls head turns towards Clarke. " Do you mind, I haven't seen my brother in a year." The girls says causing gasps all around the drop ship. Welp no one saw that coming. Lainey looked over at Tyler who just shrugged.

" No one has a brother." A boy yells. "That's
Octavia Blake, the girl they found hidden under the floor." Another person yells causing Octavia to lunge at them but Bellamy holds her back.

"Octavia, Octavia, no. Let's give them something else to remember you by." He says with a smirk. Lainey couldn't help but admire the guy, he was very attractive.

    " Oh yeah, like what." She says slightly sarcastic. "Like being the first person on the ground in 100 years." He replies causing his sisters face to hold a smirk too.

  Lainey couldn't help but smile at the siblings. She doesn't have a blood brother but Tyler is close enough to a brother. Bellamy walks towards the lever, he looks back at Octavia and she nods her head as a go ahead.

   The wide door opens causing a bright light to shine through. All of the delinquents to put their hand up to block the light. When their eyes adjust to the light, Octavia slowly makes her way down the ramp that the door made.

Lainey's mouth fell agape as she looked at the moss covered trees, it was honestly the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen. She took a deep breath, breathing in the sweet air. It was beyond anything she'd never smelt before.

   When Octavia got to the bottom, she looked up and took a deep breath. She then jumps off the end, throws her arms in the air and yells. " We're back bitches!!" Everyone cheers and runs down the ramp.
Lainey turns towards Tyler. " Happy birthday to us." She says and takes off after everyone else.
