Sitting next to Gwen Stacy out in the bleachers of the school field, looking out and watching the football practice. Gwen holds a clear, miniature bottle holding the spider that bit the Parker boy the day he went to the Oscorp tower.
"It's so beautiful," Gwen says, twisting and turning the clear container to admire the dead arachnid.
"It's got a bite though." Peter quips with a slight smile as he turns to look at the blonde.
"Who else knows about this?" Gwen asks. Peter's stomach dips at the question, his chest growing heavy with guilt. Gwen is the only one that knows he's the masked vigilante known as Spider-Man. He wishes Zoee was the first one to know since they're best friends and they share everything, no secrets kept between them.
This is one of the hugest secrets he's kept from the Atkins girl, the other being that he was falling in love with her. Those are the only two and they're eating him alive. But he promised himself that he is going to protect his best friend, no matter the cost, even if it meant losing her completely as a close friend.
Peter realizes he's taken too long to respond to Gwen so he snaps out of his thoughts. "Just you." He whispers, forcing a small smile to keep the conversation between them friendly and flirty.
"Really?" Gwen gasps before smiling, a dimple indenting her right cheek as she does.
Peter nods shyly, looking down. "Hey you don't...you don't believe what the police are saying, do you?"
"Of course not." The blonde whispers. "Does it scare you, what you can do?"
"No," Peter genuinely smiles. "No."
With these new spider-like powers that Peter has, he feels more free in a way. He also feels a weight on his shoulders though. If he has those powers and does nothing to protect the city he lives in, he will blame himself for not trying to stop the crimes happening. He now lives by the words his Uncle Ben told him; With great power, comes great responsibility.
"What did the thing on the bridge look like?" Gwen asks.
"Real big. Too big to be human."
"You gotta lay low," Gwen warns. Peter shakes his head.
"No, can't do that."
"But you've got to. I mean, why?"
"'Cause of last night," Peter explains, looking into her green eyes before looking back down to his lap. "Those people on the bridge, whatever is attacking them, would've killed them. So I gotta, I gotta go after it."
"But that's not your job." Gwen Stacy pleads.
"Maybe it is." Peter nods before quickly deciding to change the subject. "I really liked kissing you. You're an amazing kisser." He shyly smiles. He means what he says but he's actually smiling, imagining how Zoee would kiss, how her soft-looking lips would feel against his. He wishes it was her he kissed instead.
Gwen laughs softly, looking away and flushing red. She then looks back at Peter, trying to play it off cool. Peter notices. "Well, you know, it was...it was good for me too."
"Yeah?" Peter whispers, scooting closer to the Stacy girl and letting his mind focus on the blonde, his thoughts of Zoee slowly disappearing.
"Mhmm." Gwen hums and copies Peter, moving closer and leaning in. Their lips almost touch when all of a sudden, Peter feels his spider-sense go off. Without looking, Peter catches a football that was hurdling towards their direction. He throws the ball back as hard as he can and then hears a loud clang! Both him and Gwen turn to look where the noise came from and see the yellow football post bent where the ball hit. The football team stares at Peter in shock while the couple on the bleachers stare wide-eyed at the damage.

During Peter's free track at school, he decided to go to the Oscorp tower to visit Dr. Conners and try to and get information on how to track lizards, aka, the giant lizard roaming New York. The tower was eerily quiet and empty as Peter tried looking for the scientist. He entered his office and found an injection tube of some sort sitting on one of his desks. The Parker boy was then caught by Curtis Conners making him jump and turn towards him. The biochemist told him that he gave the employees of the tower a week off which made Peter kind of suspicious. As they chatted and Peter asked questions about the cold-blooded creatures, Peter noticed lizard-like scales on Dr. Conners's neck.
After he was escorted out of the office and right before Peter left the building, Peter heard strange noises coming from behind a desk outside the scientist's office. He slowly approached the noise and found a glass cage on the grey desk, the corner broken and bloody. On the floor he then found a rat shifting into a lizard; the same rat Peter and Dr. Conners successfully grew back its leg. That's when Peter knew that the scientist was the lizard, based on the injection tube filled with the liquid they injected the rat with, and the rat/lizard creature.
As soon as Peter left the building and noticed he still had time in his free track, he rushed to the police office to talk to Captain Stacy. When he found the captain, he quickly explained how he knew who the lizard was and when Gwen's dad heard who Peter assumed it was, he began to ridicule him. Peter kept insisting but was then soon escorted out of the police station by another officer. Little did Peter know that as soon as he was shown out, Captain Stacy started an investigation on Dr. Curt Conners.
Making his way to the subway to go back to school, Peter's spider-sense started to tingle. He looked over and saw a lizard crawling its way to the sewers and that's when Peter got his genius idea.
In the Spider-Man costume, he crawled into the sewers himself to try and find the giant lizard that terrorized New York. In a spot where he was surrounded by a lot of entrances to go deeper into the sewers, Peter made a makeshift spider web and laid on it while he waited for a sign. He also attached his camera to a wall with webs to try and capture a picture of The Lizard for evidence. As soon as he saw multiple lizards make their way to a single entrance, Peter followed and that's when he was met with The Lizard.
