"Snakes?" I asked quietly. Zane must've heard me as he looked up, seemingly on edge.

"Violet, did you see a serpentine? Where was it?" He asks, still looking around.

Even I knew what serpentine were. Sometimes Father would have one or two over, though I never knew any of them personally. I looked back into the shadows and locked eyes with it. Good thing about my powers? I can see perfectly well in pitch darkness, unless it's a special type of magic.

We stood still, both wondering what to do. I had a powerful group of ninja behind me, but I had no clue how many of them there were.

Should I have waited and asked the rest? Probably.

I charged, already preparing my powers for a fight. I've been waiting to have a good combat for a while now and I was taking it out on this guy.

I heard the ninja yelling but of course I ignored them. I got two of my orbs ready and threw them at the Serpentine as he tried to run away. I got a closer look, and it seems he was a hypnobrine, though I couldn't be certain.

I continue running as I hear he unfamiliar sound of people behind me.
