Forty-One

I know I was supposed to hate Matt for almost killing me, but I couldn't help but feel remorse for his family as I watched the body bag get shoved into a corner's truck.

"Gerard killed him. He had to of, right? Matt wouldn't just.. slip and drown." I asked Stiles, who cleared his throat and nodded.

"Well, look at it this way. At least the blood isn't on your hands. You haven't killed anyone so... you're still sane." Stiles tried to force a smile as I scoffed.

"For now. I just— I wanted Matt to feel the pain my brother felt. To know the loss I had to go through. And I can't get that chance when he's dead." I felt even worse for speaking the truth about Matt.

I hated him for what he did to me, but he deserved it. He deserved death more than Jeremy did. Jeremy deserved a good childhood with nothing to bring him sadness or pain.

Matt deserved nothing but pain and suffering. I hoped he was burning in hell as I was thinking about it.

"Dean? You alright?" I turned my head back to Stiles, whose hand rubbed my shoulder. I cracked a forced smile and nodded.

"Yeah. I'll be alright. I finally got what I wanted." Stiles raised a brow and tilted his head in confusion. "Jeremy's true killer is gone now. I don't have to worry about stopping the Kanima anymore."

"Ms Morrell I'd really love to talk about empathy and feeling sorry for a kid that almost drowned 10 years ago, but we are also talking about the kid that killed my brother." I leaned back against my chair as Ms Morrell tilted her head in confusion.

"I thought it was an animal attack?" She asked as my eyes widened, and I quickly straightened up.

"Right. Yeah uh... an animal that Matt let in. It almost killed me, too, Y'know so I'd rather not talk about it." I quickly stood up as the guidance counselor looked up at me.

"Well. One good thing came out of this situation, right?"

"You mean the part where I'm dating a guy? Sure, that's pretty positive." I shoved my hands into my jacket pockets as Morrell chuckled, standing up.

"Alright, well. I guess I'll see you later. Goodbye, Mr. Edric."

"It's Dean. The whole 'Mr. Edric' makes me feel like an old gay grandpa." I smiled as she hummed, watching me leave. I shut the door tightly and sighed, rubbing my eyes and walked back to class.

I stared down at the freshly dug up grave for Matt, a look of utter disgust written on my face.

The pictures of Allison he had, the fact he thought it was okay to kill Jeremy because he saw too much. And him trying to kill Stiles on his last night on Earth.

I spat on his grave, turning on my heel and walking away as Stiles started up the Jeep. "So what was the need to visit a grave that hasn't been filled yet?"

"Just... 'paying my respects." I said, sighing and leaning back in the seat as Stiles scoffed.

"Yeah. Like you'd pay respects to a jackass like Matt."

"What can I say? I'm humbling him in the afterlife." I smiled as he rolled his eyes, driving out of the cemetery.

"Peter? Whose Peter?" I asked, raising a brow to Derek, who sighed. The man in question gave me an offended look and placed a hand over his heart.

"My uncle."

"You mean the guy you killed to get your Aloha powers? That uncle?" I questioned as Derek nodded. "You slit his throat how are you alive?"

"I'd like to say 'reanimated' is a good word to use." Peter forced a smile as I frowned.

"And I'd like to use the word zombie." I commented as he glared at me, pointing.

"I kinda like you. You have this... fire in your eyes. I had that once. And it was literal." Peter mentioned as I raised a brow at his joke.

"Just— what do you want?" Derek interrupted as Peter sighed.

"I need your help."

"And I need a latte. Goodbye everyone." I quickly ran out of the house to avoid Derek's orders of me to stay, slipping into my car and driving off.

I'd love to get to know about Peter and why everyone hates him so much, but do I want to sit there for 2 and a half hours listening to him and Derek bicker?

I'd rather drive off a cliff .

Sorry for the short chapter again! I'm getting close to finishing Season 2 which means there's a chance we are getting a book 2 for S3! AND THAT MEANS DEAN AND VOID SCENES WHICH I AM DEFINITELY EXCITED FOR IF I WANT A BOOK 2.

But anyways, I hope you all have enjoyed this book as much as I have, and I apologize for the recent slow updates since I did get a job recently and never have time to write. But I'll see y'all again in a day or two :)))
