35-Too Good at Goodbyes

"I'm never gonna let you close to me
Even though you mean the most to me
'Cause every time I open up, it hurts
So I'm never gonna get too close to you
Even when I mean the most to you
In case you go and leave me in the dirt"
Too Good at Goodbyes-Sam Smith

When Celine arrived home, the house was empty.

Thankfully, so that she could move everything out in peace. Jin ordered a moving truck for her. Jimin offered to help pack too, but she figured that she needed to be alone.

Celine needed to face Jeongguk alone. Without anyone else. Just the two of them. She had to pay the consequences for what she had done to him.

No matter how bad Jeongguk had been, it never gave her the right to cheat. She should have cut it off immediately.

Morally she knew that. But knowing how unhinged he could be, she knew it would've never been an option. Even if everything in her life worked out, even if sugar babying had never been her occupation, she knew leaving Jeongguk would be just as difficult.

He wanted her to feel that way.

But she also was scared. So scared of the way his hand would ball into a fist when she made him angry. Scared of the way he'd scream in her face and call her a bitch. Scared of the way he'd grab her hips and force himself on her.

It reminded her of every sugar daddy. Familiar.

She still hated herself for it everyday. No matter how much he hurt it.

And maybe that's another reason why she did it.

To return the hurt.

In the moment, it felt like the worst thing to do. For she bought she loved Jeongguk. That Jimin was just someone she listed after.

And she couldn't have been more wrong.

And that was something she would have to live with for the rest of her life.

Her stomach felt heavy, with something like lead. Her mouth dry, eyes tired and achy. Hands shaky with anxiety.

Will the truth kill him?

Will it kill me?

I won't be able to stand the look on his face.

But she would have to. He deserved to be told the truth, no matter how much she wanted to avoid it.

Once everything was gone, she looked around. Wondering how her life had changed so much within less than a year.

It was no she realized that she truly never thought of it as a home.

The walls too dark, sinking in onto her like a cave. The marble too hard and cold, ice shards on her stagnant body. Everything to sharp and steamed to perfection. The rooms all angular and closed in, feeling dreary and lifeless.

But the bright city shone through the open window, like a beacon. Reminding her of the happiness that was yet to come.

She sat in what was once their room, now completely void of her possessions. The black sheets smooth and pristine, thanks to her.

It looked so lonely, as she sat on the stiff edge of the furniture.

Looking in the mirror, the girl saw a different person. A more confident pen. Not completely healed, but hopefully one day she would get there.

She was so scared before, so frightened of the web of lies she created.

But now it was time. To untangle everyone she had caught.

The girl walked out of the room, surprisingly sad. It wasn't that she was going to miss being with him, it was past that point.

It was more nostalgia coming back to wreck her senses. Though mostly bad memories were created here, the good ones were enough to fill her eyes to the brim with tears. If only there was a better way-

Without warning, the door to the living room opened.

The man she had been so careful to avoid, walked in.

Tall, dark haired, and handsome as always. In a suit tailored to perfection, some black strands falling onto his lightly tanned face. He held a blank expression on his face, not noticing the girl was in the middle of the room as he nonchalantly set his keys down. The clanging of metal welcome in the perpetual silence.

The girl had never been more filled with sudden dread. Her breath caught in her throat as his gaze finally settled on her.

She watched, as he tensed up, like caught prey. His tongue pressed into the side of his cheek, letting her know that he was expecting some sort of fight.

But she didn't want to yell.

She just wanted to say goodbye.

Be strong, just say it. He's right there in front of you. You can fucking do it.

He clicked his tongue, nodding to her as if to urge her to say something. Anything. Just a word to kill the suffocating quiet.

This is it.

The torment is going to be over.

"Jeongguk I'm leaving." She said, voice echoing across the room.

The man walked over, dress shoes hitting the hard wood with a clap.

She stumbled back as he walked closer to her, scared of his reaction. Remembering the way his hand had risen against her when she had accidentally spoken Jimin's name.

He was only a foot away from her, eyes void of emotion. Mouth set in a harsh line.

The 19 year old leaned towards her, and the girl flinched.

After a few seconds, she opened her eyes. Surprised to find a small smile on his face. It wasn't a happy one, and the devastation was clearly there as well. But he wasn't angry.

