☆ That Night ☆

Vivian should have expected this, she really should have. 7 years of friendship and she still wasn't expecting Stiles and Tara to show up at her door excited to go search for a dead body.

Tara and Vivian were supposed to be having a sleepover at this time. Just the two of them but Tara had been running late like usual. Vivian was waiting on her couch and her mom had just left for a night shift. She was just watching West Wing (which Tara absolutely refuses to watch with her) when she heard a knock on her door. She opened it to find Tara and Stiles vibrating with excitement. Stiles immediately started talking. "My dad left thirty minutes ago. I heard him on the phone-"

"Two joggers found a body." Tara said interrupting Stiles as if she couldn't hold back.

"They're bringing in every officer from Beacon Hills, even the state troopers." Stiles continued. Vivian took a minute to take in what she was seeing. It was 12:00 and Stiles jeep was parked in the driveway, she could see Scott in the front seat who was probably as reluctant as her to go on this adventure. Stiles and Tara were both out of breath even though they drove here. Even though Vivian didn't want to get pulled in she could tell Tara and Stiles had more they wanted to say.

"They already found the body. Why are they bringing in more people?" Vivian asked after a minute.

"That's the best part." Stiles said before getting interrupted by Tara.

"It was cut in half!"

"You two are way too into this." Vivian said with a small laugh.

"Vivian, come on. Scott already said yes." Stiles said giving his best version of puppy dog eyes. Vivian could already see how this was going to go and she'd rather be there than sitting at home alone on her couch.

"You went to him before me?" Vivian joked. "And I thought you loved me."

"His house was closer." Tara responded.

"Sure." Vivian said with a knowing look. Stiles and Tara were still looking at her for an answer. "I'll go. Are we bringing Mikayla too?"

"Little Ms. Sunshine and Rainbows. No, this is not an adventure for her." Stiles said while Vivian grabbed a jacket and locked her door.

"But it is for Mr. Asthma over there." Vivian said as they all walked to Stile's jeep.

"Hey!" Tara said in Scott's defense.

"Sorry, I'm just saying it seems like we're leaving her out on purpose." Vivian said as they got to the car. Always the mom friend.

"The less people the better." Stiles said hopping into the front seat. Vivian still didn't think that was an acceptable answer but she learned long ago not to reason with Stiles. She got into the back with Tara since Scott was already in the other front seat, and she was too tired to argue.

"So how'd they bribe you to do this?"

⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒

When they made it to the woods there was already a chain and a sign saying "Beacon Hills Preserve. No Entry After Dark". But a little sign has never stopped them. They all got out of the car, Stiles and Tara with flashlights.

"We're seriously doing this?" Scott asked just before they entered the woods.

"You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town." Stiles responded.

"I don't think he meant murder when he said that." Vivian said.

"Hurry up you two." Tara said. Her and Stiles were already a good few feet ahead of Scott and Vivian. Vivian and Scott made eye contact before both sighing and walking slightly faster.

"I wanted to get a good nights sleep before practice tomorrow." Scott says.

"Yeah cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort." Vivian said already ahead of Scott.

"No, because I'm playing this year. Tara and I have been practicing."

"Yeah he's gotten really good. Good enough for first line." Tara said slowing down a bit for Scott to catch up.

"Hey, that's the spirit. Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one." Stiles said adding on to what Vivian said.

"You're no better Stiles." Vivian said. She was now right next to Stiles who gave her a look.

"The difference is I know that I'll always be a bench warmer." Stiles said getting a scoff from Vivian.

"Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?" Scott asked from the back with Tara next to him.

"I don't actually know? Stiles?" Tara said looking at Stiles expectantly.

"Huh? I didn't even think about that." Stiles said back.

"What if the killers still out here?" Vivian asked not liking how dark it was outside.

"Didn't think about that either." Stiles said starting to climb a small hill.

"You mean he might still be out here?" Tara said jumping after she heard a small sound from deep in the forest.

"It's comforting to know you planned this out with your usual attention to detail." Scott said slightly breathless. He rested his back against a tree. At the same time Tara pulled out an inhaler from her pocket and handed it to him.

"You owe me a nice salad, like one from Dominos." Vivian said as Stiles and her continued to climb the hill not noticing that Tara and Scott had stopped, in their own little world.

"Is that a date Gasko?" Stiles asked smirking back at her.

"In your dreams Stilinski." Vivian responded. Stiles gave her a lingering look but then noticed the flashlights at the top of the hill and pulled Vivian down to hide behind a bush. Tara and Scott joined them a moment later.

"Let's hope John can get us out of this if we get caught." Tara said before jumping up and running a different direction from the lights.

