Twenty-Six

"So both of you knew what it was?!" Scott yelled as I took a small step away from him.

"I've only ever heard stories about it from my grandpa." I said as Derek clenched his jaw at the aggression from Scott.

"I only had a slight idea of what it was. But when it saw it's reflection I knew." He said as Scott frowned.

"It doesn't know what it is." Stiles stated the obvious.

"Or who it is." Scott added.

I walked down the hall towards my class, everyone shoving their way pst me until I was actually shoved into a locker.

"JESUS CHRI—"

"What the hell is a Kanima?" Jackson asked in a low voice as I looked down at him in surprise.

"What the hell are you taking about?" I asked as he scoffed.

"I know you're just like Scott. He wouldn't let you into his little group if you were normal. So what the hell is a Kanima?" He asked again as I stared deep into his eyes, before my own widened.

"Holy shit. You're asking because you think it's you?" I questioned as he scoffed again.

"No." He answered as I raised a brow.

"You're heart skipped a beat. You're lying."

Jackson stared at me in silence before he rolled his eyes. "Alright. Yeah I think it's me but I don't know what the hell I am."

I looked around the hall before dragging Jackson into our next class, whispering quietly. "A Kanima is like a lizard person. It's a shapeshifter."

"Like you and your werewolf nerds." Jackson commented as I deadpanned at him, looking over at Isaac and Erica.

"Yeah. Like me and my 'werewolf nerds.' Anyways. If you get bit, the whatever you're personality is, reflects what you become. For you, well you're an asshole snake so you became a Kanima."

"Fuck you. Continue." Jackson crossed his arms and I rolled my eyes in annoyance.

"A Kanima can create a really strong paralytic toxin." I started, noticing Jackson raise a brow in confusion. "It's like a weird goop the Kanima, uses to paralyze it's victims from the neck down."

"Paralyzed from the neck down. Do you have any idea what that's like?" Jackson turned to Stiles, who slowly looked over at me.

"I'm familiar with the sensation."

"It's not Lydia." I said as Stiles and Scott stopped, raising a brow inquisitively.

"How do you know?" Scott asked.

"Because Lydia is a good person... well... sort of. I mean she wouldn't threaten to kill someone. If Peter mauled her she would have turned into something different like a... like a werecoyote, or some other mythical creature that makes a lot of noise."

"So then who do you think it is?" Stiles asked as I shrugged.

"I think it's Jackson." I concluded as Stiles laughed.

"Seriously? Jackson? ...Well that's actually— kind of a good guess." Stiles put a hand on his hip, scratching his neck awkwardly as I chuckled.

"A good guess? Isn't it kind of obvious it's Jackson? The dude is a snake with legs— that's a lizard." I corrected myself as Scott held back a laugh before deadpanning.

"Okay so what if it is Jackson? We can't let Derek kill him." Scott said as Stiles seethed.

"Would it really be all that bad if he did?" Scott shot him a death glare. "Oh come on the guy's a dick! Plus Jackson's already killed a few people and almost killed me and Dean."

"We don't kill, Stiles." Scott glowered as I frowned.

"You mean you don't kill, Scott. If it came down to someone I cared about's safety or my own... I'd kill someone." Scott gave me a questionable look as he shook his head.

"We won't have this conversation right now. We need to get to class."

I stared up at the mantle, looking at the two urns in disparity, my thumb messing with the new ring on my finger.

"Do you think someone will be mad we won't actually have a funeral?" Jeremy asked as he rolled a small car back and fourth on the ground. My head bent down to look at him, a sigh escaping my lips.

"Probably." I answered, looking back up at the photos of my mom and dad. "But it's not our problem anymore..." Jeremy stopped rolling the car around, turning to look up at me with tears eyes.

"Are they gonna take me away?" He croaked out as I quickly got down on the floor, my hand rubbing his arm comfortingly.

"No! No of course not, Jeremy. I'll make sure they don't. You and I will be together for as long as you want." I forced a smile as Jeremy nodded slowly, leaning over and hugging me tightly.

"Can you tell me another story?" He asked as I sighed and nodded, the two of us going to his bedroom to put him to bed.

After I had tucked Jeremy in, I slowly sat down on his bed, turning to him with a smile. "Do you want another one I found or a story book?"

"One you found." Jeremy mumbled as I nodded.

"I used to be afraid of falling in love. Because everything that falls gets broken. But still, I'd throw myself over a Cliff for this boy even if I knew I'd shatter. He is the sun I need when it's dark, and the moon I need when I need to find my way home. And loving him is the most exquisite form of self-destruction." Jeremy gave me an inquisitive look before chuckling to himself, and I raised a brow. "What?"

"You made that one up, didn't you?" He giggled as I looked away and laughed, nodding.

"Maybe some of it." I whispered as Jeremy stood up.

"Is it about Stiles?" He asked as my head snapped to my little brother, whose eyes cleaned with delight in the moon light. And I smiled and took in a breath.

"Yeah... it is." I confirmed, tucking Jeremy back in bed.

"I like Stiles... he's nice to you." Jeremy slurred out as he grew tired. "He's funny, too."

I rubbed Jeremy's shoulder, nodding with a hum. "Yes he is. Goodnight, Jeremy."

"Goodnight, Dean."

Not Dean admitting he loves Stiles<3