"I know." Jeongguk replied, his smooth voice jolting her. It was gentle, and more kind than she had heard it in months.

Who was this? And why was he being so calm? What happened to the explosive anger?

The girl was cautious, waiting for him to blow up. When he said that he knew, he could have just thought she was moving out.

Not that she was breaking up with him as well.

"You know?" The brunette asked, inching forward tentatively. She swallowed harshly, as the man took in a deep breath.

And for a second, it was clear exactly what he knew. From the way he avoided her gaze, the burning glare of embarrassment he sent to the ground. The way his hands were trembling in clenched fists.

Oh my god.

"I know everything." He muttered out, a cross between a grimace and a laugh.

"Everything? When did you find out? How?" She asked, taking a simple step towards him. The girl new better than to reach out.

It was indescribable. The tightness she felt in her chest, watching Jeongguk say the words out loud.

His eyes, his fucking eyes.

There was nothing that needed to be said.

The sadness and betrayal found in their dark, harrowing depths was enough. He sighed painfully, a silence between them more thick than a sheet of rain. His desolate and quick breaths matching the way his eyes slightly narrowed, not angry but in a state of broken nostalgia.

Thinking back to the times, when Celine was his.

Remembering the instant, he had lost her.

And now that they were finally here, talking about it. It became more real. With a hollow feeling in his chest, the woman right before him confirmed what he knew to be true.

And he'd never felt more fucking shattered before.

Like the final thread that was holding it all together was cut.

Looking at her caramel eyes, coated with moisture. The shamed blush on her cheeks, the look of horror and shock.

Hand nearly reaching out to touch him. To offer some sort of sympathy. But he didn't want pity. He didn't want an apology.

What was done, was done.

She wasn't sorry all the times she had been fucking Jimin.

"I saw, you and Jimin. I was going to go to your art show, and surprise you. I'm the one who got a surprise instead, ironically." The man said, voice cracking as he shook his dark head side to side.

He had known. For months now. And he had not said a single word.

Everytime she had stayed the night out.

Everytime she's arrive with Jimin at any event.

He had known.

It fucking killed the girl inside.

"Oh my god. Oh my fucking god. I know I should have told you sooner, and trust me I hate myself more than-"

"Celine, it's okay."

She shook her head, disbelief and horror streaming down her face in angry tears.

It was just as she imagined. Seeing that look on his face, the acceptance hurt her more than anger would have. The defeated look was an abyss of darkness to her.

For Jeongguk never gave up.

"It's not okay!" She screamed, face turning bright red.

The dark haired man remained calm, a wistful smile on his face. With every second her heart pounded louder. And with every second, his ceased to stop.

He could tell, this was real for her. She never meant to hurt him. Everything just spiraled our of control so quick. It didn't help that she was tempted.

"It is. I've accepted it, that we just weren't meant to be." He replied, the words tasting sour on his tongue.

"I lied to you for months. Pretending I was more than holy. I went behind your back with your best friend. I put a strain on your friendships. Don't you fucking hate me like how I hate myself? Letting my feelings control me, instead of telling you the truth? For being a coward?" The girl spit out, every fiber of her being filled with disgust at her own being.

How could I do this to someone?

She had become so numb for a while, that it had melted away. But this, this was all right in front of her face. She couldn't avoid it.

"I could never hate you." Jeongguk whispered, his hand lightly brushing against her arm. Feeling warm to the touch, but distant all at once.

Lightly veiled by loving another.

"But you should. Don't you have questions? Feel the need to know the reason why everything didn't work?"

"I already know a lot. I found out about the sugar daddying thing. That's how you met him right? And the whole going to Paris with him, and everything else. I should have known when Jimin walked into the office smelling like your perfume all the goddamn time. I was just stupid."

"No, I'm the stupid one. Even if, things weren't working between us, You didn't deserve this." Celine interjected.

Jeongguk held up his hand politely, a look of guilt crossing his face. He had his own demons as well, that couldn't be ignored.

"I was terrible to you. I put you down in so many ways, treated you lesser than. Always talked about your appearance instead of your character. I even tried to ruin a chance at your future. We all make mistakes. We all wish we could go back in time, and fix every little thing we did wrong. But I know I can't, and I'll have to live with the fact I fucked it up for us. It doesn't have to be this way forever, and I know I need help. I treated you and my friends...worse than horrible."