"I've asked you to stop calling him John for 7 years." Stiles says following her.

"She calls all adults by their first names." Vivian said sprinting to catch up.

"Guys!" Scott whisper yelled. He was running behind and his asthma was starting to act up. He kept yelling their names. Tara started to slow down and looked to see how far back Scott was. She then ran right into Stiles and Vivian who had stopped dead in their tracks by the search dogs who were barking and jumping onto them. They all fell to the ground and backed away from the dogs.

They dogs kept barking for a minute before Sheriff Stilinski caught sight of his son with his friends. "Wait! Wait! These three delinquents are with me too."

"Too?" Tara asked

Sheriff Stilinski sighed and grabbed a shadowed figure from behind another officer. The three who were still on the ground and looked up to see a sheepish looking Sydney. Vivian sat frozen for a minute. Vivian hadn't really seen much of Sydney since the beginning of Freshman Year. After the party. Vivian quickly snapped out of it and got up not missing how Sydney winced when her dad grabbed her shoulder. The other two got up wiping the dirt off of themselves.

"I caught this one a few minutes ago before we heard your voices. She was hiding behind a tree, on the ground." Sheriff said. "I thought you said you came alone."

"Trust me she's not with us." Vivian said looking at the Sheriff making it a point not to look at Sydney.

"Yeah, Stiles must have followed me." Sydney said pulling her arm from her dad's hand, sheepishness turning into annoyance.

"Followed you? No way you followed me." Stiles said ready to start an argument before his dad interrupted.

"So do you two both listen to all my calls?" He asked

"Not the boring ones." Sydney and Stiles said at the same time.

"Tara, you usually know where Scott is. Is he with you guys?" Sheriff asked shining his flashlight behind them. Tara just stood there too nervous to respond.

"He's at home asleep. Which is what I'd like to be doing right now." Vivian said stepping forward.

The Sheriff sighed before yelling Scott's name a few times and shining his flashlight back there again. After a few minutes he gave up and looked at the four kids and grabbed his two children knowing Tara and Vivian would follow. Before they got too far away Tara glanced back and still couldn't see Scott, which worried her.

"Well you four I'm going to walk you back to your car and we're going to have a conversation about something called invasion of privacy."

The walk was short and before the Sheriff sent them on there way he made all four of them promise to stay in his house for the rest of the night which was what Vivian was planning on doing anyway. After a serious pinky promise from Tara he believed them and made Sydney ride with them. Seeming to not notice the obvious tension between the four.

Vivian was sitting in the front seat with Stiles while Sydney and Tara were sitting in the back. Stiles and Tara silently agreed those were the calmest pairings. Vivian could see Sydney looking at her from the corner of her eye. Sydney was holding the shoulder her dad had grabbed, trying to play it off. After a few minutes Vivian sighed and broke the tense silence. "Just drive me to my house Stiles. I don't want my mom to worry too much."

Vivian didn't have to ask if Tara would come too, already knowing the answer. Still Tara nodded her head. She was unusually silent, she hated disappointing adults. Stiles sighed before turning towards Vivian. "You sure?"

Vivian nodded. Stiles sighed again but he couldn't say no to Vivian. The rest of the way Vivian kept noticing how Sydney was shielding her shoulder from view. Even though Vivian had sworn to pretend Sydney didn't exist she was still concerned for her old friend. They finally made it to Vivian's house.

"Thanks Stiles." Vivian said with a soft smile before turning towards Sydney who was just staring out the window. Vivian then turned back to Stiles trying to ignore that sinking feeling she always felt when she saw Sydney this past year. "Get some rest."

She walked into her house and saw Tara was already picking at her skin. She usually did this when something went wrong on one of their adventures, and a lot went wrong on this one. They lost Scott, got caught, and ran into Sydney. Vivian walked over to Tara.

"He'll be fine." She said taking Tara's hand away from her arm.

"Are we sure. What if he loses his inhaler? Or the murderer finds him?" Tara rambles avoiding Vivian's eyes and starting to pick at her skin again.

"Scott won't exert himself enough to need the inhaler if he loses it. Also there are about 100 cops in the woods. The murder should be long gone by now. Scott will be fine." Vivian said forcing Tara to look at her.

"You're right."

"I usually am." Vivian said making Tara smile. "We should go to bed. First day of school's tomorrow."

"Okay.. But if Scott texts you'll let me know?" Tara still seemed hesitant but she allowed Vivian to lead her to the guest room. (Which had basically turned into Tara's)

"Of course." Vivian said as they stepped into the blue room. Tara walked to her bed and laid down not even changing her clothes just taking off her shoes. Vivian leaned against her dresser and kept reassuring Tara and just making a bit of small talk before Tara finally fell asleep.

