Chapter 1-Today's the day.

Gotham City.
Wayne Manor.
6:42 AM

Dick turned in his bed and glanced at his alarm clock on his bedside table. He moan and pulled the sheets over his head. He and Bruce had gotten home from patrol at two in the morning. After going over everything, Dick didn't go to bed right away, no he stayed up a bit, reading and texting his best friend Wally for a bit before finally calling it a night. Wally was so excited about the big event happening the next day. They were being granted access to the headquarters of the Justice League.

Dick knowing now that he was awake that he couldn't fall back asleep shoved the covers angrily off of him and pushed himself out of his bed. He got dress quickly in his work out uniform and headed straight to the gym as quite as he could, trying to not wake either Bruce or Alfred up.

-----------------------------

After working out on the bars for two hours Dick set off towards the showers but was stopped by Alfred standing before him.

"Good morning Master Dick. Breakfast will be served in less then ten minutes, be sure to make your way to the dinning hall sir." said Alfred turning before handing Dick a towel. Dick smiled and rushed off towards the showers.

Once complete he walked slowly down the stairs, so some reason though he felt off, and a little low. He didn't know why, maybe his nerves were just getting to him, or he thought he was going to get another lecture from Bruce about working out too much. But whatever it was, Dick didn't like the feeling, but he decided to push it aside and enter the dinning hall for breakfast. With a sigh Dick pushed the doors open, and long behold Bruce was sitting there reading the news paper.

Dick quickly found his seat and sat down as Alfred entered and left a plate of food before him.
"Now eat up Master Dick, you have a big day ahead of you." said Alfred with a smile. Dick looked up at him and smiled and signed 'Thank You' to Alfred. He began to eat, waiting for Bruce to speak up, because he knew Bruce would.

"So, Dick how did you sleep last night?" asked Bruce who was still looking at the paper he was reading. Dick looked over at him and just shrugged his shoulders. Used to the silence, Bruce lowered the paper he was reading and glanced over at his son.
"Dick, I understand that you are probably somewhat nervous about today's events but, you still need some sleep. Also, I've been noticing that you are pushing yourself more and more. Is there something you want to tell me?" said Bruce.

Dick closed his index finger and middle finger down on his thumb, signing 'No' to Bruce. Bruce just sighed and went on eating.

After they were all done eating they both went down into the Batcave and got dressed. An alert was sent to the Bat computer, four different ice villains were attacking. Dick, now as Robin nodded his head and they sent off.

---------------------------------------------------

Gotham City.
Noon.

Off in the distance Robin saw the villain Mister Freeze. Batman quickly threw his bat-a-rang.

"Batman," said Mister Freeze, "I was wondering when-"
turning to face Batman but seeing no one standing behind him.
Robin quickly pressed a button on his wrist and his signature laugh echo out.

"Ha ha ha!" Just then Robin dropped down onto of Mister Freeze then forward flipping off of him before throwing two bird-a-rangs at him.

"Oh. Boy Wonder," said Mister Freeze, "The Bat sent you to drag me off the prison? Frankly, I'm underwhelmed."

Robin stood straight and huffed at the comment given by Mister Freeze. Batman's voice echoed over the coms in Robin's ear. Robin quickly typed into his wrist computer, for he couldn't sign because it could easily give away his secret identity.
"Great, but I'm kind of in a hurry here." came out his computerized voice from his wrist computer.

Mister Freeze shock his head, "Kids, always in such a rush.''

Robin smiled and looked directly at Mister Freeze.
"Not talking to you" his wrist computer said in a songful tone. Mister Freeze's eyes grew wide and he quickly turned around. Batman jumped from the perch he was on and held his cape outwards showing his bat sign and punched Mister Freeze head on.

Washington, D.C.
2:00 PM

Robin stood there very still waiting for his best friend's arrival, he was late of course. Robin sighed. He was a little on edge about this whole thing but he was trying his best to stay whelmed.

They stood ready at the Hall of Justice. Standing there alongside himself and Batman was: Speedy, a.k.a. Roy Harper was there with his mentor Green Arrow, a.k.a Oliver Queen; and Aqualad, a.k.a. Kaldur'ahm with his mentor Aquaman, a.k.a Arthur Curry.

Batman wore a smile on his face and looked down at Robin, he placed his hand upon his shoulder.
"Today's the day.'' said Batman. Robin looked up at his father sending him a wide smile, allowing the excitement shine through his masked eyes. He turned back to looked at the scene before him.

"Welcome to the Hall of Justice guys.'' said Green Arrow. Robin's smile grew bigger.

''The supposed headquaters of The Justice League, yeah yeah." thought Dick.

"Oh, Man!" yelled a voice behind them, they all turned at once to see a red and yellow blur speed forward towards them. Robin gave a small and almost silent chuckle, Batman glanced down at his son for only a second. It had always amazed him how the ball of energy speedster had always gotten his son to open up more than he or Alfred could ever do. He has heard Dick talk to Wally, just a few words and always so quite but the young speedster has always founded a way to open his little bird up and Batman and Bruce could never be thankful enough for it.

Kid Flash pouted and crossed his arms over his chest, clearly upset.
"I freakin' knew we'd be the last ones here. Gosh!"
Barry smiled down at his nephew and looked up at the others.

They all turned and began to head to the hall. Cameras flashing and press and by standers all chatting up as they walked.