The girl couldn't deny his truth. It was what partly made her stray away. The constant manipulation and degradation. But rubbing salt into an open wound wouldn't help either.

The girl nodded her head, eyes downcast. Taking a weary step towards the male. A tension in her voice, quiet and somber. Filled with every apology she wanted to say.

"I didn't want this to happen Jeongguk. With him. It just did."

An unreadable expression flashed across the man's face.

"Is it because I'm not good enough for you?"

"I loved you in the beginning. I love you now. In the sense I want you to get the help you need. But not as a romantic partner. I'm just sorry that it had to go down this way. I was scared."

"I'm grateful for the good times. I'll remember them always." She said, sounding more like a stranger than ever.

He smiled, for real this time. A lost sparkle in his eyes that ceased to exist. The warmth that used to be there only a dwindling ember.

With her smile, her real smile, he became weak.

"As will I."

For a second, he saw a flicker in her eyes. It was the most genuine and civil they'd been in months. The same enthralled wonderment that was there when she looked at him the first time they'd met.

God it made his heart fucking ache.

She truly had loved him once. And he knew it.

The anger that had possessed him for months melted away in her caring gaze. The stars and the moon aligning in them, reminding him of the countless moments they had spent together. Her fingers in his hair, limbs tangled. Laughing about everything under the sun.

This girl was the same girl.

Only a little stronger. Built up front eh scared girl she was, only a year ago. No matter how much Jeongguk has managed to try and tear her down, she was still her own stubborn person.

I don't want to be the one to tear her down again.

"You should go Celine. Please." Jeongguk said, eyes squeezing shut as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

The man fell onto the edge of his couch, feeling breathless and slightly dizzy. For a second, he just wanted all of it to be over. The fighting

He wasn't sure what it was, that made him give up. That made revenge seem like nothing to him. That made all the animosity vanish from his body.

I can't do it. I can't do this.

Because he believed her. Believed that somewhere deep down, she did love him.

"Okay. But one more thing? Don't hate Jimin because of this. He's loved you more than anyone."

She said goodbye.

He nodded.

And then he let her walk away.

Without saying a word about her sister.

He had given her respect. Kindness. Forgiveness.

And it was more than she deserved.

I'm finally free. She said to herself. Happily jumping a little.

*****

A minute had passed, since she walked out. He knew that the girl probably hadn't even made it to the elevator yet, the first floor was large.

And with each passing second, the man grew more and more bitter.

How the fuck did he just let her walk away like that?

He thought of their first kiss.

Their last.

And every little moment between.

But every ounce of injustice came back, when he thought of Park Jimin. How  fucking proud he must be that Celine decided to leave him. They must have had a bottle of champagne bought, congratulating their affair turned relationship. Now they could be together without guilty feelings, or moral obligation.

Seeing Jeongguk as some pathetic obstacle in their way of happiness. Something to step over, as they chewed and spit him out.

And the fact that Celine was so, so close from leaving the building. Walking out of his life so easily. A few simple words and some tears were enough for her.

After a whole fucking year.

Again the world became black and white. Good and bad. Betrayal and karma.

He couldn't give up now.

He'd already gone too far.

He'd already lost the girl of his dreams.

The young man refused to lose his pride as well.

Jeongguk got up, flinging open his apartment door. He saw Celine at the end, the elevator doors slowly opening.

He bounded towards her, feet pressing harshly into the ground. He'd never ran faster.

The girl turned to face him, eyes shocked as she heard his bounding foot steps.

"Jeongguk?" She asked, looking confused but not in a mean way.

He was breathing harshly as he made it in front of her. Every hair in his body standing up, the back of his neck tingling.

"Wait, I need to say something before you leave. It has to be in private."

She looked around the hall, a bit apprehensive. But quickly nodded her head, following him back to his apartment.

She owed him the world right now.

The ex-couple made their way inside. Jeongguk quickly shutting the door. He ruffled in his desk drawer right next to the kitchen, pulling out a nude envelope.

"What?" Celine asked, growing more impatient as he ruffled around.