Vivian turned off her lights and then did so with the rest of the house. She was a little restless with not knowing where Scott was. Also with having to see Sydney again. Sydney who distanced herself from the group and started to hang with Lydia's crew. Vivian eventually made it to her own room and just laid in bed staring at the ceiling.

Her phone started ringing around 3. She knew who it was without even having to check. "Hey Stiles."

"Sup V." Stiles said back.

"Any particular reason you decided to call me at 3 in the morning." Vivian asked teasing Stiles.

"In my defense I thought you'd be asleep by now. The whole time we were in the woods you kept complaining about how you wish you were in bed." Stiles said back. Vivian heard some shuffling on the other end and could tell he hadn't been able to sleep either.

"That was before you lost Scott in the woods. Took me till 2 to get Tara to finally fall asleep." Vivian said.

"Oh right. He's fine. Texted me like an hour ago." Stiles casually stated. So what could be keeping him up? Vivian let this thought linger.

"And you didn't think to tell us?" Vivian asked slightly annoyed.

"Hey, I thought he would've told you." Stiles defended.

"He probably assumed we'd be at your house." Vivian said. After that it fell into a comfortable silence. Vivian had almost fell asleep before Stiles started talking again.

"Why'd you want to go home anyway?" It was so quiet Vivian almost didn't hear it.

"Seeing Sydney just messed with me. Wanted to be in my own house." There was a second of silence before Vivian continued in the same quiet tone. "How is she."

"She rushed to the bathroom the minute we got home. Otherwise the same selfish mean girl she's always been. Probably texted Lydia to complain about us." Stiles whispered, they had fallen into this quiet conversation. He also answered her previous question, Sydney was keeping him up. He was worried, it was sweet.

"Yeah." Vivian took a deep sigh before speaking again. "'M gonna try and get some sleep."

"Night gorgeous." Stiles said making Vivian laugh softly.

"Night Stiles."

⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒

Vivian woke up to Tara looming over her bed. She jumped when she opened her eyes. After informing Tara that Scott had texted and said he was fine Tara seemed to chill out a bit. After they were both ready they waited until Stiles drove by to pick them up. They got there 20 minutes early so Scott could tell them about something. When he met up with them they learned something Stiles forgot to mention.

Scott lifted up his shirt and showed a bloody bandage and Tara immediately started panicking. She and Stiles both reached to touch it only being stopped by Vivian who grabbed their arms and Scott who flinched back slightly.

"Let's not touch the bleeding wound." Vivian said as Scott puled his shirt down

"Are you okay? Does it hurt? Is it infected? Did you see a doctor?" Tara said not giving Scott a chance to answer.

"Tare give him a minute." Vivian said.

"Yeah Craze." Scott teased using a nickname only he was allowed to use. It was from back when they were kids and Tara memorized Scott's whole schedule. It kind of stuck and always made Tara blush.

"What was it?" Stiles asked.

"It was to dark to see much, but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf." Scott said grabbing his bag and starting to walk the other three following.

"A wolf bit you?" Stiles asked with skepticism while Tara almost yelled it with concern.

"Uh-huh."

"Don't worry Tare, there's no a chance a wolf bit him." Vivian said.

"I heard a wolf howling." Scott said.

"No you didn't." Vivian said

"What do you mean I didn't. How do you know what I heard?" Scott asked amused.

"Because California doesn't have wolves okay. Right Stiles?" Vivian said crossing her arms and stopping in front of Scott and Tara with Stiles right next to her.

"Yeah not in like 60 years." Stiles said backing her up.

"Really?" Tara asked

"Yes, really." Vivian said. "There are no wolves in California."

"Alright. If you didn't believe me about the wolf, then you're definitely not going to believe me when I tell you I found the body." Scott said.

"No shit." Vivian said

"Really!" Tara said the excitement from last night coming back.

"You- are you kidding me?" Stiles said excitement also coming back.

"No, I wish I'm going to have nightmares for a month." Scott said.

"Oh, that is freakin' awesome." Stiles said trying to calm his excitement. "I mean this is seriously going to be the best thing to happen to this town since-"

Just then Mikayla Martin walked up with her sister Lydia and Sydney. Mikayla immediately ran over to the four and hugged them all causing Scott to wince. While Lydia and Sydney walked pasted completely ignoring them.

"Oh I'm sorry, are you okay?" Mikayla asked before getting distracted and looking at Vivian. "I got you that coffee you asked for."

