Chapter 8

At the boys' house...

Ten and Xiali arrives at the house. The two of them starts walking to the kitchen to make dinner, which Xiali insisted that she wants to help Ten with cooking.

"What are you cooking?" Xiali ask as she watches Ten mixing up some vegetables and chopped chickens.

"I'm trying to stir fry vegetables with seasoned chickens," says Ten as he continues to stir fry the vegetables and chickens.

"Looks good," says Xiali as she continue to stir some eggs on a bowl, since she's planning to make a sponge cake for dessert.

"Well, not as good as you," Ten says as he turns his head for a moment to give Xiali a wink.

This guy is such a flirt. Xiali thought as she roll her eyes.

"You always know how to smooth talk, even when you're cooking," Xiali says.

"I'm not smooth talking though. I'm just saying what's in my heart," says Ten with a sassy tone.

"Yeah right," says Xiali as she puts a spoon of sugar to the bowl. "And you actually thought I would believe that?"

"Why not?" Ten says with a cheeky smile. "I'm being honest."

"Honest in showing that you truly are too good with your words," Xiali says.

Ten forms a small smile after hearing Xiali's statement.

She's so cute. Ten thought.

After a while, Ten and Xiali eventually finish cooking the dishes for tonight's dinner. They had cooked various dishes such as stir fried vegetables mix with chickens, dumplings, and red bean soup. For dessert, Xiali had cooked a sponge cake covered with chocolate syrup.

Ten and Xiali sits down as they have dinner together and drink white wine. Both of them enjoy the dishes they have cooked, and are having a good time as they share stories to one another.

"So you often go back to Bangkok to visit your family?" ask Xiali.

"Yes. I visit them a few times a year," says Ten before he takes a sip of his white wine.

The two talk about a lot of topics together, until they both finish their dinner. Ten starts to clean the table, in which Xiali insisted to help.

"All done," Xiali says as she walks out of the kitchen. She sees that the bottle of white wine is still on the dining table.

"How about if we continue our drink with a different scenery?" ask Ten as he walks out of the kitchen and into the dining room.

"Where?" Xiali ask.

"The garden," says Ten.

"Oh ok," says Xiali.

Ten and Xiali walks to the back of the house. Ten and Xiali takes a seat on two chairs that are placed near the back door of the house, where they can have a good view of the garden. Xiali's eyes starts to observe the garden, looking mesmerized by its beauty. Meanwhile, Ten pours two glass of white wine and gives one to Xiali.

"Cheers," says Ten, before he and Xiali starts to take a sip of their white wine.

Ten and Xiali takes a seat on the chairs near the door as they continue to talk. After a while, the two eventually get tipsier as they drink more and more, as Ten continues to tell Xiali his story of meeting the boys and being a part of the gang.

"So, you were in Fuzhou before?" ask Ten as he is already a bit tipsy at this point, yet he can still control it.

"Yeah, but my family and I moved to Shanghai eventually," says Xiali with a tipsy tone before she takes another sip of her white wine. "What about you? Tell me more about yourself."

"Well, my family and I moved to Bangkok when I was 5 years old. My dad started a business and well I start to adapt and grew up there," says Ten.

"I see," says Xiali as she takes another sip of her white wine. "So...how did you end up meeting the guys?"

"Yangyang and I had known each other since we were both little. We were quite close, until my family and I had to move to Bangkok," says Ten. "We still kept in touch though. Sometimes our families would meet up every time my family and I went to Fuzhou."

Ten takes another sip of his white wine as he starts to get more and more tipsy. "As for Kun and Xiaojun, I actually met them through Yangyang a few years ago in Fuzhou," says Ten as he starts to look more and more tipsy.

Xiali notice that Ten suddenly became silent. He suddenly has a sad expression written on his face as he gets more tipsy.

"Before I met them, I was a part time gangster myself back in Bangkok," says Ten. "When I was 15, I met a girl at a friend's party. She was 2 years older than me and was very beautiful. I told myself it was love at first sight, and other than that, she was my first love," Ten adds as he is trying hard to hold the sadness as he didn't want to cry in front of Xiali.

"I see. What happened?" ask Xiali as she stares at Ten who looks drunk and sad at the same time.

"Her name was Fai. We eventually started dating, though my parents were against our relationship. They didn't like me going out with her due to her background, though I would still see her every now and then," says Ten. "One day, my dad found out about me still seeing her. Since that, I was grounded. He took away my phone and I wasn't allow to go anywhere expect school."

Ten lets out a sigh. "One day, I've had enough and decided to escape school and went to her place," says Ten as he struggles to hold back the tears that slowly starts to form in his eyes. "But it was too late."

"What happened?" ask Xiali.

"When I arrived, she was being attacked by a man. She didn't make it," says Ten. "I tried to chase after the man, but he had ran away."

"I was a fool. I couldn't protect her," says Ten. "I was so depressed, I talked to my friend Bambam about it. To my surprise, he actually offered to help me out in finding this guy and giving him a taste of his own medicine."

"How?" ask Xiali.

"I found out that Bambam is a gangster himself. He offered me to join his team in which I accepted. We eventually found the guy and finish him to death," Ten says.

"Oh," Xiali says while feeling a bit surprised.

"Since that, I got addicted in the gangster life. I wanted to teach people who ruined other people's life a big lesson. Bambam eventually help make an excuse to my parents to let me leave home every night, and because my parents thought I was probably over Fai, they let me," says Ten. "But well, my parents eventually found out about me being in a gang. They got furious and start to worry that my actions could get me into trouble. I got depressed since they grounded me again and forbid me to see Bambam. They even had to home schooled me because they were so worried."

