Author's POV
Best Friends
It's always a comforting feeling to be around the person who understands you the most. It can either be your partner, family member, or your closest friend. But we're talking about besties here.
They might not necessarily be your love interests but you know you will kill or be killed for them. Because of how much you care for each other. It takes a long while to develop such a bond with some people. But with best friends, it's like destiny. Sometimes in just a short amount of time, you trust each other with your lives, sometimes more than your own family even. It was the same here.
Namjoon and Jimin.
It's obvious by just glancing at them that they were so close. Like 'close' doesn't even half describe how much they loved each other, platonically of course. But no one knows how the two ever got this close and when they even became friends.
However, that was a story for some other time.

At the moment the two iconic best friends were just silently in each other's company, at Jimin's house, specifically his room.
It was a peaceful-looking room, welcoming and comforting. It had cream-coloured walls along with hints of baby blue here and there near the selves. The room was a decently big one regarding the fact it was the master bedroom of the house. The room was more modern looking but kind of luxurious at the same time. A fancy canopy hung gracefully above the bed, the same colour as the walls, adding to the aesthetic look of the place. And of course, the room was completely filled with plants in all the best spots, especially near the windows.
Namjoon was casually getting dolled up for heading to one of his favourite clubs with one of his favourite people. The man was dressed in such revealing clothes. A dark sheer shirt, showing his slightly buff yet magnificent body. His chest was completely exposed with a few glistening silver necklaces along with more accessories like ear cuffs, earrings and all of that shiny stuff. He had worn black jeans with extreme rips that displayed dark fishnets inside. Overall the man was looking HOT, like hotter than the sun, basically.
But on the other hand, we had Mr Park Jimin. This man calmly sat on edge of his bed while looking like a fucking marshmallow. He had an extremely fluffy woollen sweater that was kind of like a turtle neck as well. It made him want to practically like hide his entire face inside the collar. His hair was recently curled and way too poofy, giving him an innocent child look. On top of all this, he had his usual round glasses.
They had very polar opposite styles and personas indeed.
And unlike Namjoon, who was currently curling his hair with the hot iron rod, Jimin was just silently reading his book. 'Flower Poetry & Prose', was the title of the said book. It talked about flowers and nature in a rather artistic and poetic manner. The book was perfect for those who liked appreciating the beauty of flowers in a quiet and verbal manner. Jimin loved poetry and flowers, so having a book with both was beyond fascinating to him.
The comforting silence was soon broken by the male that was reading it.
"Namjoon?"
"Hmm?" He didn't have to look at the other, he just kept on curling his hair, nearly finishing.
"When are you all leaving?" he questioned regarding their upcoming mission.
"Next week, actually."
Jimin looked up from his book and raised his brows, making his huge glasses nearly slide down.
"Oh? Y-Yoongi is coming with you as well, right?" he asked in a frail voice.
The devil nodded while somewhat knowing what the older was getting at.
"Well...can you make sure he doesn't get hurt in any way?" The smaller lad mumbled in a tiny voice as he submerged into his turtleneck, looked back down at his book, and fixed his glasses by pushing them using his fluffy sweat paws.
Namjoon glanced at the older through the reflection from the mirror, making him chuckle at how shy he could become when talking about Yoongi. The ironic thing was that this man was also the most respected and brutal prince of one of the greatest kingdoms in hell.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." He rolled his eyes playfully.
He didn't want to protect the person who was slowly taking his best friend away from him. But he didn't want Jimin trying to kill him as well. It was horrifying when the older one got mad. But on the side topic, he knew that Jimin loved his best friend too much to drift away from him, but he still had to be careful.
Namjoon finished getting ready after turning off the curling rod and adding the final touches to his make-up. He stepped back to look at himself in the mirror. He couldn't help but admire how elegantly bold he was looking in his outfit and choice of style. He gently caressed his face as he turned it side to side to fully observe his sharp features in awe, it was a regular habit of his. Dolling himself and then staring at his reflection in pride fueled his ego which was greater than the distance of this entire universe.
He loved himself. He loved every single thing about himself. And that's why he couldn't bare any existing soul saying anything otherwise regarding him. It was always him, and himself only for him. But after Jin came, things partially took a turn but not as a whole. He began to care for someone other than just himself, but he still loved himself the most.