"You are a life saver Mikayla." Vivian said grabbing the cup and taking a huge sip. Mikayla was a year younger than them so they aren't as close as they could be. They met her last year and have been closer over the past year. She's like a breath of fresh air and she has a massive crush on Stiles, and Vivian is 89% sure Stiles likes her back. She couldn't be more wrong.

"So what are we talking about?" Mikayla asked looking between the four.

"Murder!" Tara replied confusing Mikayla.

"Why are we so excited about murder?" Mikayla asked tilting her head like a puppy.

"We aren't. Stiles dragged us out of bed last night to look for this body and Scott claims to have found it after we were caught." Vivian explained taking another sip.

"Where was my invitation?" Mikayla asked deflating slightly.

"He probably didn't want to risk you getting killed. I think your his favorite." Vivian said joking winking at Mikayla before walking into the school.

"I'm sorry I didn't check to see if the killer was still out there." Stiles said following her. "How many times do I have to say that."

"Stiles can you show me where my first period is?" Mikayla asked the pep back in her step.

She walked with the other two into the school leaving Tara and Scott outside. Tara looked over at Scott concern still in her eyes.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"I promise." Scott said holding out his pinky.

"Okay." Tara said taking a deep breath linking their pinky's and looking at the school.

"After you, M' lady." Scott said trying to lighten the mood. He swept his unoccupied arm toward the school, making Tara giggle.

"Why thank you, M' lord." Tara said starting to walk into school hesitantly releasing his pinky as she walked slightly ahead of him. Scott felt a little sad when he felt their pinky's break apart.

Vivian shared her first period with Stiles and Scott. Sadly Tara got stuck in another class and Mikayla was a grade below them. Scott sat next to her while Stiles was behind her. The teacher was talking about the murder and Vivian, already knowing about most of it, was tuning it out and looking out the window. She noticed some brunette girl searching through her bag. She didn't recognize her which was weird since she knew most of the teens in Beacon Hills.

Before she could read too much into it Stiles decided to distract her. "What's with you today? You're usually a sucker for a syllabus."

"Maybe a certain boy dragged me out of my house and kept me up past 3." Vivian said back no real heat in her words glancing down at the paper in front of her.

"Think about how proud your mom will be to hear you found a dead body." Stiles said back leaning forward so he was almost right next to her.

"Scott found the body." Vivian said looking out the window again only to see the girl was gone. "And for the record my mom would kill you for taking her innocent girls out to find a dead body."

She turned back to Stiles looking at him realizing they had almost not space between their faces, she was too distracted by the door opening to notice Stiles's blush. The Vice Principal walked in with that same girl from outside. She looked nervous and normal enough. Vivian didn't really take any interest turning back to where Stiles was only to see he had leant back into his seat.

"Class, this is our new student, Allison Argent." The Vice Principal said standing at the front of the class. "Please do your best to make her feel welcome."

Vivian glanced over at her giving her a polite smile and then looked over at Scott on her right who was following Allison with his eyes, like he was fascinated by her. Vivian looked away after she sat down and tried to focus on her syllabus and hoped that Scott's little fascination was short lived because no matter how much Tara would deny it, she was still in love with Scott and this would break her.

She was brought out of her thoughts by Scott tapping on her shoulder.

"Can I borrow a pen?"

⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒

Vivian was grateful when the bell rang. She immediately went to her locker with Stiles and Scott following her. Tara met up with them a moment later. When she got there all three of them were watching Allison with interest.

"Who's that?" Tara asked.

"Just the new girl. Looks pretty basic." Vivian said trying to reassure Tara before she realizes how entranced Scott was with her. But sadly Stiles decided to be the worst amount of oblivious.

"Scott doesn't seem to think she basic." Stiles teased making Tara look over at Scott who was staring at Allison, hard.

"It's nothing." Vivian said giving Stiles a sharp look. Luckily Mikayla came over just in time to distract them.

"High school is so cool." She said right off the bat. "I get to see you guys all the time, and did you see how many art classes they have!"

She kept rambling to Stiles who listened and nodded while Tara went right back to staring at Scott, who was still staring at Allison. Vivian decided to look back over at Allison who was now talking to Lydia. A few moments later she was joined by Jackson. Vivian decided to stop watching after that and turn back to her locker.

In the back of her mind she wondered where Sydney. Since the beginning of Freshman Year Sydney and Lydia were rarely seen apart.

"And here I though the new girl wouldn't be corrupted." Vivian said trying to take her mind off Sydney, which is where it's been since she saw her last night. That also made Mikayla stop focusing on Stiles and instead on her sister. Her smile got bigger (If that was possible) and she said goodbye and quickly made her way over to Lydia, Allison, and Jackson. Lydia just glanced at her but otherwise ignored her.

