Chapter 7- Overdue Explaination
This had to be a joke, it just had to be; there was no way Aizawa would be dumb enough to ask her to vote for class officials... Would he? Naoko was currently in a staring competition with her teacher as she tried to understand the logic behind this. Not that she was against class officials, it was more of the fact that she had to be the one voting for any of this.
To her dismay, Aizawa refused to back down and even sent her a creepy smile before he turned around and crawled into his sleeping bag, dismissing the matter. Naoko grimaced as she looked cautiously around the room, wincing as she saw everyone yelling. Most likely they were 'campaigning' to become class president; why anyone would want that position was beyond her, but it was what it was.
For about twenty seconds, Naoko attempted to pay attention to what people were saying... Yeah, that ended as quickly as it started, and Naoko had a ridiculous headache to boot; to say this whole thing was stupid was an understatement.
A dull thunk echoed from where the girl was, though it was lost among the noise of the room. Naoko had dropped her head to the desk and had her eyes closed, wishing more than anything that she could have a sleeping bag, or a straight jacket, or even a large bubble; anything that would tell others to stay away. Her earphones were in and a lively beat was pulsing against her eardrums, which was usually enough, but this class had several people who cared little about personal boundaries...
As if to prove her point, a hand began to shake her gently. Naoko's face twisted into a glare as she looked up, the person who disturbed her probably had okay intentions, but she was determined to make their life miserable until they gave up and left her alone.
"No." Naoko's voice was full of venom as she glared at the black haired boy who was looking at her in shock. She had never really interacted with him before, but from the few glances she had caught of him, it was easy to see that he was a ridiculously straight arrow when it came to rules.
Tenya Iida looked at her in shock, "But Miss Fujimura, this is a very important duty within the class, I must insist you-"
"No." Tenya adjusted his glasses as Naoko cut him off, whatever he wanted, he could get someone else to help him.
"Miss Fujimura, I don't think you understand, in order to have a complete democracy the whole class must be-"
"No."
"Miss Fujimura, would you please-"
"No."
"For heaven's sake, let me finish a-"
"No."
"This is truly childish behavior, I must insist you take this more ser-"
"No."
At this point, their rather one-sided conversation had drawn some attention from the others, which made Naoko grimace as she looked around, this ridiculous situation was just getting worse... "Eyeda," (this was Naoko's attempt to say Iida's name.) "You mean well, but please stop, I'm not going to follow along with whatever plan you have. Please leave me alone."
With that, she turned up her music as she stared at him and dropped her head back down on to the desk, this time the thunk was clearly audible as everyone stared at the blue haired girl. Some, like Iida, Ochaco, and Midoriya looked at her in shock, Naoko just seemed like a quiet kind girl, especially when they thought about how she dealt with Koda when they worked together. Others like Jiro, Denki, and Kirishima were grinning widely at the girl's sass; they didn't know the girl well, but just from that interaction, they immediately liked her. Mineta was creeping about how such a feisty character must translate to how she is in bed (cue the narrator opening a portal behind the little perv and knocking him unconscious for the rest of the scene).
The only three who were focused on something other than just what Naoko had just done were Yaoyorosu, Todoroki, and Bakugou. They were all considering how Naoko had pronounced Iida's name. It was obviously not said in a way that was usual... She wasn't mispronouncing it on purpose, that much was obvious; it was more like she simply was guessing on the pronunciation. The class had been going long enough for her to have at least heard Iida's name, so what was that about?
While everyone was talking about Naoko, the girl in question was pondering a very different topic. Ever since the battle practice, Naoko had been having weird dreams that seemed more like drug trips; it wasn't the first time she had these either. For nearly two years after the villain attack, Naoko had incredibly vivid dreams that seemed to have no connection except for that she was trapped by something, and she lost her family in all of them.
When she had these dreams before, they were always terrifying to an extreme; and it took seeing a counselor for her understand that this was her brain trying to sort through the trauma of that day (the counselor visit was a mandatory thing for people involved in villain attacks, something about preventing society from crumbling due to the shock caused by so many traumatic events...).
Despite knowing what was going on, Naoko continued to be shaken by the dreams to the point where she couldn't sleep with anything in her room; because her quirk activated when she felt threatened, she would end up completely evaporating anything around her... Including her bed, the door, even the floor beneath her if the dream was bad enough.