The man turned to face her, a somewhat harsh look on his face. Shadows had settled into his jaw and cheeks, making him look years older.

"Do you really love him? Is there really no chance for me and you?" He said, walking towards her. A desperation that wasn't there before filling his words and heart.

He wanted to touch her, but he held back. The pain in his narrowed eyes so clear.

Celine saw that he was on edge now, so she tried to calm him down. It still wasn't anything she couldn't handle. She knew he was bound to freak out a little at some point, and understandably.

"I'm sorry, Jeongguk, I'm so sorry. I still love you, but I'm not in love with you. I always love you, but I think we both know this was never going to work out. You deserve the time needed to heal with yourself."

Jeongguk laughed to himself.

As if I'm the one with the problem. All I did was try to protect you. Keep you in line. Make you more perfect.

And this is how you repay me?

He took in a deep breath, closing his eyes and clenching his jaw.

"That's not what I asked." Jeongguk said, throat tense with unshed tears as he pasted on a fake smile.

Celine knew she couldn't avoid it, as the silence rose between them. A wall of what each of them already knew.

So she told the truth.

Tired of lies.

"Yes, I love him more than anything."

She expected screaming.

She expected throwing.

But the man remained silent.

Slowly opening his eyes, as if he were seeing her for the first time.

"Good."

Now Celine was starting to get worried. The way he said it, sent her on edge. It sounded like how it usually did when he cursed at her.

"Good? I don't understand."

The man smiled, in a sinister way.

I need to get the fuck out of here.

"I just want what's best for you, and in order to know what's best, you need all the facts."

"What do you mean?" She asked, an attitude making her sound more harsh. The girl narrowed her eyes, at the man who seemed to grow increasingly more broken.

"I have to show you something."

"Please, Jeongguk-" She said, intending to ignore whatever he was about to say.

"It's important, please just look at it."

He handed her the blank folder, without saying another word. She took it in her hands, not wanting to drop it.

She rolled her eyes at the man, who waited patiently as she stared at nothingness.

It was starting to get awkward, so she did as he pleased and opened it.

And

How much

She wished

She hadn't.

It was a police report.

The police report. From the exact date of Mia's death.

Everything was there.

Name: Kim Mia

D.O.B: 09/03/96

Time and date of death: 4:00 pm August 12th 2016

Causes: External and internal bleeding. Broken spine, cracked cranium. Severe brain bleeding. Asphyxiation. Loss of oxygen, and excessive overall bleeding. Unable to revive. Would have lost all motor and speech function. Brain dead if woken from a coma.

Description of crime scene: Kim Celine and Kim Mia were driving in their black Sudan in the afternoon of August 12th.  Kim Mia, an adult allowed her sister who had just received her permit legally, to drive her. It had started to rain, so the older Kim decided they should head back home. At an estimated 3:30 pm the car was hit on its right side by a large black hatchback. The driver was found to be intoxicated 2 times above the legal level, and two inebriated to see the red light. This impact instantly killed the passenger. The driver only suffered moderate injuries.

Name of Perpetrator: Park Jimin

Person charged with death: Park Jimin set to five months in jail. $500,000 probation.

Out on bail.

Park Jimin.

Park Jimin.

Park Jimin.

Every detail was there.

But why did it say Jimin's name?

That couldn't be right.

It wasn't right.

They said they never found the driver.

Celine let out a laugh, on the verge of insanity as she shoved the paper in Jeongguk's face.

"What the fuck is this?"

He smirked, a gleam in his eye at the way she asked. Like she could barely hold it together.

"I thought you should know you're whoring around with the guy who killed your sister."

Celine's eyes burned with tears as he laughed. Like it was the best joke of century. Like the death and demise of her sister belonged in a comedy skit. The fact that he called her a whore was the least of her worries.

The girl was two seconds away from wringing his neck. She imaged his eyes going dead, his lips turning blue.

She was murderous.

This is the Jeongguk I expected. The one I wanted. This is why he acted so fucking nice earlier. This is what he had planned. Fucking sick bastard.

"This is a sick joke. This isn't funny. No matter what I've done to you, you don't mess with my sister."

"I'm not joking Celine. I'm showing you the truth."

His face was serious now. No ounce of a smile. Celine has dug her fingers into her skin, trying to wake herself up from this terrible dream.

