Author's POV
Jin's gaze lingered on the lengthy runways and the identically massive airplanes parked outside the terminal. He and his three teammates were given a private lounge where he sat behind large windows. After an extended break, it was finally the day he was leaving for Berlin on his first mission.
Jin sipped his bitter espresso while his friend next to him frantically typed on his laptop, checking that all the details of their plan and work were correct. If he didn't, this mission wouldn't even get off the ground.
It was a private jet that would bring them to their starting point, so they could head anywhere they wanted within a certain slot. But they were purposely delaying, for the same reason as Yoongi. A final check over everyone's fake identification, mission requirements, and any last-minute changes. After the triple check, they would eventually leave the motherland.
Jin kept his coffee on the small side table beside him before picking up his fairly large iPad and unlocking it to skim through some mail. He sighed once again and took the diary next to him before opening a specific page that held the main mission information. Although it was reckless to keep such crucial information on an object that anyone could take hold of, Jin had had it all transcribed into a code that only he could understand.
A frown sculpted upon Jin's face as the said man rubbed his eye under the nerdy glasses. A sigh of frustration left the poor man's mouth as his frown became achingly worse and his teeth gritted against each other.
His irritation overpowered his will to get work done and have a clear brain, which would help him in the mission. Instead, being in this state has become more and more frequent for him ever since that encounter with Namjoon the other day.
The words he said that day enraged him without a particular reason. He didn't understand why, but he didn't hate the being simply because of how he was. He hated the fact that he couldn't comprehend whether Namjoon's love for him was real or simply a facade.
There were answers to why he was behaving and thinking this way, but the more and more he thought about Namjoon, the more bizarre his head would become. What was even more like a 'nail on a chalkboard' for him was the fact that the thought of the other judge almost forced out something called emotions, which were caged in his non-existent heart.
Exposed. Ashamed. That's how he felt. And he didn't like even a bit of it.
What made matters worse was the fact that Namjoon saw his dark, filthy blood. It was the biggest fuel to burn at the moment. Just thinking about how Namjoon was the only person to be aware of this made Jin want to rip out his hair and drag his nails through his fucking skin until he bled to death and didn't have to deal with this kind of bullshit.
He wasn't one to avoid people out of fear; if he had to work with them, he'd still deal with them. But here's where the problem was occurring: It was annoyingly difficult for Jin to face the person who witnessed him in his most vulnerable state and even saw something so unholy.
The judge bit the end of his Apple pencil, agitated and burdened. It had been years since it had been challenging for Jin to mask his emotions, fatigue, and irritation behind his poker mask. Yet here he was—emotions on an exhibition-like display.
"Something happened on the weekends, didn't it?" Yoongi breathed as he paused his already fatigued fingers to give them a quick crack. He fixed his eyes on the screen, which was processing the final data that he had just entered.
Jin, on the other hand, took it as a cue to instantly mask up the expressions he forgot were surfacing and silently glanced at the elder with subtle shock. Why was he even surprised at this rate?
He had turned his head to peer out the window once again. A sigh left his mouth, not aware that the other assassin was carefully observing him from the corner of his eyes without being noticed.
Silence resided between them since Jin's mouth was shut close, with absolutely not an ounce of word spewing out of him.
Yoongi simply sighed, shutting down his laptop after all the information was safely saved and locked away. The quietness of the younger gave a clear answer itself.
"What happened between you and Namjoon?" The same person raised another question. "You've been acting awfully strange and basically avoiding him."
Jin was almost offended by Yoongi's final few words. Although he was aware of the truth, hearing them aloud damaged his ego and inner image in a way. It made him sound like he was a sort of coward, almost, and Jin absolutely loathed that fact. He could never fear someone like Namjoon. Not even in anyone's dreams.
A sharp glare came through Yoongi's way, metaphorically slitting his throat. The said male raised a brow at the other assassin's wordless response. He couldn't help but humorlessly chuckle through his nose.
"Why? Did that hurt your ego? However, you do realize how true it is, right?" Yoongi provoked with calmness.
"Nothing...happened between us, absolutely nothing," Jin blurted with blankness and a deeper voice. Yoongi grasped the slight rashness and irritation that were laced in the words.
Putting the laptop in his leather bag, Yoongi crossed his arms as he faced his body to fully look at Jin. "Nothing, huh? Was it that bad that now you, of all people, are running away from your own problems?" No reply came.
"Jin, I get it; avoiding a person for a little while is ok, but we have to compromise at times. Especially in times like these, where teamwork is crucial, if you keep up with this, then his mission is already a failure-"
"Yoongi!" The louder voice pierced through, along with wrath and an outburst. "I know what I have to do and what is important. Don't you even dare tell me what my actions may lead to."