Vivian rolled her eyes and then turned to Tara and made Tara look away from Scott. "He's just not use to new girls. He'll get over it. Boys are stupid."

Then the bell rang.

⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒

Sydney, Mikayla, Lydia, and Allison all made it to tryouts right before it started. Sydney didn't understand why they brought Allison but as long she didn't talk to much it was fine. Mikayla usually stayed quiet and watched Stiles on the bench, which was cute. She'd never understand how someone could have a crush on her brother but Mikayla was still young and clueless.

Sydney looked over and saw her brother in his usual place, the bench. Next to him was Vivian as always. She was reading a book and looked so beautiful it was unfair. Vivian never paid attention to tryouts or practices. Sydney only every paid attention to Vivian. Sydney hated her.

Stiles then started to talk to Vivian and said something that made her let out a soft smile. Sydney felt rage grow inside her. Anytime Stiles made Vivian smile Sydney would feel a pang of jealousy. She usually ignored it.

"He made a whole dramatic speech about how he's always on the bench." A voice near Sydney said. It made her look around because it sounded exactly like her brother who was on the other side of the field.

"He is usually on the bench." Vivian's voice said this time. Sydney looked across the field and then had the realization that she could hear what Stiles and Vivian were saying. That shouldn't be possible. Sydney had suspected that her hearing may have gotten better after she was able to heard the whole phone call Stiles had with Vivian last night, but she just thought that was because they had thin walls. How could some random animal bite she got in the woods cause this.

"He's in goal." Tara said joining them clipboard in hand and distracting Sydney once again.

"So?" Vivian asked in her stupid pretty voice.

"Coach didn't discuss this with me." Tara said panic obvious in her voice. Sydney looked over at Scott who had just taken his place in goal. They're going to kill him. Sydney was brought back to reality when Allison started talking.

"Who's he?" She asked pointing over at Scott.

"Him? I don't know." Lydia said.

"That's Scott McCall." Mikayla said a smile never leaving her face. "I'm friends with him."

"Oh right. Weren't you friends with him, and his whole... group." Lydia said with a certain tone looking over at Sydney. Sydney could see in Lydia's eyes that she was secretly proud she'd remembered a fact about Sydney's life.

"Um, he is like best friends with my brother. That's why I talked to them." Sydney said quickly. She heard a scoff and saw it was Scott. As if he was listening to them, he was also looking over at them. Sydney narrowed her eyes but she couldn't be suspicious for long because a second later Tara, hesitantly, blew the whistler starting tryouts.

Sydney only saw Scott grab his ears before she had to do the same. It felt like Tara was right next to her. It hurt and Sydney couldn't focus. The pain faded away a few seconds after the whistle ended. Sydney looked up again to see Scott on the floor.

"Hey, way to catch with your face McCall." Ryan said. Sydney was filled with the usual anger that came when someone made fun of Scott or Stiles, but she could usually keep it at bay. This time she couldn't

"Shut up! You don't get to say shit with your playing." Sydney yelled standing up and startling everyone. She never yelled like that, she just stayed quiet and tried to keep her eyes from wondering to Vivian. It never worked. But this time she just couldn't help herself. She had to yell and defend Scott. She just couldn't control her anger this time.

She sat back down and tried to ignore the beautiful brown eyes watching her from across the field. She focused back on the field. After Scott back up the next player went, Sydney couldn't focus too much on this because her ears when back to the three across the field.

"I can't watch." Tara said as the next player started running.

"You have some frozen peas at your house? Looks like he'll need them." Stiles said next as the player threw the ball.

"Holy shit." Vivian said when Scott caught the ball. It surprised everyone, even Scott himself.

"Yes!" Tara said her voice raising slightly, making Vivian laugh slightly. Sydney couldn't help looking over at them. She hated Vivian's smile.

The next few players went and Scott caught every ball. Sydney watched while listening to the groups comments across the field. It made her miss the old days. Before the party. She was pulled out of this pattern by Allison.

"He seems like he's pretty good."

"Yeah, very good." Lydia said at a loss for words. That seemed to boost Scott's ego even though he shouldn't be able to hear him.

"He isn't usually this good." Sydney said not taking her eyes off the field.

Jackson wasn't taking best to the attention being shared so he cut and was going next. Sydney looked over at Mikayla who didn't look too excited. Mikayla had been silent this whole time. She was just watching the field like she'd watch Stiles. Sydney couldn't blame her, it was beautiful playing. For once. Vivian decided to draw back her attention.

