"I can't wait to see Infinity War!" (Y/n) shouted pumped. "Why are you so excited?" Collins asked. "Because I'm a huge Marvel fan andmymanagerwon'ttellmewhathappens." "What?" Devan asked. "Repeat that?" "and my manager won't tell me what happens." "Oh okay, wait... Manager?" (Y/n) panicked when she realized she had let her secret slip.
//In (Y/n)'s head//
*this is the best way to tell them right? Are you stupid? You wanna tell them like this? Hey, you know what they say rip it off like a band-aid nice and quick. I swear there's like a 95% chance you're going to regret this. But that's a 5% chance that I won't. You were always the optimistic one. Only in stressful situations. Yeah, yeah.
Who wants to play wheel of excuses? No, no. It's terrible to lie. Welllll, let's just give it a quick spin. *pulls lever* By manager I mean my dad because he manages what I do. No, no that's stupid. What happened to you telling them the truth? But like what if they get upset. Coward. Heyyy, I'm just nervous. Let's give it one more spin. *pulls lever* How about tell them the truth? Wow, you're ganging up on me now.
(Y/n). (Y/n)? (Y/n)? That's my name. Wait.... that's not. Yeah dummy, that's not us we're in your head. Better get going.
//End of (y/n)'s mind thoughts//
"(Y/n). (Y/n)? (Y/n)? Earth to Locke." Devan said waving his hand in front of her. (Y/n) snapped out of her daze. "Huh? Yeah?" "We asked what you meant by manager." Collins said. In the time of her thoughts she hadn't realized that Devan and Collins had switched places. "You see... I'vebasicallybeenlyingtoyouguyssinceI'veknownyoubecauseIwassoawkwardlynervousandwasn'treallysurebecausenotthatmanypeoplereallyknowbutI'mactuallyanauthor. BasicallytheauthoroftheMysteriesattheLighthouseandIfeelreallyreallyreallybadforlyingandIunderstandifyouhatemeforeverandneverwanttotalktome." (Y/n) said really quickly.
(Translation: You see... I've basically been lying to you guys since I've known you because I was so awkwardly nervous and wasn't really sure because not that many people really know but I'm actually an author. Basically the author of the Mysteries at the Lighthouse and I feel really really bad for lying and I understand if you hate me forever and never want to talk to me.)
Devan and Collins took a moment to decipher her words. "Wait, is this about what you were talking about when you were walking here." "What was you talking about?" "She asked me about keeping secrets from friends." Devan said. (Y/n) nodded. That's when it dawned on them. "Wait you're (Y/f/i) (Y/m/i) Locke?" Collins asked. (Y/n) nods holding her breath unsure of how they would respond. Or technically react since they're kind of already responding.
Devan and Collins took a minute to process this. (Y/n) was scared, this was her biggest secret. She closed her eyes breathing heavily. Knowing a panic attack was coming she leaned against the wall and tried to regulate her breathing. Devan thought back to what he was said earlier and agreed to his word. "I'm not upset. I mean don't we all have our secrets." Devan said to Collins. "True, at least she trusted us enough to tell us." Collins noted. However they tried the two knew they couldn't stay mad at (Y/n). Collins thought of her as a sister and Devan ya know, he liked her.
Devan looked up to see (Y/) with her eyes closed. (Y/n) began blinking, she held a hand to her heart. "(Y/n) are you okay?" "That's the stupidest question I've heard all day of course she's not okay." Collins countered Devan's question. Devan walked over to her her eyes watered. "Don't, come closer." (Y/n) said through her labored breathing. "I just, I just need a moment." She said concentrating on a song things that calmed her down. After about a minute she was finally calmed. She took a moment before standing up.
"What was that?" Devan asked. "Well, remember when I said I had anxiety?" (Y/n) asked. "You never said you had anxiety." Collins replied. "Right, course I didn't. Well I do and I just had an anxiety attack." 'Second one today' (Y/n) said in her head. "Look (Y/n) we're not mad tha-" "You're not?" She asked cutting Devan off. "Of course not. You're family." Collins said giving her a side hug. (Y/n) smiled. They all talked for a few minutes then began editing the video again. (Y/n) sat off to the side playing with the slime and giving feedback.
"Alright guys it's been about five hours. As you continue editing I'm gonna go buy us some food. Either of you wanna come with me?" She asks looking at the two who were engrossed in their computer screens. "I'll go." Devan offered. "Alright. Collins take a break while we're gone otherwise your head is going to explode. We'll be back with food soon." (Y/n) said. "Devan you need to grab anything?" (Y/n) asked. "Yeah give me second." He ran upstairs and grabbed two hoodies then came back. Devan patted his pockets checking for his phone and other things. "Yup, now I'm ready." "Bye Collins." "Bye Bro."
Devan and (Y/n) waited on the sidewalk for a moment. "There. Our uber is now on there way." Devan declared. "Do you have any idea what you want to get for Dinner?" "Nope. You?" "Nope. We can probably walk around for a little bit until we come to something that piques our interest." (Y/n) replied. In no time their uber had came and they had arrived at a nearby outlet mall.