The said male closed his eyes and turned his head to face the ceiling. He didn't have the energy to argue before a 16-hour flight. So he had to take a calm approach; otherwise, a wildfire was ready to spread.
"As your only friend, I'm stating the facts in front of you so that you fully realise how obvious they are and what consequences they will lead to. It's simply your choice if you're going to deal with them or not," he said as he rested his eyes for a few minutes in the exact position.
Jin took deep breaths as he tried to calm himself down. He knew Yoongi was right, and if he didn't play his role, then this mission would just be longer, meaning he'd be stuck with that devilishly handsome asshole. But I don't think he understands that he'd be stuck with him even after the mission—for his entire life, that is.
Before the judge could part his lips to bring his own input to the conversation, they were interrupted by the remaining members of the team, Namjoon and Jinyoung. These two had arrived a little later than our bestie duo, but even when they did come here, the two made sure to be as far away from each other as possible so they could concentrate on their work. Making sure that everything was prepared for the mission. All gadgets and dangerous equipment that were required were carefully snuck in through mandatory airport security. You truly wouldn't want to know to what lengths they had to go to get away with everything.
When the two mystical creatures had finally gotten the attention of the humans, the Glemna spoke up, "Ready to go?" The atmosphere was nothing in particular, which was before Jin's eyes met Namjoon's.
All of a sudden, everything started slowly escalating in silence. The moment Jin's gaze landed on Namjoon's already staring ones, a lighter was dropped into the pit of gasoline.
Ever since that nightmare that displayed itself right in front of Joon's eyes, the man's quietness grew louder. As if the situation wasn't already worse a couple days ago, it became even darker.
Namjoon knew how much his love had suffered. But at that moment, he didn't do anything but boil his blood. The most horrifying part was that Namjoon became more cold-blooded than anyone could ever imagine. This man was known for having a venomous smile on his red lips as he ripped your heart out. But now, he would torture anybody without a single noise or blink of an eye.
He became more cruel. The days before, he'd just stay inside locked so no one could come in. Nowadays, he'd make his way out every day and return inside his chamber with the blood of at least 20 people, human or not.
He didn't have a heart. But how can you explain the pain in his chest? The want of bloody revenge in his veins?
This entire process, from the time those specific words dripped out of Jin's mouth, did nothing but expose Namjoon's hidden loneliness. The more he killed, the more the words rang through his head. The more blood he saw, the more he was reminded of the scene from that day.
The more he thought about a certain person, the more alone he felt. He saw the young Namjoon wailing his heart out, just like Jin. He was brutally reminded of how he used to crave genuine love and protection.
Jin's eyes hardened as a threatening aura was directed towards Namjoon. The said male, not in a state of provoking the other, simply shifted his gaze to look out at one of the windows. That, for some reason, only frustrated Jin.
Perhaps it was because he got so used to the normal Namjoon's taunting nature that now, when he was silent, all he looked like was a sick coward.
'First, he tries to get me after raising my blood pressure permanently; now he's avoiding me like a fucking wuss. Drop the pathetic act, you attention seeker.' Thoughts screamed out of Jin's face and demeanour.
Yoongi cleared his throat at the discomforting and nauseating tension before he mostly looked over to Jinyoung with eyes almost pleading for help. "Ah yes, we most definitely are," the shortest assassin announced with slight directing intentions.
Jin's teeth gritted against each other as he unwillingly stood up, his alarming eyes not leaving the poor devil even for a mere second. He snatched his bag roughly behind him as he stomped forward with wrath filling his body.
Without a single word, he left the lounge before making sure to purposely bump his shoulder with quite a force against Namjoon's. The physical message spoke louder than any speaker in the world.
On the other hand, a small yet sly smirk mischievously curled up its way onto his face. It was good to see his opponent already failing to get the 'heart' of a heartless man like him. What a great start!
Namjoon's expression lay monotonous, but the turmoil that grew inside him was getting worse. He wanted to do something, but he couldn't. There was so much he wanted to say, but everything was making him doubt himself. So with a clench of his jaw, he left the area, with Jinyoung following behind swiftly, a hidden smirk plastering his face.
However, none of that was left unnoticed. by a certain observant man that was completely ignored by all three pairs of eyes.
Yoongi sighed as he knew something was wrong with Namjoon and Jin. Especially with Namjoon and how he wasn't acting and like himself. But what agitated Yoongi's curious brain was Jinyoung.
What did he have to do with the spreading fire between the problematic duo? The last assassin gradually walked out, with each step holding a question.
There was a lot to figure out. and Yoongi couldn't resist his brain from interfering in the puddle of burning gasoline.