"Everything really has to be about him." Vivian said. She had hated Jackson since she met him. Didn't help when the first thing he did was make fun of Tara. Vivian always defended Tara. If it wasn't for Vivian, Tara would probably get picked on a lot more.

"Asshole." Tara said. Which was new, she didn't swear as much as Vivian but she also wasn't new to it.

Jackson finally went. He ran and jumped throwing the ball any good goalie wouldn't be blamed for missing the catch, but Scott still caught it. Tara jumped up almost immediately and started clapping and cheering. Everyone soon followed. Sydney stayed seated and just clapped. She was suspicious. Scott couldn't that good over night, and he wasn't even out of breath. Eventually Mikayla pulled her up and she joined in slightly, the last thing she heard from the group across the field was Tara.

"That was new."

⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒

"I don't know what it was. It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball." Scott said. Tara, Stiles, and Vivian listening.

They were in the woods yet again to find the body and Scott's inhaler. They were on the subject of Scott's great performance at tryouts. It was like something possessed him. Everyone was impressed. Even Sydney, who was a little weird at tryouts but Vivian couldn't get into that now.

"And that's not the only weird thing." Scott continued as his friends listened closely. "I can hear stuff... I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things."

"Smell things?" Tara asked.

"Like what?" Stiles added.

"Like that mint mojito gum in your pocket." Scott said back. Stiles looked at him skeptically and then reached into his pocket finding the piece of gum.

"You told me you didn't have any." Vivian said grabbing the gum from Stiles.

"I haven't had a pack for like a month." Stiles said making Vivian drop the gum on the ground.

"That's cool." Tara said walking a bit faster to keep pace with Scott. Vivian and Stiles were a bit behind them now since Vivian didn't really dress for the woods and was struggling.

"So this all started with a bite?" Stiles asked while handing Vivian his jacket since she kept getting scratched by branches.

"What if it's like an infection, and your bodies flooding with adrenaline before you go into shock." Vivian commented looking around at the trees. Most of them barley had any ground branches yet the ground was covered in branches, like they were ripped off.

"Can that happen?" Tara asked worry filling her voice. Everyone stopped and looked at Vivian for an answer. She sighed and walked past them before answering.

"Scott's mom is a nurse. If it was infected he would know." Vivian reassured. They all continued walking after Vivian cleared the air.

"You know what? I actually think I've heard of this- it's a specific kind of infection." Stiles said making Vivian scoff while Tara and Scott turned to him interested.

"What would that be?" Vivian asked not believing a word Stiles said.

"I think it's called Lycanthropy." Stiles said stopping next to Vivian while Scott and Tara stopped in front of them still looking at Stiles.

"Are you serious?" Scott asked with concern, while Tara asked with panic, and Vivian said with disbelief. She knew he was lying but Tara and Scott didn't spend a month with an obsession on werewolf's so they didn't understand what Stiles was implying.

"What's that? Is it bad?" Tara asked rapidly.

"Oh, yeah it's the worst." Vivian said sarcasm dripping from her voice but they didn't seem to care. "But it's only once a month."

"Once a month?" Scott questioned.

"On the night of the full moon." Stiles said completely serious. Tara and Scott still didn't seem to get it so Vivian howled and made ears with her hands.

Scott sighed and pushed Stiles slightly while Tara just walked away with Scott following her. Vivian just laughed and continued to walk after Stiles got his balance back.

"Don't laugh at me. You're wearing my jacket." Stiles said to Vivian then jogged slightly to Scott and Tara. "And you're the one who heard a wolf howling."

"There could be something seriously wrong with me." Scott said a little hurt, while Tara was just giving them the silent treatment.

"I know! You're a werewolf." Stiles said still trying to joke.

"Stiles." Vivian said effectively shutting him up. "You're fine Scott. You did say you were practicing with Tare, that's probably it."

"Yeah. You were getting a lot better." Tara added. She seemed to have lightened up a bit more which was a relief. Vivian didn't like how tense she'd become. Her worry over whatever stupid shit Scott did always took her over completely.

They all came to a stop at a little clearing in the woods. Scott looked down with a confused looked. He motioned down with his hands at a plain spot. "No, I-I could have sworn this was it."

Vivian looked around and saw just woods, no body or inhaler. She sighed put her hands on her hips while Scott and Stiles squatted on the ground. The girls where still standing backs facing the way they came.

"I saw the body and then the deer came running. I dropped my inhaler." He said. Tara looked nervous, she was glancing around rapidly.

"You don't think, that- that the killer moved the body?" Tara asked crossing her arms.

"If he did I hope he dropped my inhaler." Scott said pushing the leaves around.

"If he didn't I'll buy you a new one." Tara said grabbing Scott's arm from the ground.