"I see Flash and Flash Jr.....Is that Batman, oh cool" were what was heard around them as the grew closer towards the steps. Wally sighed and shock his head. He stepped forward a bit, away from standing next to Aqualad and faced Robin. He quickly signed to him.
'Kid Flash, is it that hard? Why can't they get that already man?"

Robin smiled and shrugged his shoulders and quickly signed back to his best friend.

'I never have that problem'
His smile he wore growing bigger. Wally moved over to stand right beside Robin. Kid Flash and Robin were now in the front of everyone, with Speedy and Aqualad right behind them and their mentors walking slowly behind. Today was the day, their day.

Speedy and Aqualad were talking, Robin just silently listen. Wally gave him a little shove, knowing that he was feeling a bit down for not being able to speak just like the others.  Soon Roy gets upset with something Wally says and he pouts for a moment.

"Sorry, first time here at the hall. I'm a little overwhelmed." said Wally. Robin quickly turned to face him and signs really quickly, Aqualad raises an eyebrow. He was totally not familiar with this.

'You're overwhelmed, Freeze was underwhelmed. Why isn't anyone ever just whelmed?' signed Robin. Wally watched his hands as he signed, he wasn't really sure how to answer that questioned. Robin then walked a little faster ahead of everyone. His eyes grew wide as he saw the inside of the Hall.
"Oh maybe that's why'' thought Robin.

---------------------------------

Inside they all flopped down on the chairs and got comfy, except Speedy. Batman turned to the League members and spoke while the others relaxed. Speedy clearly not liking this one bit spoke up angrily at them. After all the yelling, Roy threw his hat down quitting and stormed out of the room. Leaving everyone shocked. Robin lowered his head and Wally quickly reached over and patted his hand. Robin looked over at his best friend and Wally sent him a reassuring smile.

An alarm when off loudly. Just then the computer lit up and Superman came on the screen. Robin was lost in his head for a moment, but still heard what was going on around him.

He, Wally and Roy were friends. He started the whole sidekicks thing and once after that Wally and Roy joined in and became his friends. They all three have hung out and were close but now, now it seemed like it was all ruined and gone. He was grateful for having Wally beside him right now, he couldn't handle losing anyone else close to him. Flashes of his parent's faces flashed before his eyes. Wally clearly saw Dick tense up so he reached down and grabbed his hand, holding it tightly within his.

The other league members began to leave while Batman turned to face the three of them.

"Stay put." said Batman sending a tiny bat glare at them, but mostly at Robin. Robin saw this and typed quickly.

"What? Why?''

"This is a League mission son.'' said Aquaman behind turning and leaving the room.

After the league left, Aqualad spoke up, ''What is project Cadmus?"
Robin pulled his hand from Wally's and smiled evilly as he typed on his wrist computer.

"Don't know. But I can find out.'' came out the voice as Robin raced over to the computers. His fingers quickly rushed over the keys on the computer which would make the Flash's eyes wide at the speed.

-Access denied,
Announced the computer, Robin shot Kid Flash a look before typing more on the key board.

"Want to beat?" thought Dick as he continued to work.
After about a minute, Robin was in the computer. Wally smiled and moved closer to his best friend.

"Whoa! Dude! How are you doing that?" he asked. He knew how smart Dick was but still at times he impressed him at just how talent and smart he was.

'Same system as the Batcave' Robin signed. Aqualad didn't understand American Sign Language or the reason why Robin used it. He knew Robin used his computer to speak but was the child unable to speak, he had no idea. He had only met Robin two different times before this, he clearly wasn't as close to him as Kid Flash was and possibly Speedy was. So he remained quite, he would voice his thoughts and questions at a different time.

-Access Granted, the computer announced and Wally and Robin high fived, a tiny smile came upon Aqualad's face as he watched the two before him.

Sadly the files on the computer didn't have anything on Project Cadmus. Robin turned to look at Aqualad as he typed on his wrist computer.

"If Batman's suspicious about it then maybe we should go and investigate."

Kid Flash smiled and nodded his head at Robin. They both looked up at Aqualad, awaiting his response.

"Huh, solve their case before they do. It would be poetic justice, but...." said Aqualad but was cut off by Robin's computer voice.

"Hey. They're all about Justice."
Kid Flash patted him on the back. But Aqualad lowered his head, clearly struggling with himself on what was he should do and what was right.

"But they said to stay here. My King, My mentor, I can't... we shouldn't disobey an....'' began Aqualad but once again interrupted by Robin.

"They told us to stay put for the blocking out the sun mission not this.''

Wally clearly understanding what Dick was saying, pulled Dick around to face him. The excitement written all over his face and in his words.

"Wait! Are you going to Cadmus?" asked Wally. Dick gave him a little smile. "Cause if you're going, then I'm going!"

Robin gave him a tiny nod. Then they both turned to face Aqualad.

Wally thought that there was no way he was going to let Dick go by himself, something terrible could happen and he wouldn't be able to handle that. He would follow Dick into any battle, for he  always had his back and he loved him.

Aqualad looked down at the smiling teens before him. He sighed and closed his eyes.

"Just like that, we're a team on a mission?" he questioned them. Robin quickly typed on his wrist computer.

"We didn't come for a play date.''

Aqualad smiled and looked at them. They were now a team. He nodded his head in agreement with Robin's plan and all three then set off to Cadmus, as a team.
