1 Spiced Soup
POV Elsa
Early in the morning my limousine arrived in front of the hotel. Last night we had celebrated how good the concert had gone. I left Anna to sleep because she's not an early morning bird, besides she planned on going to breakfast buffet with her husband Kristoff anyway.
Again I was officially invited to some stores in a high fashion street. They wanted someone famous to be seen entering their shop and then returning with the stores bags just in time for the paparazzis to take some pictures. I guess it's some type of advertisement for them, even though I didn't have to pay for anything since they wanted to give it as a gift.
"That dress looks lovely on you!" The lady gasped as I turn around in front of the mirror.
"Honestly... I don't do salsa dances," I laugh and give her a friendly smile. She had made me dress into deep red dress, it had a large rose ribbon on the waist and it was just beneath my knee length. When I spin it spins with me and the hem looks like its oceans waves.
"And this red," I added while looking down at me.
"Uh, save it for Christmas honey? It's free but I really wish that you would go to some Christmas party wearing it," she sighed and smiles innocently.
I agreed to her just so I could get out from the situation. It was autumn but the vendors were already looking forward for next season with big sales.
"Could I use the backdoor?" I smiled innocently when she gave me the pouch.
"Front door suits you better," she laughed and I look behind me. There were already people waiting outside the boutique. They couldn't enter since this is more of high end place, just for people with appointments.
"You could take my picture into your wall with me holding your brands shopping bag if you let me go from the backdoor," I said while looking at the limousine with the driver already standing waiting for me.
"Really?" She gasped in happy tone and I nodded my head.
Few moments later she had a fresh photo in her digital camera and she smiled like it was the happiest day of her life. I was heading to the backroom of hers where she told the backdoor would be for the alley.
"I'll get one of these as well!" I said when I took some shades from the shelves. I put them on me.
"Sure, anything sweetheart! Please come back again," she cheered.
I waved my hand as I entered the backroom. I saw a glimpse of the limousine driver who seemed to begin to panic. He rushed through the paparazzi's and tried to open the boutiques door but it was no use.
"Only invited customers can enter!" The stores lady yelled through the door to the driver.
That was the last thing I heard before I entered to the alley in the back. It was quite clean but that you could except from an alley of high fashion street.
Quickly I got myself into some regular street where normal people shop. By normal I mean people who are not just into fame and money, just people who go to work daily and don't pop out from the crowd that much. Also I got rid of the clothes I got for free, I threw those soulless rags into side of the street in bags. Someone who needs them could take them.
"Oh, that looks like a nice little shop," I smiled before entering a store that was appealing.
I got to try on clothes by myself without anyone selling them or telling me how good they are. Yeah I was offered help but I declined, however the saleswoman didn't come to help me even though I said no – like they did in those expensive boutiques where I went.
"Did you find anything you like?" The older looking woman smiled to me.
I nod my head, "Yes. I really like the clothes you have here."
"Thank you sweetheart. I selected them by myself from fashion magazines. May I ask something?" She asked politely.
"Yes you can," I said while I was getting my wallet from my bag. I just bought a new sparkling ice blue top, jeans and a pretty white jacket.
"Are you Ms. Elsa Arendelle?" She whispered.
I began chuckling, "Yes in fact I am, now could I ask a question?" I smiled when she handed me the shopping bags.
"Absolutely, I really admire the songs you write. They tell such a great thing about love and its meaning," she sighed in awe when she tucked her freely hanging gray hair behind her ear. She had aged in gracious way, her hair was otherwise chestnut color, it was nice to see a person once in a while who didn't try to conceal who they are.
"Where could I find a nice cafeteria for lunch?" I grinned.
"The best one is just couple blocks away. They have wonderful soup, you should try it! Their daily special soups vary though," she laughed and wrote me the name of the place in paper.
"Thank you so much," I said while taking the paper note from her as well.
"Please come back again!" She cheered when I was at the door.
I lift the shades over my eyes and I smile slyly while I glance at her quickly again. "Of course when I'm at the city again!" I replied when I left.