The Lizard trapped Spider-Man under him and made three gashes on his chest before Peter got free and they both started to fight. The web they were on broke, causing them to fall into the water. Peter managed to swim and barely escaped the claws of The Lizard.
In his quick escape, Peter forgot about his camera. The Lizard found it and read who it belonged to and that's how he found out who was behind the Spider-Man mask.
Peter Parker in his weak and injured state needed somewhere to go to heal. He immediately thought of Zoee and crawling in through her window but then he remembered how he needed to protect her more than ever since The Lizard might use her against him if he figured out his identity.
Since he couldn't go to his best friend's house, he decided to go to his girlfriend, Gwen Stacy's house. That's where he is now, resting on the floor of her bedroom while Gwen carefully cleaned his wounds with a wet cloth. Peter flinches and grimaces in pain as she does do.
Gwen smiles lovingly at her boyfriend, dimples adorning her cheeks. Peter allows himself to get lost in her beauty and focus his mind on her, only her. Peter sits up slightly, his face screwing up in slight pain as he does so. Once he's face to face to Gwen, he starts to tease her by leaning in and nuzzling his nose against hers, their lips almost brushing. He then leans in to kiss her but before their lips meet, Gwen whispers, "Easy, bug boy."
Peter gives her a huge, boyish grin. "What did you just call me?" He whispers back before leaning in again for the kiss he didn't get. He cups the back of her neck with his left hand and pulls her in close.
"No," She pleads as she tries to pull away. "No, I know what this is."
"What is it?" Peter asks, leaning back to look up at her worried face.
"Everyday, for as long as I can remember, my father has left every morning and put a badge on his chest, and strapped a gun to his hip," Gwen whispers her explanation, getting emotional. "And every day, for as long as I can remember, I haven't known if he was gonna make it home."
Peter understands now what her fear is. She's scared that one day he might go off to be Spider-Man and he won't go back to her.
"Okay," He sighs sadly. "I gotta stop him though."
"Why?"
"I have to because I created him," Peter admits, a weight being lifted off his shoulders as he's finally letting out all he's been keeping inside. He believes it's his fault and he kept it from Gwen because he didn't want to disappoint her.
"What do you mean?" Gwen asks curiously.
"I gave him an equation that made all of this possible." He whispers out, getting emotional as well. "Something my father had been working on, secretly. Now I realize why he kept it a secret. Gwen, the point it, this is my responsibility. I have to fix it."
Gwen gives him a slight smile as he caresses her face. She then presses a soft kiss to his palm before looking at him.
"Let's get out of here." Peter suddenly blurts out, trying to lift the mood. "Just for a minute, can we?" He gives her an Eskimo kiss, rubbing his nose against hers.
Gwen shakes her head. "No, no! If my parents see me leaving, I'm dead."
Peter looks down in disappointment as he realizes that she has a point until he comes up with an idea. "Your parents aren't gonna see you leave."
After a few minutes of convincing his girlfriend and carefully putting his suit back on, Peter helps Gwen climb out the window before they swing off into the night.
Gwen holds onto him tightly as Peter swings them around the neighborhood. The warmth of her body against Peter's reminds him on when he saved Zoee from someone stalking her the night they had dinner at the Stacy's.
Zoee.
Thoughts prick at him in his mind as he feels like he's forgetting something. As Peter swings by his house, his new enhanced hearing catches a voice, making him slow down his swinging.
"I don't think he's showing up Zoee." The familiar voice says softly. "We're getting late, we better get going."
That's when it hits Peter; today was the day of the wedding and he was invited to go to the ceremony and after-party. He almost drops Gwen at the realization, making her squeal at the lose grip. Peter doesn't think twice before he swings off to return the blonde back to her bedroom. As soon as he leaves Gwen at her window, he kisses her forehead goodnight to avoid the lips he's been trying to kiss.
As fast as he can, he swings back to his house and sneaks in through the window of his bedroom, rushing to get in. Once inside, he fumbles with taking his Spider-Man suit off, making him grow frustrated. The gashes on his chest are slowly healing with his enhanced healing but they still sting, making him hiss slightly at the pain. He bandages his wounds before he quickly jumps into some black dressing pants and throws on a white dress shirt. He finds a quick tutorial on how to make a proper tie and once he's done, he throws on his black blazer, completing his tuxedo look.
He combs and gels his hair to fix the messy mask hair. He looks into the mirror and stares at his reflection, pursing his lips then looking around in shame. I'm so late, Zoee is gonna be so disappointed... But being finally done with his appearance, he bursts out of his room and rushes down the stairs, passing Aunt May. He kisses her cheek and bids her goodbye.
"Finally! Where were you?" May exclaims after him before he reaches the door. "Zoee's been calling all afternoon!"
Peter would stay and make up an excuse but he doesn't want to show up later than he already is. Before he leaves, he picks up the invitation he was given from a small table close to the front door. He stuffs it in his pocket and goes out the door, shooting a web into the sky to get to the after-party in no time to see his Zoee.
