Chapter 9

"No one should be a slave to another."
~ Unknown

Kabe speed walked back to the mall where he had left his car and even the memory of the food he was previously devouring.

He drove all the way to the café at the speed limit and when he arrived he quickly swerved into a parking space and burst through the door of the café.

"Bro! Slow down!" Ryan, who seconds before had entered, braced out his hand at his chest.

At Ryan's voice he relaxed a bit. He quickly went to a table in a far corner with Ryan following behind him. When they both sat Kabe went right for the kill.

"You go first," Kabe demanded.

A waitress came and set down their coffees before them. They were usual customers so they orders were memorised.

"Dude, I don't know if what you saying is sooo important you couldn't wait 'til tomorrow so go first," Ryan replied looking quite relaxed with his hand slung behind his seat compared to Kabe's tense posture hunching over the table.

Kabe gave a hard stare then, "I saw Chantal."

"And.…" Ryan replied with a bored voice.

"She was with a man."

"Oookaaay…"

"She called him Sam."

"So what?"

"Don't you remember the news report last night?" Kabe asked him incredulously.

"Yeah I do," he answered as if it didn't matter, "It's just the story of another Jamaican fed up with their country, ran away and decided to not call home. Why should we get involved in something and we don't know why she doesn't want to call back home? What if she was hurt there? What if someone abused her?" he asked then took a sip of his coffee.

Kabe leaned closer towards Ryan.

"I trailed them to a house that didn't even look like a house. An old man walked passed me and I asked him who lived there and he laughed at me and told me it was the knock shop. I asked him what it was and he expected me to know what that meant."

Ryan slowly swallowed his coffee. He then looked him dead in the eye.

"You don't know what a knock shop is?"

"No. Why would I ask someone to explain something to me that I already know? What is it?"

Ryan cleared his throat, "It's where women, well females, sell their, ah, bodies," he explained.

"Oh," Kabe replied then leaned back.

He stared at his untouched coffee.

"The look on her face said she didn't want to be there," Kabe stated.

"So what are you going to do about that?" Ryan asked him seriously trusting Kabe's instinct.

Kabe looked him square in the face.

"I'm going to help her."

First of all I'm very sorry that I didn't get to update last Friday. School is so hectic now and I now it isn't going to get any less. So updates may either be every other Friday or Wednesday and/or on Wednesday or Friday. So updates all depend on how satisfied I am with the chapter which will be published either on Wednesdays or Fridays.

These last two chapters were meant to be short so don't think I purposely wrote two short chapters.

Do any of you go through your news feeds? Because I'll post on my Message Board when I'll be publishing a chapter so you all be able to know and I don't want to put a chapter just telling you guys that.

Any ideas how Kabe will assist Chantal?

And thank you a whole lot guys for getting this book ranked 751 in mystery/thriller. I would love to see this rise even higher so more persons can read about this very serious topic, so pleeeeeease,