"Shit." Vivian whispered hitting all of them. They all looked up and saw what she was talking about.

Across the clearing was a taller guy. He had a stubble and black hair. He looked a little familiar. He was glaring at them. Scott and Stiles got up and looked over at him. Tara kept her grip on Scott's arm, slightly hiding behind him. Vivian was standing next to Stiles and tilted her head slightly trying to process where she would've seen him.

"What are you doing here." He said as he started to walk toward them. "This is private property."

"We're sorry- um we- we didn't know." Tara said with a nervous smile.

"We were just looking for something- but.." Scott said hesitating but when the guy raised his eyebrows Scott seemed to make up his mind. "Uh, forget it."

The guy then pulled something from his pocket. He threw it over to Scott, it was his inhaler. Vivian then realized how she knew him.

"Thanks." Vivian said for Scott who was still looking at his inhaler. "We'll leave now."

The guy nodded and turned walking away. When he seemed to be out of earshot they all looked at each other.

"He was cute, but scary." Tara said stepping back from Scott even though she obviously didn't want to.

"You remember right?" Stiles asked looking between them all. Vivian nodded before adding. "That was Derek Hale."

"He's only a few years older than us." Vivian added. Tara nodded understanding who he was.

"Remember what?" Scott asked confused.

"His family. They all burned to death in a fire, like, ten years ago." Stiles explained.

"Only him and his uncle survived. I take care of his uncle... Shit" Vivian said stopping suddenly "I have to work today."

She then started speed walking back the way they came. Stiles walked a little slower but was still able to keep pace. Scott and Tara walked the slowest and were a ways behind them.

"Did you know about the Hales?" Scott asked.

"Oh, um yeah. My family knew them. When I was really young I remember them coming over once. They were nice." Tara said softly. She gave Scott a small smile.

"Wanna hang out with me at work today?" Scott asked trying to get the Hales out of her mind.

"Obviously." Tara said her eyes lit up and she looked over at him with a wide smile "Narcissa is being boarded there right?"

Narcissa was Tara's cat. She named her that after the Harry Potter character since she was black and white. Tara loved that cat with all of her being. Narcissa was being held because Tara's parents were out of town and Tara hadn't had time to take her to the Gasko's. Scott nodded which made Tara grab his arm and start walking faster.

"Well come on then."

Tara was sitting on a counter waiting for Scott to clean his wound. She asked to help but he insisted that he was fine. So Tara was now just waiting. She decided to start closing and walked over to the front door. She flipped the open sign to closed and looked out the glass door. It was storming pretty bad. She hoped that it would lighten up before her and Scott had to go home.

Tara walked back to find Scott walking out of the bathroom looking confused. He looked up and jumped back a little when he found her standing there. "You okay?"

"Um yeah just something weird happened. I'll tell you later." Scott said before looking at the clock on the wall. "Can you help me feed the cats?"

"Sure." Tara said, she'd do anything Scott asked her.

They both basically dragged the bag to the room they held all the cats, including Narcissa. The minute they stepped in all the cats started hissing and hitting the cages. Tara looked over at Narcissa who was doing it too.

"It's probably the storm!" Scott shouted over the storm, which was hitting the roof and making it hard to hear.

"You go back out and finish up. I'll try to calm them." Tara yelled back. Scott nodded and let the room. The minute he closed the door they all seemed to calm down.

Tara found this odd but decided to ignore it and just started to feed them. After about 20 minutes she finished. The storm wasn't any better but Tara knew she should probably go find Scott and hitch a ride with him or call Stiles. She walked out of the room and looked around. She looked into one of the room and saw Scott, but he wasn't alone. He was with the new girl. Allison?

Tara stood there for a second and tried to calm down. This was a vet clinic maybe Allison had a pet who got hurt. I mean there is a dog on the table in front of them. Tara was about to just wait out the conversation in the lobby but then she looked up and saw Scott get closer and tuck some of Allison's wet hair behind her ear.

Tara couldn't handle that. She wiped her eyes and walked out of the clinic. Impulsive and stupid but Tara let her emotions get the best of her. She didn't know where to go because she certainly didn't want to go home. She just started walking.

A couple miles away Vivian was looking out one of the windows and sighed. Her mom wouldn't be off for another 3 hours and Vivian didn't want to walk home in that weather. She decided to call Stiles after this next patient. While she was finishing up her last few tasks one of the nurses approached her.

"Hey, Peter Hale buzzed a few seconds ago can you check on him. I've got my hands full." He asked with his hands literally full. Vivian nodded and made her way to Hales room. She ignored the coincidence that she just saw his nephew a few hours ago and walked into his room with a smile.