My stomach was complaining. This is what you get for skipping breakfast but it feels worth it. I met new, honest people by doing so and I got some rest from all the paparazzis. My limousine driver is probably out of his mind by now but I'll give him a call once I'm done eating.
Then my phone started ringing and I took it out from my bag. The caller was Anna.
"Heyy!" I cheered happily.
"Elsa, where did you go? I thought we go to breakfast buffet together," Anna muttered. I saw the café which the woman in the store mentioned earlier and I went in.
"I went to do some shopping and now I'm at a cozy little café to try some soup that I was recommended to taste," I laughed. I went to the line and I turn to my right to grab the tray. I bumped into the person behind me a little bit.
"Sorry!" I said immediately but I got no response.
"What happened? Oh... you missed the delicious chocolate pancakes and muffins," Anna said and tried to tease me off.
"I just accidentally bumped into someone. Hey, wait a second it's my turn to order," I told to Anna when I got in front of the food stand.
"What is your daily special soup?" I asked and gave a smile.
"Today we have spicy chicken soup, it is really popular," A girl grinned.
"Okay one bowl of that," I said. Quickly the girl filled the bowl and placed it on my tray. Then I went to pay for the soup, the smell was delicious.
"Ah, now I'm done. Where were we?" I giggled as I went to the table after paying for the food.
"Before you left me hanging while ordering some food... I was about to ask you if we could go to see a movie in town before flying with our jet back to home?" Anna asked, she couldn't hide her enthusiasm.
"Sure—," I chuckled when I placed my tray on the table. "Oh no! I forgot my spoon."
"Well get one," Anna laughed. I placed my bags on one seat and then I returned to the line to get the spoon.
"Already did. So what movie should we watch?" I questioned.
"There's this new comedy on--," Anna began but I gasped loudly.
"What's wrong?" Anna asked quickly. She knew me well, like when something is up.
"There's some freaking guy!" I groaned as I paused on my steps. My fingers squeezed my phone.
"Is he hot?" Anna giggled.
"Shhh! That was NOT the point. He is eating MY food!" I said angrily. My growling stomach reminded me of its existence.
"Oh. What will you do about it?" Anna whispered.
"Hang up and get my lunch," I stated. "Bye, I'll call you later," I whispered.
"Alright, bye," Anna gulped and I hang up.
Then I began pacing towards the table. That arrogant guy didn't even react when I approached him and I cleared my throat. However he startled when I pulled a chair out in front of him.
Our eyes met and I glared at him, his cyan blue eyes were surprised. I didn't say a word when I sat down and then I reached my spoon at the soup. I took a spoonful first. He was staring at me in a manner which clearly stated that he was dumbfounded. Good.
I took another spoonful and that's when he chuckled and gave me a smile. He pushed the tray in middle of the table and continued eating. He didn't ask what I was doing. Maybe he is some hungry hobo who took his chance when I left my tray unguarded.
We said nothing while we ate, sometimes he just glimpsed at me and when our eyes met he smiled. Once we had finished the bowl of soup he stood up and went back to the cashier.
My head was still boiling when he got back. I flinched when he placed a cup of hot chocolate in front of me and then went back to sit in front of me. He blew his own cup to cool it down and then he took the first sip.
Even though it was late autumn he was only wearing a blue hoodie and brown pants. He had no jacket or coat and the shoes he had on were weathered down. I began drinking my hot chocolate, he had already finished his. Now he was simply staring at me, like he was examining me.
For some reason my cheeks began heating up. I placed the empty cup in front of me and I turn my head away from him. He got up and I notice how he runs his hand through his messy longish silver white hair. Then he left and I exhaled, this had been really uncomfortable experience.
I also got up and began making my leave.
"Oh god," I gulped once I look around. He had also stolen my bags. Quickly I began looking outside from the windows of the café. I saw him walking down the street and I was about to rush after him.
"MISS!" I heard someone yelling and I turn around sharply. One customer was waving at me.
"You're about to forget your bags," a girl cheered and pointed at one table.