Yeah, her poor aunt had to put up with some major crap because of her.
Knowing that the dreams were coming back after a year was concerning, would she live the rest of her life with debilitating dreams? Just the idea made her miss the razor that was usually in her bag. Rei-sama confiscated it, to Naoko's chagrin.
Eh hem... Back to the topic that Naoko was originally thinking about, with her dreams came a question that she had had for a while now, when she heard All Might talking, he had mentioned someone called All For One. After she got out of the hospital, Naoko did some research on that name, and the attack in general; to which she found... Nothing.
News reports, live footage, even the few police interviews that she read on the attack said nothing about an All For One, or even that All Might was on the scene. Now that All Might was one of her teachers, she finally had the opportunity to confront him about that.

It seemed like an eternity, but finally, Naoko's alarm rang, signaling the end of her first class. After this was English (which, let's be honest, was an obsolete class for someone with Naoko's language skills), and that meant that perhaps she could convince both Aizawa and Present Mic to let her skip.
Naoko wearily lifted her head from the desk and watched and Aizawa rose, as though from the dead, and began walking to the door, completely ignoring as Present Mic walked in screaming hello... At least, that's what Naoko assumed happened based on the evidence, she couldn't exactly see either of their lips to confirm that.
Not wanting to waste any time, Naoko jumped to her feet and walked briskly over to Present Mic and began speaking quickly in English, only slightly rusty from not having spoken aloud it for the last several years, "Mr. Mic, sir? May I please be excused from the lesson today? I have to ask All Might a rather urgent question."
Unbeknownst to her, just about everyone in the class had a dropped jaw as Naoko displayed her ability to speak English. This was something that she hadn't even given an indication of being able to do, let alone do well! Granted, they had only been in the same class for a week, but still! Usually, in English class, she spent the whole thing staring lazily at the teacher or out the window, just like the rest of the day, what the heck!
Present Mic, who had some idea of how good Naoko's language skills were after an earlier conversation with the girl, simply nodded his consent, which cued Naoko to slip past him and basically sprint out the door, following after Aizawa.
As he turned back to the class, he couldn't stop his grin from spreading; everyone besides one or two people with absolute control over their poker faces was looking at the door Naoko had just disappeared through as though a bomb had been dropped in the room. He could only imagine the chaos that would ensue when she came back!

"Aizawa." A short groan escaped the sleep-deprived teacher when he heard Naoko's monotone call as she ran to catch up with him. Was it too much to ask that he be allowed to go take a nap for the rest of the day in the faculty room instead of dealing with this?
Aizawa turned sharply and glared at the blue-haired girl, who was approaching him with a determined look in her eye. Out of all his students, she was certainly one of the quieter ones in the class, and as she had promised a few days ago, she seemed to be working hard to keep up despite everything; but that didn't mean that he was happy to have her following him right now.
"I seem to recall that you have another class right now. Shouldn't you be there instead of following me?" If Aizawa was being honest, it was a relief to not try and morph his tone to be more pleasant around her. She couldn't hear the fact that he sounded ready to cut someone, and he was able to be the natural bitch he was born to be.
Naoko shook her head quickly, her expression intense, which brought Aizawa back to the situation, "I have a question for you and if you can't answer it, I'll need to talk to All Might."
Aizawa nodded for Naoko to go on, watching the girl's eyes closely to decipher what was going through her head.
"Do you know who All for One is?"
Aizawa thought he was prepared for anything Naoko could throw at him, but she had just proven him wrong. When she asked this, Aizawa inhaled quicker than he meant to and began choking on his spit; All for One was a highly classified topic to begin with, one of the most dangerous villains of the era. Yet, here was this teenager, of all people, asking about him as though it were nothing.
Naoko watched passively as Aizawa's shoulders heaved; coughing, perhaps? Honestly, she wasn't too surprised that he reacted that way; she kinda figured this would be a sensitive subject after not being able to find any information about that name for years. Though, she didn't realize just how big of a mess she was approaching by bringing up this subject.
Eventually, Aizawa recovered enough to turn a blistering glare towards Naoko, who returned it unflinchingly, "Where did you hear about that?"
Hidden in his words was a threat, one that Naoko managed to pick up on in his body language, but chose to ignore as she shrugged casually, "I heard All Might talk about it years ago, and it's been driving me crazy ever since." Aizawa's glare deepened as Naoko spoke, her posture was casual, but her eyes were calculating; there was something more to this, he was sure of that.