He was still covered in burns and nonverbal. He barley even moved, just sat there till it was time to eat. The doctors said he'd be like this for the rest of his life. Vivian felt bad for him.

"Hello Mr. Hale." Vivian said walking around his room. She looked around to see what he could've buzzed for. She saw that he was just staring out the window. The storm was still going strong. Then she saw that no one had come to clean up his tray from dinner. "Sorry it took us so long to clean this."

Vivian made her self busy and started to stack that plates on the tray. She didn't like how quiet it was, her anxiety made her feel uneasy.

"I saw your nephew earlier today." Vivian said trying to fill the air. "He seems to be doing a little better."

After she finished her second sentence she heard a cup shatter and looked up. Peter had accidently moved his arm and knocked over a glass of water next to him.

"Oh, I'm sorry I'll go get someone to clean that and help you to bed if you'd like." Vivian said before grabbing the tray and leaving the room. She did get someone to go in and help him but not because she couldn't but because she was a little freaked out. He hadn't moved his arm that much around her and it was dark and just everything about today made her want to just sit that out.

Vivian sat down in the lobby and called Stiles. He picked up after the first ring. She sighed loudly into the phone and that told Stiles all he needed.

"Rough shift?" Stiles asked even though he already knew the answer.

"That's not even the half of it." Vivian said. "Can you pick me up? I'll hang out with you a bit if you do."

"Of course I will. I couldn't leave my darling Vivian all alone in the rain." Stiles joked earning a slight laugh and smile from Vivian.

"Thanks Stiles." Vivian said leaning back in her chair. "You're a life saver."

"I try my best." Stiles said as he got up and grabbed his keys. Before Vivian could say anything someone walked through the main doors covered in rain and looked like she'd been crying. Tara.

"Tara?" Vivian said confusing Stiles.

"Is everything okay?" He asked stopping in the middle of his room.

"Yeah, yeah. Um just get here as quick as you can." Vivian said before hanging up.

Vivian got up and ran over to. She lead Tara to a chair and waved away the nurses. "Aren't you supposed to be with Scott?" Vivian asked concern evident in her voice.

"Um the new girl came in with an injured dog." Tara said softly "Didn't want to bother them."

Vivian sighed and looked over Tara once again she was shivering way to much for Vivian. Luckily like the guardian angle she is Naomi came over with a blanket and a smile.

"Hey Sweetheart." Naomi said putting the blanket over Tara. She then looked at Vivian. "You two have a ride right? I can leave early if you need."

"Thanks mom, but we'll be fine. I called Stiles and he should be here any minute." Vivian reassured before hearing honks. "And there he is. I'll take care of her, you just focus on work."

"You know that's not possible." Naomi said before giving Vivian detailed instructions on how to take care of Tara.

She finally let them go and Vivian set Tara in the back seat while she got into the front. Before Stiles could say anything about Tara in his backseat Vivian gave him a look and he just started the car.

"So.. Lovely weather we're having.... Ow."

That night Stiles had Tara stay over. Vivian stayed for a little longer before going home. Sydney just sat in her room. She could hear the conversations clearly and had to put headphones in so she could finally get some sleep. Sydney was still having a bit of trouble getting to sleep but she must have fallen asleep because next thing she knew she was in the woods.

She must have been dreaming because she couldn't really control what she was doing. She just kept running. It was as if she had a specific goal in mind. She felt so restless and she just couldn't stop running. Eventually the sun started to rise and Sydney stopped in a small clearing. She kept thinking she was going to wake up but after a few minutes she pinched herself and realized she wasn't dreaming.

That made her panic more than waking up in the woods did. She looked around rapidly and saw a black figure move in the corner of her eyes. She stopped and looked over in that direction and saw nothing. She shook her head and started walking out of the woods. Well she hoped it was out. After an hour she finally found a sidewalk. She walked all the way back to her house and snuck back in through her already open window.

She immediately went to her bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror. Her hair was a mess and her clothes were slightly ripped. She decided that she should look at the bite on her shoulder. Every since that night she hasn't really glanced at it. She assumed that it was a rouge animal or something. She had heard something howl or yell. It was fuzzy. She rolled up her sleeve and looked over expecting to see a horrible infected bite but instead it was just her shoulder.

It was completely normal as if nothing bit her at all. She looked down and got even more confused. This was not normal. Everything was so weird now. She could hear and smell better. The anger insider her seemed to double, it was like she couldn't control herself. She finally looked at herself in the mirror and couldn't believe what she saw.

Her eyes flickered blue than yellow. It was only for a second but Sydney noticed.
