Chapter 17

Third person's pov

In the quiet passage of three weeks, Mrs. Lee and Taewon returned home, leaving Taehyung to tend to Jungkook's wounded spirit. Each day unfolded in a gentle rhythm.

Taehyung made sure Jungkook took his medicines on time, everyday he made special dishes for Jungkook and often took him outside for a walk.

Taehyung, understood that sometimes, the simplest acts held the power to mend the deepest wounds.

Jungkook's world had grown quiet, words scarce, yet Taehyung's presence spoke volumes. He barely even spoke a word to Taehyung but Taehyung's presence felt a light in the world of darkness.

Amidst these routine moments, Taehyung's eyes held a silent understanding. He didn't push for conversation, recognizing that healing had its own pace.

Instead, he painted the days with gestures-a reassuring touch, a warm meal, a shared silence.

Now it was 29th January......

The room was bathed in the warm glow of the evening sun, casting a comforting ambiance. Jungkook sat by the window, his gaze fixated on the outside world. Taehyung entered the room.

"Jungkook, dinner is ready," Taehyung said, breaking Jungkook's silent reverie. Jungkook nodded and they both made their way towards the dining room.

Taehyung served the meal. The clinking of utensils echoed in the room as Jungkook took a cautious bite. Taehyung watched him closely, awaiting a response.

"Is it good?" Taehyung asked,

Jungkook nodded, a subtle acknowledgment. The silence persisted until Jungkook finally spoke, his words stumbling but breaking a long spell of quietude. "C-can I a-as-sk yo-ou a qu-uesti-ion?"

"Of course," Taehyung replied, his eyes reflecting surprise and relief. It was the first time Jungkook had spoken a full sentence in weeks.

"H-ho-ow di-id yo-ou fo-ound out ab-bout the o-old m-man?" Jungkook said,

Taehyung took a deep breath, before saying, "I went to that place, hoping to find some evidence. When I saw him sitting alone and crying, I approached him, offered him water. He drank it, and then I asked if he was there that night or saw anything related. That's when he told me everything."

Jungkook's gaze lowered, processing the revelation. Taehyung reached across the table, placing a comforting hand on Jungkook's.

After a couple of minutes, they were done eating.

The clinking of culinary echoed through the kitchen as Taehyung washed the dishes. He was lost in the rhythmic motion of cleaning,

Suddenly, he sensed a presence behind him. Turning slightly, Taehyung was met with the surprising sight of Jungkook tentatively approaching.

His eyes widened in genuine surprise; because in these weeks Jungkook only came out of the room for eating and on going walks.

"C-Can I he-elp?" Jungkook's voice was soft, almost a whisper,

"You don't need to, I can do them, you should rest Jungkook," Taehyung replied softly.

Jungkook's hopeful expression dimmed, and he started to withdraw, heading back towards the room. Taehyung's realization hit him like a jolt.

"NO wait! You can help me if you want," he called out, a touch of urgency in his voice.

Jungkook hesitated for a moment before turning back, He cautiously approached the sink, standing next to Taehyung. The warm water cascaded over their hands as they began to wash the dishes together.

Taehyung stole glances at Jungkook, observing the way he methodically scrubbed each plate. The silence in the kitchen was broken only by the occasional splashes of water and the clinks of dishes.

Taehyung couldn't help but smile at the subtle transformation.

"You're doing great," Taehyung complimented, wanting to encourage Jungkook.

Jungkook glanced at Taehyung, a small smile playing on his lips.

As the last dish was washed and set aside, Taehyung turned off the tap and then turned to Jungkook.

" Now, let's go for the walk."

Jungkook nodded.

The crisp evening air enveloped them as they stepped out of the house,

"Nice weather today, huh?" Taehyung ventured, attempting to steer the conversation toward the casual. He couldn't help but feel a glimmer of excitement at Jungkook's willingness to engage.

Jungkook, eyes focused on the path ahead, nodded in agreement. It was a small response, but to Taehyung, it felt like a big progress. Encouraged, he continued, "I saw that cat again near our doorstep. The one with the fluffy tail. Remember?"

A subtle twitch at the corner of Jungkook's lips hinted at recognition. "Ye-eah," he replied, his voice a whisper carried away by the gentle breeze.

As they strolled along the familiar route, Taehyung observed Jungkook's posture gradually easing. The once rigid shoulders seemed to loosen, and his steps became less hesitant.

Taehyung noticed Jungkook's shoelaces hanging loose, trailing along the pavement. "Hold on, Jungkook," Taehyung said, gesturing for him to stop.

Jungkook complied, and as he stood still, Taehyung knelt down to tie the laces. Taehyung's fingers deftly worked, securing the laces with care. Jungkook watched him with Doe eyes,

"There you go," Taehyung said, rising to his feet. The moment lingered, a silent understanding passing between them.

The next day.........