My heart stopped. There were my bags as well as the tray without a spoon and untouched bowl of soup. I ran to fetch my bags quickly and I gave my quick thanks to that girl before I run to the street after him. I just ate his lunch because of my stupidity.
Running on heels has never been my favorite thing to do. My steps were clipping and clapping on the pavement while I run.
"Wait! You with blue hoodie!" I shouted while I kept on passing a crowd.
"Stop! You were in the cafeteria before," I yelled again but he didn't even turn around to check on who was calling.
"Please make that blue hooded blonde guy stop!" I screamed when he was going to step inside a bus at bus stop. Finally one older man made him stop.
I was catching my breath from the running when I finally reached him.
"This young woman is chasing you, I wish that I had such luck," the man laughed warmly while pointing at me.
"Finally you stopped," I gasped. The old man left.
"Excuse me, did you say something?" The guy raised his eyebrow while looking at me.
"Are you freaking deaf or something! I just said that finally you stopped after me yelling my lungs out," I said to him quickly. I felt irritated by him.
He sighed and took me from my arm. We stepped aside from the busy bus stop to a nearby alley entrance to stand.
"I am deaf," he told me while he stared into my eyes.
"Liar! W-we couldn't have a conversation if you were," I muttered.
"I can read from lips. So, were you in a hurry after me because you wanted some dessert too or?" He said with a sly smile. His voice was teasing.
"N-no," I gulped. "I wanted to say I'm sorry for eating your food... I was mistaken," I explained to him. My face was turning red.
"Well you seemed hungry and it was nice to have some company," he laughed and ruffled his hair.
"I'll pay you back," I quickly stated when I began searching for my wallet.
"No need to. Tell me your name for payment and give a smile? You were so mad looking while eating," he grinned.
"M-my name? Elsa," I said while I tucked my hair behind ear.
"Nice, my name is Jack," he said and offered his hand in for a shake. I took it but instead of shaking it he pulled me into a quick hug.
He let go as fast as he hugged me, he was smiling a lot. I stared at him, never I've felt myself this.. shy. I smiled to him when I saw him smiling.
"Wait," I gasped all of a sudden. Then I searched my business card that I gave him.
"Elsa Arendelle?" He said and glanced at me.
"A singer, you might have heard of me," I nodded towards the card that he was examining.
"Deaf people don't listen to songs that much," he shrugged and put the card inside the pocket of his hoodie.
"I'm terribly sorry!" I gulped when I realized my mistake.
"It's fine but why the card?" He asked curiously.
"If you ever need a favor, contact me," I smiled.
"I already got your smile to remember you by but... I'll keep that in mind," he mumbled and kept on staring into my eyes. His hand reached up and I felt how his hand touched my cheek. Then he moved it up, brushing his hand over my hair and down towards my shoulder before letting go.
" Now I better get going because I just missed my bus and I have a long walk," he laughed like nothing had just happened. I just felt a bit dumbfounded, with traces of his touch still appearing on my skin even though his hands were now carefully inside the pockets of his hoodie.
"I could give you a ride," I said after clearing my throat but he shook his head and turned around. He waved his hand to me before he went on his way.
Short while later I was picked up by the limousine which I called to pick me up.I stared out from the window and wondered my encounter with this Jack. He wasn't mad at me at any point but I was judging him so easily.
"Is something wrong miss?" The driver questioned.
"No. How much longer to the hotel?" I asked.
"About ten minutes," he replied.
My phone began ringing, it was an unknown number.
"Elsa Arendelle," I answered.
"This is from the police. Do you know a man wearing blue hoodie and brown pants?" He asked.
"Sort of, is he in trouble?" I asked.
"He was in accident and we found your card inside his pocket. We don't know his name or anything," police man sighed.
"J-Jack was in accident? Which hospital are you taking him?" I gulped. He gave me the hospital info and I ordered my driver to take me there.
Even though I don't know him, I somehow want to help him or I need to help him. I wrote a text to Anna, saying that I can't go into movies with her and she should delay the jet from leaving.