It couldn't be.

Not Jimin. Not my fucking Jimin.

He didn't do it.

He didn't.

If he did it I-

"No, you're fucking lying. This is fake." She said, anger slowly overcome by sadness she'd never felt before.

The sobs came easily, like the tide. Pulling her into their depths.

Shaking, mouth open but nothing coming out.

And the man just watched from the side. Neither happy nor fulfilled. Just fucking numb. But it was too late now for anything.

"Why would I lie to you?" The dark haired man asked, not coming any closer to her.

She looked up, shooting him an intense glare. The small girl never looking more dangerous.

"You have before. To hurt me one last time because I'm leaving you. And you can't stand that, can you? That I don't need you anymore. The only person I need is myself."

Jeongguk pounded his fists on the kitchen counter, causing a bowl to crash to the floor. His jaw was clenched, eyes filled with an immeasurable amount of hatred.

You hid it so well, didn't you Jeongguk?

"And you haven't? Because you fucked my best friend behind my back for months? Cheated on someone who provided for you and loved you? No, at this point I just feel sorry for you. It's pathetic. Fucking the guy who murdered Mia. I thought I was helping."

Fucking the guy who murdered Mia.

Fucking the guy who murdered Mia.

Fucking the guy who murdered Mia.

Celine screamed loudly, bloody and high pitched. Hands clenched and mouth wide open, without a single word. She was fucking tired, fucking tired of this world. Tired of everything that this life had to offer.

Tired of the man who had messed with her mind for so long.

Jeongguk stumbled back, trying to look unperturbed. Though his larger eyes widened in shock.

"Go to hell!" The girl finally said, voice raw and booming within the room.

Jeongguk stepped forward, never straying away. His voice had softened, as he took in her fragile stance, and the blank stare she gave him.

"You don't have to go with him, you could stay with me. We could work this out. I love you enough to forgive you." The man finished, like he was a fucking hero for saying it.

But the small brunette wasn't buying it.

"You think I'm staying with you after this? You're a fucking psychopath."

She angrily whipped around, heading the apartment door. The girl grasped her folder tightly, as if it were a piece of her sister.

"Shut your fucking mouth!" The man yelled back, roughly pulling on her wrist.

The girl gasped, feeling a pull in her shoulder. She started flailing her arms around, trying to get the man off of her. Jeongguk was really strong, and she could feel her wrist starting to bruise.

He now had he moving with him towards the wall, two bodies struggling. She felt her chest raise up and down with panic.

No.

She wouldn't be a caged animal because of him ever again. Caught in a trap she was too afraid to leave because of the wolf's snout that always threatened to close around her.

Finally she reeled back and slapped him in the face.

He looked up shocked, as the snap rung around the room. He let go of the girl. The man touched his left cheek, staring wide eyed at the girl in front of him. Silent and unwavering.

"I hope you die! You're a goddamn piece of shit." Celine said, no pity left within her for the terribly rotten man before her.

He laughed, tongue in cheek as he pulled his hand away from his face. A red mark was beginning to form.

"Well no one else would want you anyways. You're damaged goods. How many men have been inside you Celine? How much do you charge?"

He laughed, though nothing was funny.

"Hell, if I cared about you less, I might've been willing to share. With Jimin."

The girl shook her head, trying to will the tears to go away. Face burning with shame and embarrassment. And fighting against every will she had to just fall apart inside.

You know this is Jeongguk Celine. Who he truly is.

But who he just described

Isn't you.

"I will be damned before I let a man like you manipulate me anymore. I don't need you. I was never your fucking play thing. This "damaged good" is leaving your sadistic ass officially."

Celine walked out the door. Hoping he didn't follow after this time.

"You'll come back." He said, yelling after her down the hallway.

"Hold your breath until I do."

The man looked chagrined, his chest rising and falling. Mouth open, showing he'd throw more words of abuse at her. But she was done.

"You know, I would've told you the first night. That Jimin and I had made love. The only reason why I didn't is because I thought you'd fucking hit me. Hit me until I couldn't speak, couldn't think, couldn't breathe. I thought you wouldn't be able to stop as my blood splayed across the walls of your fucking apartment. And I knew it wasn't worth it to give my life for a man I did not love."