"And when, exactly, did you hear him say that name?"
Naoko's response was terse and to the point, catching Aizawa off balance once again, "When I was trapped beneath the rubble that took nearly everything from me."

Unbeknownst to the both of them, a student from another class walked around the corner happily as Naoko and Aizawa stared each other down. The tension was thick around the two, and the poor, unsuspecting student stopped dead as he saw what he had just walked into; all traces of happiness fled his face and he slowly began backing up, praying that he would stay unnoticed by the teacher who had one of the scariest reputations throughout the school. When he finally made it around the corner, he practically ran back to class, completely forgetting whatever had brought him down that hallway in the first place, instead being happy that he just escaped near-certain death.

A tense atmosphere had settled on the teacher's lounge as Aizawa, All Might, and Principal Nezu all sat on a couch across from Naoko and stared at her intently. Nezu had been able to guess enough about the situation to basically be able to know what was going on, but All Might was completely lost; his ever-present signature smile looking more like a half-baked grimace as he tried to ignore the fact that Naoko was drilling holes in his head with her stare.
Because Naoko was so focused on All Might, she completely missed Aizawa talking to her... Well, she missed it until she was hit in the forehead with his capture weapon. With a yelp, she turned back to her teacher with an irritated look on her face.
"What was that for? I haven't said anything yet!" Her tone didn't change, but everyone in the room could see the indignation that filled her eyes.
Aizawa sighed as both Nezu and All Might chuckled at the girl, "Ask All Might what you asked me."
The serious look returned to Naoko's eyes as she nodded and looked back at All Might, "Who is One for All?"
If Eraserhead's reaction had been extreme, that was nothing compared to the way All Might reacted. A surprised cough burst from him, trailing blood down his lips as he physically jerked away from Naoko. Thankfully, the back of the sofa stopped him from doing too much damage, but there was still a harsh squeal as the sofa protested the strain it was put under.
"Wh-where did you hear that?" Frantically, All Might looked at Aizawa, "Where did she hear about that?!"
Aizawa glared at All Might when asked that, obviously affronted that his colleague would think so low of him, "I said nothing, you idiot! Why do you think I called you guys here? I was as surprised as you were when she asked me that!"
It looked as though they were going to continue arguing as All Might took in a deep breath, prepared to throw some form of insult back at Aizawa, but he was interrupted by Naoko.
"You know what would be cool, All Might? Using your lips while talking." Everyone looked at her in shock and curiosity, but she ignored them, rubbing her temples lightly as she squeezed her eyes closed.
"Do you know how frustrating it is to try and read what you're saying when all I see are your teeth? Lips are an important part of forming words, you know? On that topic, how do you form words without using your lips?!" Naoko stopped and sighed, blissfully unaware that both Aizawa and Nezu were cracking up at her words...well, Aizawa was laughing quietly, Nezu was simply smiling gently in amusement as he sipped his tea.
"Anyways," Naoko continued, finally opening her eyes to stare tiredly at the men, "To answer your question, I heard you talk about him three years ago after a battle that I'm guessing was against him."
A tense silence filled the room as All Might took in the new information. It must have taken a bit, because he gasped loudly about ten seconds later before he leaned forward and stared desperately at Naoko, "You were there?"
The softness of his voice took everyone back, even Naoko, who could see the drastic change from how he had been speaking just a couple of seconds before. Though, what really hit her was the change in his eyes; there was something like fear hidden in them, which made the tough attitude she had towards All Might soften just a little bit.
"Yes," Her words were clear, a small tremble broke through before she cleared her throat to stop it, "You might remember me even." Everyone's eyes widened slightly as they looked at All Might, whose eyes were about as wide as they could go as he searched his memory for indication of this girl.
"I suppose you didn't see my face, so you wouldn't remember my appearance. Do you perhaps remember the girl who screamed your name from the wreckage?"
A vicious look filled Naoko's face as she leaned forward, pinning All Might down with her eyes, "Do you remember leaving me, and everyone else who was trapped in that building, to suffer all because you wanted to avoid the press?" Naoko's voice had completely changed from how it usually sounded, instead coming out as a hiss that caused a shiver to go down the backs of the three men. "I hope you realize that I was the only survivor from that whole block; and only one of a hundred survivors from the whole affected area, all of whom were aban-"
Naoko likely would have gone on berating All Might for another couple of minutes, but she was cut off by a firm chest and strong arms wrapping around her.
