Week 33 - A Recipe for Rhyme
For best results, follow instructions to the letter,
Take a cup of words; no, make that two, it's better.
Add a generous amount of rhythm and reason,
And essence of rhyme or verse, if in season.
A sprinkling of alliteration or similes would nice,
Refrains and repetition are the spice
Separate the stanzas, stir in a metaphor,
Whisk in the wordplay, as feelings you pour.
Let it simmer in your head, your heart keeps it warm,
And wait in patience as the poem takes form.
In the heat of emotions, sparked by a flaming thought,
In ink and on paper, it is presented, sizzling hot.
Yet, it would read as well when served cold,
Like fine wine, it only ages well when old.
For week 33, we had to write a poem based on a recipe ("Choose a recipe and make it the basis for a poem); somehow my mind rebelled, sort of, and I have a recipe for writing a poem. I just hope it does not turn out to be a recipe for disaster.