As Taehyung left for some worl, Jungkook found himself alone in the house. He sat on the sofa, contemplating the recent changes. Thoughts raced through his mind as he mumbled to himself,

"No-ow Tae-eh-hyu-ung w-wil-ll ag-gain g-get bus-sy in hi-is wo-orks. He wo-on't ha-ave tim-me fo-or Ko-oo ag-gain."

Jungkook glanced around, feeling a mix of emotions. He'd grown accustomed to Taehyung's constant presence,

His fingers traced patterns on the sofa, a nervous habit that had developed during the days when the world seemed dark. He looked out of the window, the world beyond appearing both distant and indifferent.

Jungkook took a deep breath,

In the midst of his contemplation, Jungkook's own voice broke the silence, soft yet filled with a tinge of melancholy,

"Ko-oo, yo-ou ne-eed hi-im rig-ght no-ow. Taeh-hyun-ng ha-as bee-en ther-re for yo-ou, b-but no-ow..." He trailed off, the unspoken words hanging in the air.

After 1 hour.....

Taehyung returned home, eager to share the surprise he had planned for Jungkook. Opening the front door, he stepped inside, his eyes scanning the familiar surroundings.

He could hear faint sounds-perhaps Jungkook moving around in the living room.

As he entered, he found Jungkook sitting on the sofa, his gaze fixed on the window, lost in his thoughts. Taehyung approached him with a warm smile, holding back his excitement. "Hey, Jungkook. I'm back," he announced, his voice gentle.

Jungkook turned his head, his eyes meeting Taehyung's. "We-elco-ome ba-ack," Jungkook replied softly,

"I've got something for you," he said, pulling a small, wrapped box from behind his back. He handed it to Jungkook, who accepted it with a quizzical look.

Jungkook examined the box, fingers delicately unwrapping the paper. Taehyung observed him closely, his own excitement bubbling beneath the surface.

As Jungkook opened the box, revealing a key inside, Taehyung couldn't help but grin.

"It's a key," Jungkook remarked, looking up at Taehyung,

Taehyung nodded, his grin widening. "Not just any key. It's the key to a special place I've prepared for you."

Taehyung gestured for him to follow, and they made their way to the car.

The drive was filled with a comfortable silence. Taehyung stole glances at Jungkook, wondering how he would react to the surprise. The car pulled up in front of the building, and Taehyung led Jungkook inside.

Taehyung beamed with excitement as they approached the small apartment. He could hardly contain the surprise he had planned for Jungkook. Opening the door, he ushered Jungkook inside, who looked around with wide-eyed curiosity.

The space was a blend of simplicity and creativity. An easel stood in one corner, surrounded by an array of canvases, paintbrushes, and vibrant paints. The aroma of fresh paint lingered in the air, creating an inviting atmosphere. Taehyung gestured towards the art studio and said, "Surprise! This is your own little art studio."

Jungkook's eyes widened in amazement, taking in the sight of the art supplies neatly organized. He gasped softly, completely caught off guard.

Seeing the kitchen and living room, Jungkook's confusion grew. Taehyung chuckled, "Well, it's not just for art. I thought you might need rest after painting or would feel hungry."

The apartment:

Jungkook's eyes softened, and a small smile played on his lips. Taehyung felt a sense of relief; "Do you like it?" Taehyung asked, his voice soft.

Jungkook nodded, the sincerity in his expression making Taehyung's heart flutter. He walked around the room, inspecting the art supplies, running his fingers over the canvases.

As Jungkook explored the space, Taehyung said, "I spoke to aunt, and she mentioned you enjoy art. I thought this would make you feel better."

Jungkook turned to Taehyung, " T-Th-han-nk y-you."

After exploring the apartment completely, Jungkook started painting.

Jungkook sat in front of the canvas, his brush gliding over the surface with deliberate strokes,

Taehyung observed from a comfortable distance, the warmth of his love evident in the way he gazed at his husband.

Jungkook glanced at Taehyung and thought that Taehyung might be getting bored."D-d-do you wa-ant t-to dr-raw wit-th me?" Jungkook said.

Taehyung's response was immediate, a nod accompanied by puppy eyes that melted Jungkook's heart. Moving closer, Taehyung picked up a spare brush and joined Jungkook in front of the canvas.

"Yo-ou ca-an pai-int som-me flo-owe-ers here," Jungkook said, his voice gentle.

Taehyung focused on the canvas, mirroring Jungkook's strokes. As he painted, a sudden sneeze caught him off guard.

Without thinking, he rubbed his nose with his hand, forgetting it was adorned with fresh paint. The vibrant colors smeared across his nose,

Jungkook's laughter filled the room, a melody of joy that echoed against the walls. Taehyung's breath caught as he witnessed the beauty in Jungkook's laughter. " beautiful," he managed to say, his eyes reflecting admiration.

Amidst the laughter, Taehyung confessed in his mind, "I would paint my nose every day if you laugh like this."