And with that she finally walked away from him.

Without looking back.

*****

"Hey Celine-oh god what's wrong." Jimin asked, as the girl barged into his house.

Her hair was a mess, cheeks blotchy, and face screwed up in the most heart wrenching expression. The man figured things had gone badly with Jeongguk, and immediately he was in protective mode.

The man reached out, attempting to pull her pacing body into an embrace when she stuck a paper in his face. Waving it around widely, fist clenched so tight he could barely catch any words.

"Explain this. Explain why your name is here." She said harshly finally handing him the white sheet.

He took the paper, completely confused as to why could possibly be acting this way towards him.

But then he read it.

Kim Mia.

Her death.

And his own name.

Where Jeon Jeongguk's was supposed to be printed.

Oh my god.

It was Jeongguk who did it.

The same day. The same fucking rainy day. Drunk driving.

He should have known.

The man's eyes burned, deep regret filling his system. He clenched his eyes shut, hands trembling with the paper.

He looked up at Celine, who was shaking as well. Eyes cold, body tensed. Burning with tears of confusion and anguish.

He'd seen her like this before.

But never directed at him.

It stopped him in his tracks.

"Explain why it says that you fucking murdered my sister. Explain it. Now. I can't breathe I can't feel I can't move I need to know. Why that court ordered document says your name!" Celine yelled out, in a feral manner.

Jimin shook his head slowly, hoping the the tears forming in his eyes were enough to show her he was effected by this too.

Fucking Mia.

Was gone.

Because of his best friend.

Because he didn't stop him from driving.

Jimin felt like it was partly his fault.

"This isn't what it looks like." He said, soft voice cracking. He ran a hand through his hair when he saw Celine step away from him, like he was a pariah.

Please believe me.

"Then convince me! Tell me that it isn't true. Tell me that this entire time you haven't been mentally fucking me over. Not you too. Because this can't be true. It just can't be."

Silence.

They just stared at each other, both on opposite sides of the room.

It was hard for her.

He was usually the one she would run to.

But with each second he hesitated, it became more clear that she couldn't.

No, no Jimin,

Tell me.

Tell me that this a lie.

Say something.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Celine asked, dangerously quiet now. Voice rubbed raw with emotion as she begged the man to open his mouth.

His silver head was bowed down, his tan body looking pale as the moon. He looked more skinny, more frail this way. The man stared at Celine, as intense as always. Begging with his eyes.

"It isn't." He said, breaking the silence.

Celine breathed out a sigh of relief, more tears falling forward. But she didn't touch him yet.

The doubt was still there.

"Well if it wasn't you, then who did it?"

More silence.

Please.

The doll faced man shook his head, pink tinted eyes regretful. Lips glossy from the tears that had fallen.

Tears of guilt, or remorse?

"I can't say."

"Tell me right now!"

He still was not saying anyone. She could tell from the look on his face that he knew who.

In that moment, the name didn't matter.

Not as much as his silence.

Even if it wasn't him, it felt like he had been behind the wheel himself. Because he knew who did it and was protecting them.

"I can't." Jimin said, finally letting the tears fall.

But she couldn't feel sorry.

It was enough for her.

His silence became her answer.

Even if it was the most pain she had ever felt in her life. A knife stabbing into her chest over and over again. The amount of betrayal and disgust she felt was overwhelming.

She looked at the man, who used to be so beautiful. So perfect.

No marred by the blood of her family.

All good things come to an end.

Celine gritted her teeth, refusing to cry for the man who fucking smashed her car. Who mangled her sisters body.

In seconds the memories of kisses, love, and friendship were gone.

I was his charity case. His chance at redemption.

"Then never speak to me again. Never even think my name in your thoughts. Never imagine my face, or call my number. You fucking killed my sister, and you are dead to me." Celine yelled out, almost indistinguishable from the amount of crying. So angry and so beyond hurt at the same time.

The girl couldn't comprehend it. That it was him.

It was too much to bear.

She swore she couldn't breath. Couldn't think. Couldn't feel her heart beat any longer.

She felt dead inside.

For she cut off her light.

"Baby, please. Trust me. I need time to figure this out." Jimin called out to her, grabbing onto her hand. Not pulling. Not aggressive.

