Nightshade circled around a hand some golden tabby, her eyes fixed on his fierce face. "Why have you brought me here"? He hissed, glancing around at the twisted and blackened trees. "To ask you a question, " she said, her lips curling into a cruel smile, "If you were to choose you or your dear apprentice to die, who would you choose?" The golden tom looked calmly back, but she saw a glint of fear in his eyes, "myself" he murmured. His eyes betrayed his feelings, they were blazing like the setting sun, fear, anger, and contempt danced around in their amber depths. A wicked breeze blew around the dark desolate forest, the wind howled, and with it howled Nightshades laughter. " I thought you'd say that" She hissed from right behind him. He whipped around, eyes moving wildly around the dark forest. "Where are you"? he hissed. Nightshades voice echoed around him, like wind, like shadow, like rain.... "I can see you, but you can't see me", the tabby's fur rose along his spine, a wicked cackle broke the still air like lightning on a still green leaf evening. The wind rose to a piercing, howling, roar, the dark forest swayed, purple lightning shone in the darkness. The tabby crouched on the cold, hard ground, his claws out and his fur on end, "You have to stop this", he hissed, fear scent rising off of him in waves. "I will never stop" she cackled, her voice cut through the roar of the wind, like ice through fire, like rain... "Your apprentice is mine"... The world around him faded, and for a moment the only thing visible was the piercing yellow eyes of Nightshade, whose gaze was still fixed mercilessly on him, an evil smile twisting her mouth.
