Open Contest - The Poem Analysis (NAAU)
For those new to the phrase NAAU, it means Not An Art Update.
Buckle up, a lot of reading ahead!
There's a lot to read, but I just wanted to cover all of the bases.
I have decided to host a contest that includes both artists and writers alike. Meet the poem analysis challenge!
The title may sound like an assignment from English class, but this is something you have free reign in! Also, completely optional unlike a school assignment.
I had recently posted a piece of poetry centered around a sensitive topic to some: depression and themes of self harm and suicide. If you find the topic uncomfortable but still want to join the contest, I can arrange something that is easier to work with. This is not an inconvenience to me and I'm willing to help.
The poem can be found in my Miscellaneous Writings book, as the most recent chapter. If you cannot find it, please contact me through pm.
Unlike some contests, this one is inclusive to both writers and artists. Some of the parameters will be different for each and will be described below for an easy screenshots to save, but the only things I'll be definitely judging on is creativity and originality.
The writer and artist entry's will be judged separate, as to not mix in the multiple strangers that will be hard to judge on.
Artists:
-Your work should be (obviously) inspired by the poem or the replacement option given.
-Submit it through any given book in Wattpad, and tag me in it so I can see your entry. (Don't forget to tag otherwise I can't see it and won't include you in final judgement!)
-Almost everything in your piece should have a purpose, whether to bring pleasant imagery or to drop hard truth. It all depends on the artist.
-This step is optional. Include a description below your work. Describe some of the imagery and how it pertains to the poem (for example: the character crying is to resemble the hurt they feel inside).
-Crisp and clean work, minimal smudging or stray lines (unless the stray lines have meaning to them and specified in a description.)
-Try to have decent lighting and a crisp picture as well of your work. If it's a little big to fit in one picture, you're allowed to provide zoom-in shots of what you think is important.
-Your style, age, or level of art ability is not being judged. I'm only assessing how you implement the themes.
-If one picture isn't enough, I'm allowing a limit of three frames for an entry if you wanted a longer section to reference, or you wanted something that just wouldn't fit in one frame.

Writers:
-The entry at least, has to be 400 words long. This is to accommodate people who pack a lot of meaning into few words.
-The same as artists, you submit your work by posting it in any Wattpad book of yours and tag me in it so I can see and enter you into the contest.
-It must include themes from the poem or the replacement option. Your work can branch off into a story of well rounded characters, or another poem that could be a sequel, or a response, to mine. Remember, creativity and originality.
-Unique to writers, I'm also loosely judging on punctuation, capitalizing, and flow of the work. To help the flow, use transition words and no run on sentences. Having one mistake here and there will not count towards your judgement in entry.
-Writers and artists aren't limited to one section of the poem. You can draw or write something that could represent the poem as a whole.
General Rules:
-Both writing and art as one entry together will not be accepted.
-You don't have to be following me to join. (Feel free to tag friends that might be interested! The more the merrier!)
-Keep an eye on my conversation wall for any updates on the contest.
-I won't have any hate for any entries. Those who enter have the courage to post a piece of themselves into a public contest and they deserve a pat on the back for it. For some it isn't easy to put themselves out there and I respect those who struggle with it.
*whew*

The deadline is yet to be determined, but expect the deadline to be more than three weeks away.
I'm so excited to see what you guys, gals, and nonbinary pals come up with!
Good vibes all around!