Just wanting to hold her one last time. He knew he needed time, and that she wouldn't give him a second chance.

She ripped her hand away, like it was fire. Eyes filled with disgust and rage.

"You probably loved me out of guilt. You're fucking sick. I can't believe I-"

Jimin cut her off. Not touching her, but comic so close he could press a kiss to her forehead. Close enough she could smell his favorite cologne. Close enough to where she could see that effervescent sparkle in his eyes.

"But Celine, I love you."

The girl had stopped crying at this point. She stared directly at him, wiping away the streaks of moisture on her own face.

And without a second thought, spoke the words that would end it all.

"I can't."

She walked out.

Leaving Jimin to again mourn the death of Mia alone.

********

Jin, Jeongguk, and Namjoon all sat around Jin's oak dining room table.

Jin laughed about something on his phone, leaning his head against his boyfriends shoulder.

Namjoon glanced at Jeongguk, pointing to his phone.

The dark haired man looked down and saw a text.

Purple Haired Freak

Did you do it?

Jeongguk

Yeah. It went worse than planned.

The dark haired man looked up when Namjoon chuckled. He stopped quickly after looking at the younger man's face.

Jin looked up from his phone, glancing at his boy friend.

"Hey we should go grocery shopping soon." He said, nudging the dimpled man.

"What a fun couple outing!" Jeongguk said sarcastically rolling his eyes.

Jin leaned forward, ready to yell at the boy when he looked past his head.

"Jimin?"

Jeongguk looked confused as well, wondering why everyone had the boys name on their mind.

When he felt a blow to the back of the head.

Jeongguk fell forward, wincing in pain as he fell of the chair, his head smashing against the table.

The man only saw stars, vision becoming hazy. Then he saw a familiar figure, a familiar face. Once that filled him with jealousy and cruelty floated above him.

His usually weak friend's eyes were murderous, as he punched into his already bruised face over and over again.

The friend who wouldn't "hurt a fly" was bashing his head in.

The younger male wanted to laugh.

Jimin cursed and screamed and yelled, face distorted as he kept hitting his younger friend.

"You fucking killed her! You killed her you killed her you fucking killed her you son of a bitch! You fucking liar!"

Finally, the male was pulled off of him. Jeongguk stayed on the ground, unable to get up. He could feeling his eyes and mouth starting to swell.

Jimin was angry.

Jimin was crying.

Jeongguk smiled, teeth now covered in blood.

The older male screamed, trying to rip himself out of Jin's grasp.

"He killed her Jin! The girl he fucking murdered was Celine's sister! It's harder to know who you murdered isn't it? Unless you fucking have someone take responsibility for you." Jimin said, crying and still trying to get out of his grasp. His rage made him ten times strong than usual.

Namjoon went to help Jeongguk sit up.

"Whats going on? What happened?" Said the elder, finally letting go of the silver haired man a bit.

The man took in a harsh breath, his knuckles bloody and scraped. Running a hand through his silver hair as he looked at Jin.

Jin was scared. Jimin could have killed him.

"He gave Celine the police report! The one that says I murdered her sister. Which I didn't even fucking know it was her. Mia was my friend."

Jin felt his whole body shudder, at the look on the younger man's face.

Jimin was devastated. His little face was broken, his eyes swollen from crying. lol ok'ing so lost and alone. And the elder didn't think he could fix him this time.

"Oh were you fucking her to?" Jeongguk said, more blood falling down his lip as he spit the words at Jimin.

The silver haired man whirled around, spewing out words that Jin couldn't have imagined.

"No, but I fucked Celine Jeongguk. Many times. We fucked everywhere, all the time. Every place you had been. In the office. At my apartment. In your bed. I'll bet she even thought about me when you were fucking her too. She's said my name before right? With you inside her? Oh...I'm definitely right." The 21 year old yelled out, trying to hurt his old best friend with every bone in his body. The male took Jeongguk's silence as the answer, as the younger male refused to look Jimin in the eyes now. The elder was smirking now, looking triumphant over the male on the ground.

Jeongguk lurched forward, almost pushing Namjoon to the ground. But the man caught him, and pressed a finger into a bruise on his leg. The younger male cried out and stayed on the floor.