How couldn't he? He knew he was the prettiest person alive, and if anybody claimed to be more, they would simply disappear. Jin is obviously just an exception. However, since Namjoon adored himself so much, he obviously spoiled himself every day. That's why he had such high expectations from everyone around him too. Only specific types of people could satisfy his regular desires. And the people who were close to him had to be entirely different from the rest so that they stood out to Namjoon and contrasted with the rest.
The young being cupped his cheeks with both his hands, careful to not ruin his magnificent makeup even in the slightest. He kept staring at his reflection, specifically his face.
A rosy smile appeared between his lips as he lovingly beamed, "You are so pretty, Namjoon. You look even more handsome than ever before. Gosh, so many people must be jealous of your elegance."
Yet despite such self-motivating words his gentle smile vanished as gloom gradually dawned upon him, "But then...why doesn't Jin see your beauty?"
Jimin overheard the younger's words and he could distinctly hear the faint sorrow behind those words of his. His own eyes softened as they made their way to look at the evident downturned mouth of the other. Jimin felt subtle heartache himself, seeing how the younger one's expression turned to one of a wilted flower's, withering silently in pain yet still having its deadly delicateness.
The hurting male slowly turned around as he looked at the older with a sad pout, his hands back in their original position.
"Hyungie? Why can't HE see how pretty I am? Why can't he love me?"
Namjoon stomped his way forward with building aggression as he continued ranting, "Am I not smart enough for him? Am not I not handsome enough? Or is it just that I'm not rich enough or something?" He clearly didn't know the reason.
Namjoon huffed as he slumped beside Jimin on his bed and crossed his arms frustratedly. He then once again repeated his blabbering, "Like I have everything he would want. We are so similar, as well. I even think like him. I hate the same things he does. I have the exact viewpoint on things as him. I'm also a very smart person and I can be nice...sometimes." He mumbled the last word quietly with a squishy voice.
Jimin calmly waited until the other was done spitting out everything in his head. He chuckled after observing him. "Joon, my friend, you are all of those things. You are pretty, smart, rich, fuckable, nice even, I suppose. It's not about what YOU are, love. It's about what Jin thinks HE isn't. You do realise that at some point he would start seeing you as a competition and not just a mere nuisance, right?"
Namjoon's gaze met Jimin's as he raised his eyebrow, tilted his head, and rapidly blinked his eyes.
"Goodness, don't tell me you actually didn't realise that." He sighed, "You have to understand that now his hatred is slowly building up due to not only the fact that you love him, but also that you are as good as him, how you two are similar. It's like that irritating feeling, where you want to stand out, and be the best, but then there comes someone who is just as good as you. It's like sharing your own precious spotlight with someone else, or even them slowly taking it away from you. And it may be even the fear of his spotlight being taken away from him is what scares him the most, really. " The prince couldn't help but feel his own self relating to feeling on a daily basis.
Namjoon stared at him blankly with defeated eyes. "Then what the fuck am I supposed to do with him?"
"Nothing," Jimin simply replied, resulting in furrowed eyebrows to emerge on Namjoon's face. "You have done all your part, now it's on him to adapt, understand, and slowly accept those aspects of you, whether willingly or not. I'm sure his subconscious will do so without him realising it. But as much as you hate it, not everything's under your control sometimes, Namjoon. So the process might take a long time, but you are already on the right track. Sometimes even the greatest of relations take the longest time to stir up."
Namjoon sighed tiredly. "The amount of bullshit I am going through, just to get him without forcing him. Everything's already hard enough but then that stupid Glemna barges between us OUT OF NOWHERE," the Devil fumed, nearly shouting at the end.
Namjoon had already mentioned his incident last time with Jinyoung to Jimin. Even the dark Prince knew that the Glemna was a threat to the Devil. He was coming back with the spirit of vengeance, so anything that was precious to Namjoon, he would simply do his best to painfully snatch away.
"Namjoon, he's clearly trying to understand exactly why you like him, meaning he's getting suspicious of Jin as well. And you know what happens if someone knows his true identity."
His words turn Namjoon's face beyond petrifying. Eyes hooded and narrowed, teeth gritting against each other, jaw clenched tightly, his neck muscles practically flexing and his aura turning colder than dried ice.