Being hugged by All Might was the last thing that Naoko expected, so for a few moments, she struggled, before realizing that there was no possible escape for her. A sigh escaped her as she calmed down and listened to All Might's chest rumble; he must have been saying something and forgotten she couldn't hear him.. the tough exterior softened a bit more as a bitter smile spread across her face.
All l Might, on the other hand, had tears slowly trailing down his cheeks as he squeezed the girl close, "I know it says in your file that you lost your parents in a villain attack... It must have been then... Did you lose everything because of me?"
Slowly he leaned back and looked at Naoko with a sad smile on his face, "I do in fact remember you, it broke my heart to have to leave without saving you, but I'm afraid that I physically couldn't."
Naoko quirked her head slightly, genuinely curious to see if he was actually going to tell her what happened, or if this would just be a blow off excuse.
All Might bowed his head and examined his fingers for a moment before looking back at her, "You deserve to know the truth about some of the things that happened that day, but anything I tell you will have to remain a secret. Can I trust you with this information, young Fujimura?"
Immediately, Naoko nodded, feeling a small amount of excitement well up inside her, "I was already planning on that, I have no reason to tell anyone what I know."
A quick nod was all the warning Naoko got before steam started to pour from All Might, causing her to yelp slightly. When the steam cleared, All Might was still sitting there, but... He didn't look like All Might...
The man who was normally tall and almost painfully buff was now thin, boney, and about three feet shorter than he normally was; and that was only the beginning of the changes. Hair, eyes, shoulder width, and even his ears were completely different.
"W-what?" Naoko's face drained of color as she took in the change that came over All Might, if that weren't enough, a second after All Might shrank, he started pulled up his shirt, which was another shocking thing for the poor girl, "Wh... No! Stop, All Might! I changed my mind, d-don't tell me anything! Put your shirt back down!"
Naoko jumped from her chair and began scrambling towards the door until she saw what All Might was undoubtedly trying to show her.
On the upper right side of his body was a huge scar that was combined with bodily deformation. The scar seemed to be affected by All Might's constant... Shifting? Whatever it was that he just did with all the steaming and shrinking and what not... The wound seemed to be swollen and oozing still.
The blush faded quickly as Naoko became curious and cautiously approached All Might, "I presume this came from three years ago?" All Might nodded solemnly as she traced the scars and bumps with her eyes, "There must have been a lot of force behind these hits... Enough to flatten several city blocks?"
A scrawny hand was placed over Naoko's head, cueing her to look up in time to see All Might speak, "The reason I couldn't save you that day was because I had just been severely injured. My body was running on borrowed time as it was; if the press had seen me in that state, there would have been a panic, which would've caused more damage then it would've solved. When I heard you call out to me, I wanted nothing more than to run to you as I always tried to, but my body wouldn't allow it."
After reading this, Naoko broke eye contact with All Might and sat heavily back in the chair, "You know?" She said this quietly, a small bitter grin plucking at her lips, "This makes a lot more sense than the reason I imagined all these years. Interesting."
Naoko probably would have been content contemplating the situation for the rest of the day, but she was once again pulled back to reality by Aizawa's capture weapon poking against her cheek, "Keep that up, and your stupid scarf will be a puddle on the floor." The words were harsh, but there was very little heat behind the them.
Honestly, Aizawa couldn't care what Naoko thought of him, he got what he wanted, which was her attention. "Was what you said to Aoyama and Ashido related to this incident?"
His question was met with a blank stare, "Hiyoyama? Ashiko? Who are they?"
Aizawa quirked his brow in amusement at the slaughtered names, "You went against them in the battle simulation."
It took a moment, but eventually, Naoko remembered what he was talking about, "Oh! The cape arguers... Yeah, but only partially."
Naoko couldn't help but wince slightly as she remembered the fear on everyone's face after what she said, 'You two are part of the reason I hate heroes.'
"If I'm being completely honest though, All Might, even after assuming you abandoned me, there are still heroes I've hated more than you." A specific fiery face popped into Naoko's mind as she stood. A quick bow was all she allowed her teachers before she turned around and left the room. There was so much to sift through now, all Naoko wanted was to be alone.