"Enough! Enough get Yoongi, Taehyung anyone and I'll call Celine to sort this out." Jim said, holding onto Jimin as he talked to Namjoon.

The purple haired man got up, brushing off his hands.

"No, don't worry about it. I'll do it."

"Are you sure?" The elder asked, looking apprehensive. He trusted him, but he was also worried Celine would be too hurt right now to listen to anyone.

"You're the only one who will be able to calm that down." Namjoon reassured him, patting the man on the shoulder.

He had to pat the right one.

Jimin was nestled into the other, sobbing and shaking into his friend.

"Okay. Thank you." Jin said, placing a chaste kiss on his cheek.

Namjoon walked out, smiling.

Knowing that going to talk to Celine would be the last thing he would do.

Instead he went for a nice stroll, so that he wouldn't have to hear the annoying fighting from inside the house.

Instead he texted her.

Celine

Change your number, they all knew about it. All of them, and hid it from you. Don't trust any of them. I'm so sorry.

He knew she would do as he said.

Because that's what people who fall out of love do.

Cut themselves off from the world, and become numb.

(A/N): THANK YOU FOR 30k I seriously love YOU GUYS!!!!

Y'all, it finally happened.

I know, people are gonna judge Celine. But guys, her sister died. The OFFICIAL police report says Jimin's name.

Why would she instantly think Jeongguk did it? Why would she think he'd forge the documents? It's already fucked up enough he searches through her past, let alone be devious enough to do any of that.

And why in that moment would she think about what Yoongi said to her?

She just found out the person she LOVES and BONDED with about MIA actually was the one to KILL her? It's soooooo messed up.

In that moment, her entire existence was in question. Not only did she been part of the reason why her sister passed, but she had LOVED IT. Loved and kissed and touched and protected

The guilt she felt was unbearable. She saw it as a full betrayal to your sister.

(Think of it as making out with a guy, and than after finding out he's a serial killer. Who was in fact the same serial killer, who killed your uncle *hypothetically* That's really not the same situation, but imagine that feeling of dread and disgust and betrayal because you were with a person who believed/did such terrible things. It is terribly confusing and emotionally upsetting to the person who put all their trust into someone, just to have it taken away)

To her, it was more believable that Jimin felt guilty for what he had done, and therefore tried to make up for it by "loving" her. In that second, she felt like she had been scammed. Like he had made up knowing her sister, just to get closer to her. Because Mia's death must have weighed heavy on his shoulders, so Celine became a "charity case".

Fucked up, really. But it made sense to her, because the man had always been so perfect, so forgiving, and so protective. And seemingly popped out of nowhere.

I also wanted to place emphasis on the fact that JIMIN had no clue about any of this. I know people are going to be like "WhY DidnT hE SaY AnYthinG?"

1) it's not in his nature. No matter what is being done to him, he couldn't put Jeongguk like that. He knew that Celine was stubborn and if she knew who the real perpetrator was, she would likely pursue legal action. Jimin knows that the Jeons could possibly hurt Celine in order to keep her quiet.

2) he just found out that his best friend murdered his other best friend....like how do you think rationally after that?

It was a shock to him, to find out that he was connected to the case. In that moment he was confronted, soooo many things were running through his mind. Because he just realized that Jeongguk had killed Mia. In that moment, his innocence seemed miniscule and nowhere near important.

Also his "innocence" feels wrong. He still helped cover up a murder and prevent justice towards the real perpetrator. It shouldn't change anything that it is someone that he knew. He feels immense guilt for that.

The reason behind Celine's pain (her depression, insecurities, loneliness, lack of family and friends), the reason behind Mia's death, stemmed from Jeongguk being reckless and drunk driving.

The man was overwhelmed, and rightfully so. He loved Celine so much, on a deeper level, that it was more important for him to go and confront Jeongguk than to prove it wasn't him. Do you get what I'm saying?

If he merely cared for her, he would be more worried about her reaction.

But no, he was more angry and focused on the fact that this event had caused her years and years of torment. And he wanted to avenge that.

Yes, y'all can say my characters are acting dumb. Because it honestly frustrates me too.

But in real life, we don't wait and listen for an explanation that we don't even know exists.

And all humans lie. A lot.

So what's Celine going to believe...

A government document?

Or Jimin?