As the sun went down so did the temperature. (Y/n) regretted wearing a short sleeved shirt. She began rubbing her (Y/s/c) arms. "I don't understand how it can be super hot one minute then super cold the next." (Y/n) complained. Devan chuckled. "I had a feeling this would happen. Here." He handed her his blue tie dye hoodie as he slipped on his star wars one. "Thank you thank you thank you!" (Y/n) said hugging him from the side then pulling it on. "No problem." He smiled. "We should check on Collins." They both pulled out their phones when they got an instagram notification. The two burst out into laughter when they saw who it was from.
"I think he's doing just fine." Devan said with a laugh. "As long as he's taking a break." (Y/n) replied. As they continued walking they saw a Chinese place. "Dinner?" (Y/n) asked. "Devan nodded "Dinner." They both walked in. "You know, sometimes I feel like someone's just going to yell your name like 'OH MY GOSH DEVAN KEY IS IN THE CHINESE RESTAURANT!'." Devan gave her a deadpanned look. "Wow, way to keep it on the low." "No problem, I mean there's a very low chance of you getting recognized since the stores are basically empty." (Y/n) said with a laugh. "Also at least I didn't yell it. I mean think if I actually yelled it, I was just giving an example." Devan shook his head.
The two ordered a multitude of foods for them and Collins. They ordered their food to go then waited. "Let's play a game while we wait." Devan suggested. "Twenty questions?" "Sure." "Favorite movie series." (Y/n) started. "Easy, Star Wars. How about you?" "Isn't that cheating?" (Y/n) asked. "No, it's borrowing." Devan said making a gesture for her to answer the question. (Y/n) shook her head and chuckled. "(Y/f/m/s) is the best, I couldn't live without it." "Favorite candy." "Anything not sour." Devan replied causing (Y/n) to laugh. That's when their order was called.
They ran up to get it and began making their way out of the store. "Alright have you had any bad injuries before?" Devan asked. "Well it isn't necessarily an injury but after walking for a long time my feet hurt a lot, it's a weird thing that runs in my family. Once though I broke my leg, I stopped dancing after that and when I skate I never really do extreme moves or anything fancy unless I'm stressed or have a reason. I just wish I could over come it but I'm just holding myself back. " (Y/n) said. "How about you?" "I once injured my shoulder. I was so scared to use it again after it had finally healed up and even know I'm still worried I might injure it again so I'm always very careful but I've gotten better about it." Devan said.
(Y/n)'s eyes widened. "I.... didn't.... know.... that." She breathed imaging the pain he must've gone through it would've been like breaking her leg. It's hard to overcome something like that. Like physically you know you're okay but mentally there's a barrier of fear. "You wanna play a game?" Devan offered. He had an idea. "Uhhh, sure." "We're going to do something that puts us out of our comfort zones. I want you, in the next video we do that we're outside to do a back flip with Collins." (Y/n) was to say the least shocked. "But I, what? Bu- I can, my leg." "Yeah but you said you wish you could overcome this. Like you said you're the only one holding yourself back." Devan said knowingly as he fixed his hair. (Y/n) sighed then pouted. "I guess you're right. But in that case. To 'help' you get over your arm, you should.... give me a piggy back ride."
Devan laughed. "What? It's a win win situation, you can get used to something heavy on your shoulders, me, while I don't have to walk anymore." Devan shook his head. "Deal." He bent over slightly so (y/n) could get on. "If I brake your back or end up injuring your uninjured shoulder you can't sue me." (Y/n) claimed as she hopped on his back, the bag with food in her hand. Devan stood up quickly causing (Y/n) to quickly throw her arms around his neck. "Are you sure this is okay, I was just kidding." (Y/n) said. "Yeah it's fine plus you're light as a feather." Devan said. "Whatever you say. Let's call the uber." "Don't worry I already did." Devan assured They began walking out, well technically Devan was doing the walking and talked until they heard someone shouting.
"I wonder if they're having a conversation from different stores." (Y/n) noted. "Who knows?" Devan said with a laugh. They heard the shouts getting closer. Devan continued walking as (Y/n) fiddled with his hair. "(Y/n)! (Y/n)!" "Devan, is it just me or does it sound like they're calling my name." "Kind of." "(Y/n) Locke YOU BETTER STOP WALKING!" (Y/n) and Devan made weird faces to each other before turning to the direction of the voice. They focused on the figure running towards them. "Curses I forgot my glasses. That just looks like a blurry blob with a blue hat." (Y/n) said. "Wait, you wear glasses?" Devan asked. "Yup I just usually forget them but it's fine since I don't normally have to look at things from far away. "Huh, you learn something new everyday. Well, it's a girl with blue hair dragging a taller boy with black hair behind her." Devan said. "Interesting sight." The two people got closer and closer until they were right in front of Devan and (Y/n).
"(Y/n) whatever your middle name is Locke why didn't you stop when I was shouting your name?" Emma asked infuriated. "Because I didn't think the people I heard shouting were calling my name. Plus I couldn't see without my glasses." (Y/n) said shrugging her shoulders. Emma and Conner took a moment to asses the situation when Emma realized something. Her eyes widened. "(Y/n) what the heck are you doing on Devan Key's back?!?!" Emma shouted. Conner just remained silent as he assessed the situation.
To be Continued
This chapter took a lot of thought and I decided to introduce Emma and Conner to Devan while he and (Y/n) were in a slightly odd position. Plus it leaves a cliffhanger and don't we all love those. I hope you enjoyed this chapter please vote, comment, and follow me. All the love until next time
