TWENTY THREE
'Ow, I just got a papercut!' Ted said, sticking his finger in his mouth.
'From what?' Gemma whispered disinterestedly.
'From the lexicon of pain and confusion.'
'Please stop calling the HoM textbook that,' Luke whispered.
'It's so boring though!' Ted complained loudly, and Iz and Luke both shushed him.
'Shut up,' Gemma whispered. 'Binns is a ghost, so don't piss him off. He might like, haunt us or something.'
'Quiet over there,' Binns said, before going back to sleep. Gemma hadn't even known ghosts could sleep.
'By the way, how is it going with Avery?' She asked Iz, who shrugged in response.
'Meh,' she said. 'The snogging is good, I guess, but he isn't really very interesting.'
'Exactly!' Ted said loudly. All three of his friends kicked him under the table, and he dropped his voice. 'I could totally do so much better than that loser.'
'Um, no you couldn't,' Iz said. 'I do have standards Teddy.'
'Clearly not if your with Blythe Avery,' Luke commented, but quickly went back to his worksheet when she gave him a deathly glare.
Gemma turned, feeling a heat seeking glare on the back if her head. She traced it to Regulus Black, who looked away quickly. She narrowed her eyes.
'If you have you have something to say then say it,' she said loudly. This attracted a few stares, and Regulus narrowed his eyes.
'I have nothing to say to you,' he hissed. Luke glanced worriedly at Binns, but luckily he was still fast asleep, apparently finding his own lesson just as boring as his students did.
'Leave off,' Ted muttered, glaring at Regulus. 'He really isn't worth it.'
'I'm not worth it? Says the boy that got twenty percent on his end-of-years Arithmancy last year,' Regulus announced to the class. 'Bottom of the class, weren't you? Lower than Crabbe.' This earned a few snickers among the Ravenclaws, and a particularly loud one from Luciana. Ted went bright red.
'You take that back!' Iz snapped, glaring at him fiercly.
'Er, it's a fact not an opinion Iz... I don't think he can take it back...'
'Shut up, Luke!' She snapped. Finally, Binns woke up.
'Silence over there!' He droned, and Iz sat back down, a smirk of satisfaction spreading across Regulus' face. He raised an eyebrow maliciously at Gemma, and she made a face at him.
The lesson finally ended, and the four left the classroom.
'God, I told you that guy was a piece of shit,' Iz said as they walked. 'I never liked him.'
'I don't understand how he suddenly changed so much,' Luke argued. 'He wasn't like this before.'
'Hey, Greengrass!' Avery came up to them and put his arm around Iz, while Mulciber and Snape also joined them.
'Regulus!' Mulciber beckoned him over, and he obliged, purposefully not looking in Gemma's direction. Suits me, she thought.
'How's it going?' Snape asked him, and Regulus shrugged.
'Hey!' he said suddenly, grabbing the hood of a random second- year Ravenclaw, who had accidentally knocked shoulders with him. 'Where you going kid?'
'Leave him alone,' Gemma hissed. This just egged him on further. He pushed the boy, who stumbled away, and grabbed his bag.
'Your mother's a muggle, isn't she? Got any muggle stuff in here?' He taunted, emptying the contents onto the floor. Avery and Snape stood guffawing like idiots, Iz looked mildly amused, and Ted and Luke looked annoyed. Gemma moved to stop him, but Mulciber stopped her. She followed his gaze to see Elladora walking towards Regulus, who turned sharply to face her.
'Reg,' she said, as he stared at her in shock.
'Elladora,' he said smiling, his shoulders relaxing, and Gemma saw the façade he'd put up begin to crumble. 'When did you wake up?'
'Can I talk to you? Alone?' She persisted, clearly confused at his drastic personality change. Welcome to the club.
'Whatever you have to say, you can say in front of all of us,' Iz whispered. Gemma glared at her and she winked mischievously; she was trying to cause trouble.
'Fine.' Elladora glared at Regulus. 'Why were you tormenting first- years? I thought that we were-'
'Why wasn't he tormenting first years is the real question,' Mulciber interrupted, making his way to the front of the group.
'I'm not speaking to you,' she said, but Mulciber moved to stand in front of Regulus.
'You are now.'
'I'd rather speak with Avery,' she said, taking both boys in question by surprise. Regulus- who was standing there like an idiot- was pulled back by Luke.
'You really don't want to get in the middle of this,' he murmured.
'What do you want?' Avery said, looking extremely nervous.
'He is so shitting himself,' Gemma whispered to Iz, who nodded, eyeing her boyfriend with distaste.
'What did you do to me?' Elladora asked, tilting her head. RIP Avery, you will missed, Gemma thought.
'What?' Avery said like an idiot.
'I said, what did you do to me,' She repeated, taking a step closer to them. Fly high angel, gone but never forgotten.
'I told you Avery was a loser,' Ted whispered to Iz. 'Break up with him!'
'Oh hush,' Iz grumbled, clearly not enjoying the confrontation she had created.
Their attention was drawn back to the argument when there was loud resounding slap. Elladora had slapped Avery.
'Yes!' Gemma exclaimed, attracting the attention of a few spectators, who had begun to gather.
'Oh shit,' Luke mumbled. Gemma followed his gaze to see Sirius Black and his gang of crazy Gryffindors following, looking rather annoyed.
Slap. This time it was Avery that had hit Elladora.
'What the hell,' Iz breathed disapprovingly.
Gemma was about to say something too her, probably BREAK UP WITH HIM, when a fist came flying, colliding with Avery's nose. It was Sirius Black.
Gemma watched in awe as a full blown fight commenced. Potter dealt with Mulciber, and Elladora decided to jump onto Snape's back, making him spin in circles trying to get her off.
'Okay, that's our sign to leave,' Luke said, grabbing Ted's wrist- the boy was too busy watching the fight with his mouth hanging open- and dragging him away. Iz and Gemma followed, and she saw Regulus also fleeing the scene.

'You have got to stop creating conflicts just because you are bored,' Luke reprimanded Iz, as they sat in their usual spot in the common room. 'This, the one in muggle London, the one in First year against Malfoy where we all got totally destroyed-'
'I know,' she whined. 'I didn't think this one would become physical! Poor Blythe...'
'You're still defending him?' Ted said in shock.
'Well, yeah, he is my boyfriend, I will talk to him about that slap though-'
'Talk to him about not being a git too, please-'
'Oh shut up, you're just jealous-'
'You bet I am, because-'
'It's never going to happen-'
'I'm gonna go to bed,' Gemma interrupted. Their bickering was giving her a headache.
'No, stay,' Luke ordered. 'I am not going to be left alone with these two.'
Regulus walked in, Luciana clinging to his arm like her life depended on it.
'On second thought,' Luke's voice trailed off, but Gemma got the message. Rolling her eyes, she stood up and left, trying her very best not to look back at the boy who was doing his very best not to look at her.