Ten puts down his now empty glass of white wine. "Finally, when I went to college, they start to worry that I'll get in contact with Bambam again. And so, they decided to send me off to Shanghai. When I got to Shanghai, I contacted Yangyang and we meet up to catch up on things. He also introduced me to Kun and Xiaojun. At the time he also told me that he was looking for his childhood friend, which was you. They offered me to join the gang, which I happily accept. Regarding this, they agreed to not let my family know about it," says Ten. "That's the story."

"Ten," Xiali says with a low tone as she is still surprised after hearing Ten's story. "I'm so sorry..."

"It's not your fault. Please stop apologizing for things that are not even your fault," Ten says as he touches his head. Xiali could tell he's already pretty drunk now.

Xiali became silent as she watches Ten in his drunk state. She was surprised by what just she just heard. She never expected someone with a flirty charm like Ten could have such a deep story. For a moment, she really feels bad for him, and wants to make him feel better and care for him.

"Ten, you look drunk. Let me take you in," says Xiali as she gets up and pulls Ten from the chair. She gently drags him back inside the house and puts him down on the couch.

"I'll make a some tea for you," Xiali says, before she walks to the kitchen to make some tea.

Meanwhile...

Winwin stops his car in front of Yiren's house. Though he's feeling a bit tipsy, he knew he still had to take her home safely. To him, it's more of a responsible thing as a man towards a woman.

Yiren glance at Winwin who looks tipsy and tired at this point. "Do you wanna come in?" Yiren ask.

"No. I need to go back home," Winwin says in a tipsy tone.

"You're drunk and tired," Yiren says. "Just come in. My parents won't mind."

"No, thank you. I gotta go back home," Winwin says as he tries his best to regain his energy by reminding himself.

With that final word, Yiren walks out of the car. She watches Winwin drives and leaves the neighborhood, before letting out a sigh.

Seems like he still has things on his mind. He can't seem to forget it. Yiren thought.

Yiren walks back inside her house with a disappointed heart.

At the boys' house...

Xiali pours a cup of tea and gives it to Ten. He had been lying down on the couch looking badly drunk.

"Here," Xiali says as she hands Ten the cup of tea.

Ten takes the cup of tea from Xiali and sips it gently. His head was still spinning and his body felt exhausted.

"Thanks," Ten says.

"No problem," says Xiali. "You don't have to take me home tonight. You're drunk. Besides, I can stay here and look after you."

"It's ok. I don't want to get you in trouble with your mom," Ten says.

"It's fine, Ten. I'll just tell my mom I'm staying at a friend's place. For now, let's just get you to bed," Xiali says as she pulls Ten up from the couch and drags him upstairs to his room. She puts him on his bed and covers him with a blanket.

"Goodnight, Ten," Xiali says, before she closes the door, leaving Ten drunk on the bed and waiting to fall asleep.

11:45 PM....

At Pearlize Night Club, Hong Kong...

It has been a crowded night at Pearlize Night Club, where people would come to let loose after a hard day's work. It has been known to be one of the best places to get lost if you want to grab a drink, dance a little, and maybe find a random hookup to take home for the night. Other than that, it is also known to be one of the favorite spots for gangsters to have a chill drink at night.

A tall guy wearing a white shirt and black jeans can be seen walking through the crowd with a bottle of whisky in his hand. He could see that a lot of ladies at the club have their eyes on him, yet he didn't care much and only gave them flirty glance at some points. He finally reach his table where his friends are waiting for him.

"Cheers to the 3rd bottle of the night!" says the guy, Lucas, as he holds the bottle high with an excited face. "Let's get this party going!"

"Wait, Ge! Let's turn this up with a different kind of music," says his younger brother, Hendery.

"Up to you, Bro!" says Lucas as he takes a seat in between his friends, Jackson and Yuqi.

Hendery starts walking to the DJ and request to change the songs into his favorite remixes.

"How about if we turn things hotter since my friends and I are up for a celebration?" says Hendery to the DJ.

"Ah, coming right up, Mr Wong!" says the DJ.

Hendery walks back to the table with a smile as he sees his friends are having another round of a drinking game.

"Woah, what did I miss?" ask Hendery as he takes a seat beside his friend, Tao.

"Nothing. We were just about to start another round of the drinking game," says one of their friends, Elkie.

"Ah, but I think Lucas is probably gonna win this game again," Jackson says before he takes another sip of his whisky.

"Lucas is the king of drinks," says Yuqi as she puts her arm on Lucas's shoulder. "I doubt any of you guys could beat him."

"Hey! I'm his brother and let me tell you that I'm just as strong as he is in drinking," says Hendery.

"The last time you didn't even finish your fifth glass," Tao says, before he burst into a big laughter along with his friends.

"Hey! I'll show you guys just how strong I really am tonight," Hendery says, before he takes the bottle of whisky and drinks it, making all his friends look in surprise.

"Woahhh....Go, Hendery!" Elkie cheers.

"Damn, my little bro is growing up!" Lucas says as he claps his hands for Hendery.

The six friends continue with their game while getting lost in the moment.
Hendery ends up dancing in the middle of the dance floor, while Elkie and Tao are spending some time together, and Jackson fell asleep on the sofa.

"Looks like Hendery finally beat you in drinking," Yuqi says as she sits on Lucas's lap while facing him. "Are you sad about it?"

"Nah, I'm happy that my bro could beat me in something. That means he's growing up," Lucas says as he puts his hands on Yuqi's waist. "Besides, I still think I'm the real winner here.."

"Why?" ask Yuqi with a small yet flirty smile.

"Because I have you," Lucas says as he continues to stare into Yuqi's eyes. He starts getting closer to her until their lips meet each other, making the night feel longer.

To be continue...