Jimin quietly observed everything about the other. Namjoon always significantly changed whenever the thought of Jin being in danger reached his head. The devil himself didn't know why, but Jimin did.
"I would burn down every existing realm if that's what it takes to keep him safe. So what is that stupid Glemna for me? I want to see him try Jimin. He can be the first one to set an example. An example of what happens...when someone tries to mess with Levinor's property." The creature growled as he stared burning holes in the marble floor.
Jimin couldn't help but internally squeal. It was exciting to see how the self-centred bastard could be so protective and possessive of someone other than himself.
"Yes, however, I recommend that you don't try to peak his suspicions by keeping your distance and jealousy away from Jin for a bit," Jimin advised with an unrushed voice.
"Why should I be the one keeping my distance?! He should know to-"
"Listen," He cut the Devil off abruptly," The less you react the less you will have to deal with. You yourself want to simply get Jin as quickly as possible. So make it easy for yourself." He sighed as he came to the end of his sentence.
Namjoon cried with exhaustion, as he was sick of the same bullshit. "You know what, ditch this entire topic. It gives me a shitty ass headache."
Jimin nodded understandingly, going back to flipping through the pages of the aesthetic book. Namjoon couldn't help but stare at him, and the older one looked beyond adorable.
His outfit practically engulfed him. Then the small little natural pout on his face that came out due to the intense focus his brain was in. At last, the glint of the spark that was in his crescent eyes as he read with fascination. Now Namjoon definitely knew why Yoongi fell in with this man.
"Stop looking so damn cute and innocent, will you? How the hell are you going to dominate your damn man while being like that, huh? Or...are you going to submit to him?" He commented playfully, changing the mood of the room while smirking widely as his eyes met Jimin's when the older one snapped his head up at the last sentence.
Jimin angrily pouted while he glared at his best friend. "Damn you, I may look like a sub but you don't know how much of a beast I can be in bed." He flipped his imaginary long hair as he had a prideful face.
"Yoongi doesn't seem the type to bottom for anyone, though." the Devil chimed in.
"I can simply make him do anything for me." he simply shrugged.
Namjoon grinned slyly as he shook his head at the dark Prince's attitude. "But you still gotta change."
"And why is that?"
"You can't go to a club looking like a damn stuff toy for fuck's sake."
Jimin raised his brow as he looked at the taller before sassily questioning, "Woah there Mister! Who said I'm going to the club with you?"
"Well, Mister, it's not like you have much of a choice," a sarcastic yet mischievous smile on his face as he shrugged his shoulders freely.
"Hey! You know I hate going to clubs!" the prince exclaimed with narrowed eyebrows.
"Well, today is your chance to view it differently!" Namjoon cheered positively.
Jimin's eyes hooded as he gave the Devil a 'done' face. "Bitch fuck you and your club-"
"Well you can get fucked OR fuck someone after decades today, as well!" he beamed once again with a bigger grin this time.
"Kim Namjoon-" He was about to yell with frustration before he got cut off.
"Look, Hyung," he calmed the situation down by using honorifics after a long while. "I know you hate it. But just this once. Or how about you and me make a deal?"
Jimin tilted his head before inquiring, "what is it?"
"Say we go to the club, you stay there for 15 minutes and if you hate it, you can immediately leave. I won't force you to stay."
Jimin sighed as he rubbed his eyes under his glasses. "Why are you so desperate to bring me to different places nowadays?" he sighed.
"Because the last time I did, it turned out splendidly for you," he answered, referring to the incident at the fancy restaurant.
Jimin unexpectedly blushed as soon the memories of that day entered his brain.
Well for this, Namjoon wasn't wrong and Jimin knew that. He did have to agree with him for that no matter what.
"W-well...fine then." He grumbled in a small voice, once again hiding himself in his turtle neck sweater and behind his book.
"But I'm still going in this same outfit and bringing this book as well. Because I know I won't be staying there for long!" he announced with a louder voice.
Namjoon cheered in victory before agreeing to the terms of the prince. He immediately grabbed his wallet and phone.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's GOOOO!" He exalted before letting out a sound of pure excitement as he dragged the introverted prince out of his shell.
Let's see how much this night holds for the two.
I love complete opposite people being best friends. Like one's a party animal and the other talks to his plants when he's lonely-
